South Park

I actually had quite a good time playing SouthPark, both in single player mode, and in multiplay. The game ran quite well, when hosting a game over ISDN, and having 6 people all trying to do each other in with snowballs. Though definitely not the next "quake killer", SouthPark turned out to be a lot of fun. If you like first-person shooters, and even if you aren't into the SouthPark show. The one factor, that kept the game from getting a 100% rating, quite frankly is because they shouldn't have "bleeped" out the !*@!!@# language.

The multi player is a never ending source of fun, there is nothing like being shot with a cow or burying your buddy in a cloud of farts. Southpark 64 is a definite must have for serious N64 gamers, though it may not be suitable to some of the younger gamers and does carry an MA warning on it.

Ondanks dat de serie South Park bij weinigen bekend zal zijn, is deze N64 game voor iedereen de moeite waard. Dit met name door de hoge dosis humor die het bevat. Echt moeilijk zijn de levels niet. Je zou het kunnen zien als een comedy-versie van Turok.

Som shoot 'em up betraktat är South Park knappast det självklara alternativet. Främst eftersom det redan finns spel som Turok 2 och Goldeneye 007. Det här är ett spel som är skapat för dem som älskar South Park, inte för dem som aldrig har upplevt eller ogillar serien. Turok 2-motorn används inte fullt ut och tyvärr försvinner moment som överraskning och spänning. South Park känns lite väl mycket som ett förutsägbart skämt.

In closing, while the "South Park Official PC Game" has something for every fan of "South Park," it is unlikely to do much for "Unreal" and "Quake" players. Then again, it's hella stupid to even compare the two.

Voor South Park fans is deze game een absoluut hebbedingetje, maar ook die zullen moeten toegeven dat de glans van deze game te snel verbleekt. De gein, de grove woorden en de absoluut knotsgekke wapens zijn zeker in het begin vermakelijk, maar al snel is de lol er een beetje af omdat je voortdurend hetzelfde moet doen.

To say that I was disappointed with this game is an understatement. Since it is based off a license, I never should have gotten my hopes up so high. The boring single-player game, mundane enemies and terrible fog made me struggle to continue playing. The only thing that kept me from turning it off was that I could not wait to hear what that son-of-a-bitch Cartman would say next. Sorry, it happened again!

South Park is a very successful game based on the Comedy Central show. It does have some flaws - too linear levels, no weapon carryover between missions, poor save game mechanism, some graphical clipping, etc., but it is very funny and enjoyable to play. If you're a fan of the show, you'll appreciate what was put together in this package. It's true to the show and its brand of offbeat humor. Bottom Line: The look and feel of the game is perfect; it really is a 3D representation of South Park. Levels are a little too linear, and the save game mechanism shows the game's console roots. If you're a fan of the show, you'll appreciate how the show's unique brand of humor shows through.

The one good thing I liked about this game is that the codes were pretty funny, other wise please, don't even bother to spend 10 bucks on this game, use it wisely on other games.

Alas, multiplayer and cool cutscenes isn't enough to save this game. It's too uninteresting and plays too much as a very mindless shooter. Think of it as a modern day space invaders. You just keep killing enemies over and over and over. If you're a diehard South Park fan, this should give you some giggles for a little while, but even then it's stretching anyone's patience.

Toch zijn de graphics van deze PSX versie vele malen slechter als de mooie vloeiende beelden van de N64 of PC, en dat was naar mijn mening niet nodig geweest. Desondanks blijft South Park een leuk spel die elke fan van de serie in huis moet hebben.

Virtually every character from the series eventually makes an appearance at some point in the game, but unfortunately these cameos add little to the overall gameplay experience and seem little more than window dressing. The multiplayer game makes up for a proportion of this, but not enough to make anyone other than the most die-hard South Park fans to part with their money.

Bref, South Park peut être jugé de 2 façons, selon qu'on est un inconditionnel de la série, ou pas. Pour le joueur lambda, il faut bien le dire, South Park est un mauvais doom-like, répétitif et linéaire à l'éxcès. Les fans quand à eux trouveront marrant de s'immerger dans l'univers loufoque de la série!

