Fans of the arcade game will enjoy taking Sunset Riders home on the range. Gamers who have both 16-bit systems won't need this cart if they've already got the Sega version. However, anyone else with a hankerin' for a spirited shoot-em-up can ride happily into the sunset with these Riders.

Sunset Riders is the ultimate item of cowboy glamorization, where the good guys ride across barren deserts and explore small towns, blowing away hundreds of bandits popping out of saloons and runaway trains with explosive weaponry. A perfect atmosphere is the big selling point, covering the Old West theme with exciting music, vibrant scenery, and cornball silliness. This is the only way to rule the west.

This version is almost identical to the arcade version, so longtime fans should definitely check this one out! Being a one-hit wonder does get a bit frustrating, but the Two-Player Simultaneous Mode is a blast. A Konami winner!

It's nice to be in the Wild West for a change instead of some futuristic setting, but beneath the nice graphics Sunset Riders is a very simple blaster that you can walk on easy level.

Sunset Riders is a twitch game at heart, and ultimately, those who follow the subgenre still (all 13 of them) are the ones who will get the most out of it. It's fetching some prices on eBay just now that are frankly not worth it, but it's definitely something worth looking out for at local pawn shops and Goodwills.

For action this is not a match for Capcom's old wild west classic Gunsmoke, but it is still great fun, and has amusing western music and speech thrown in, too.

If you can only play one western game, make it Sunset Riders. It is a must play for all aspiring cowboys, bandits, and train robbers. "Adios Amigos!"
