Description

Snowmuncher is an action game from the virtual pet website Neopets. Its gameplay is similar to Mr. Driller.

The player controls Dieter, the polar bear-like Polarchuck, who wishes to munch and gobble his way through several levels made up of blocks of colored snow. Dieter starts at the top of the level and can be moved with arrow keys, and made to eat snow next to him with the spacebar. He eats entire groups of identically-colored snow at once. There are also stone blocks which require two bites to eat. Blocks left hanging in the air collapse after a moment, potentially crushing Dieter if they fall on him. However, if the collapsing block ends up creating a group of four or more blocks or the same color, the entire group disappears, giving the player bonus score.

Each bite makes Dieter bloated, and the player must regularly find and pick up the Bloat-B-Gone medicine to keep the bear's belly from reaching 100% fullness; otherwise Dieter loses a life. Same happens if the player fails to reach the bottom of the level within a time limit. Other things to be found among the snow include gems and food that give bonus score, clocks that give bonus time, as well as frozen ice cubes which contain Snow Wurms. When such a cube drops down, the Wurm is released and begins moving around, costing Dieter a life if it reaches him; however, it will leave behind a valuable gem.

The game also contains a Zen Mode where the score resets to zero after each loss of a life or completion of a level.