Since the game lacks a lot of variety, and variety affects the replay value, I had the lower the replay value a lot. Yeah, so if it has 2 player support, and so that it has secret characters. That fact of the matter is this: South Park is a pretty cheap game that needs more variety in order for it be a pleasant title to enjoy. Sorry Acclaim, maybe next time.

Like any game based on a TV show, you'd have to be a fan of the show to appreciate the game. Those fans should find a few hours of mirth in online deathmatching, which works quite well over the Internet with a standard modem connection, but the simplistic design and tedious single-player game will only annoy shooter fans.

Ideally suited to a weekend rental, due to the simple fact that once you have worked your way through the first episode, everything that follows is pretty much the same. With gameplay that is about as linear as space invaders the witty script, funny one liners and bizarre enemies soon get boring and you are left wondering why you didn't spend your money on a pile of South Park videos rather than this game. No doubt this will still sell very well due to the name, but with a host of terrible PlayStation releases one after the other, Acclaim are in danger of falling back into their old ways... 'Someone's killed South Park... Its Acclaim... You Bastards !'

All in all, this is a half-assed attempt at a game. From Iguana, who people would expect to use all five asses when designing a game, South Park 64 is a disappointment. The humor from the show is there, but this game will find its way to that dusty shelf before you can say Skuzzlebutt. Though the multiplayer is fun, that too gets old fairly quickly. Rent this one when you need your South Park fix, and save your hard-earned cash for a better game.

In den USA ist die gleichnamige TV-Serie deshalb so populär, weil praktisch jedes Tabu der "Political Correctness" gebrochen wird und die vier Bubis schrecklich ordinär sind. Dieses Konzept funktioniert auch am PC - aber nur für 30 Minuten. Dann kennt man alle Sprüche von Kyle und Co. und sieht hinter der niedlich-sadistischen Grafik den Schmalspur-Shooter hervortreten. Simples Leveldesign mit immer gleichen Gegnern, die in unkoordinierten Scharen angreifen. Für Fans der Anarcho-Serie ist South Park dennoch kaufenswert: Der Geist des Vorbilds leuchtet aus jedem Pixel, und Dumpfbacke Kenny wird auch hier mit brachialer Regelmäßigkeit über den Jordan befördert.

South Park as a video game is fun for all of about three minutes. It isn't fun, isn't funny, misses on all cylinders, and generally just woefully fails to live up to its namesake. I tried, repeatedly, to see what I was missing, and finally came to the realization that this game was nothing more than a quick attempt to get people to buy a lame game because of its association with a much funnier, livelier and more entertaining TV show. Oh my god! They've killed Kenny. And Cartman. And Kyle. And Stan. And all the fun of South Park. You bastards!

Acclaim hat nicht nur Kenny, sondern auch den Spielwitz gekillt. Trotz selbstloser Vorrecherche (Studium zahlreicher TV-Folgen) läßt mich das Programm eiskalt. South Park übertrifft mit seiner ganzen Dahingeschludertheit alle Befürchtungen, die man gemeinhin mit Spielen zu Filmen oder Fernsehserien verbindet. Angesichts des verwanzten Leveldesigns vergeht einem schnell das Lachen: In jedem Level werde ich von chaotischen Riesenrudeln hirnloser Kamikaze-Angreifer genervt. Das Vernichten der langlebigen Spielwelt-Endgegner dauert fast länger als eine TV-Episode; mittendrin speichern darf ich natürlich nicht. Die Technik spendet keinen Trost: Für seine nebelumwölkte Einfachst-3D-Welt braucht South Park peinlich viel Hardware-Power. Chaotisch, aber relativ unterhaltsam sind die wilden Deathmatches, die noch am ehesten dem Seriencharakter entsprechen.

South Park is by far the most frustrating game experience I have ever had. Not because of the quality of the game but because it combines a phenomenal license, a respected publisher and one of the world's best developers. That should have been more than enough to create a brilliant game. Instead we have utter proof that everyone is capable of having a bad day.

Between the abysmal graphics, bad sound, and horrible gameplay, South Park is definitely one of those games that is bound to come up when you start thinking about the worst game you've ever played. It's a real throwback to the days of completely worthless games with decent licenses - the kind Acclaim used to be infamous for back in the days of 8-bit and 16-bit gaming. South Park fans looking for some interactive action would do well to wait for South Park Rally or Chef's Luv Shack.
