I reckon the new difficulty level is a brilliant idea. It makes the strategy side even more crucial to success than ever before. Newcomers to the game will undoubtedly find it a bit daunting, but they can always go through the training levels and extra missions so that they can learn the ropes before taking on the big boys at campaign level. If you're up for a challenge, this is the game for you.

Space Hulk not only lends strategy to the boring corridor category, but enough carnage to fill buckets with flying parts as well. These are perhaps the best graphics seen on the 3DO and the game plays very well, possessing a certain feel all it's own. SH is definitely an original title. There is little pixelization even when up close and the Land Sharks on steroids art is a welcome sight after that hyper idiotic Immercenary pain. A must buy for 3DO owners.

Like any other game of this type, the action can get a little repetitive and I wish there were a few more different kinds of enemies. However, there's a whole lot of different kinds of missions and the (mostly rendered) graphics look really great. All in all, this is nicely done.

Space Hulk - Vengeance of the Blood Angels är ett välgjort spel, minst sagt. Både grafiken och ljudet är av toppklass och allting rör sig mjukt och fint.

Atmosphere is the name of the game when talking about shooters such as these. Alien vs. Predator had it, although it's gameplay was a little diluted, but Space Hulk is right on target. If you're a 3DO owner, make sure to check this one out.

Despite its aged 3D engine (you won't be seeing any Quake-like structures in the game to be certain) and VGA graphics, Space Hulk is an extremely worthwhile addition to the library of those who want a first-person shooter that's more than simply mindless action. This is an intense, challenging, strategy-laden game with atmosphere as deep as any game on the market, and, on the whole, it's very, very good.

Vengeance isn't an easy game, nor one that should be taken lightly. It is, however, challenging enough for serious strategists, and rewarding enough to see to completion.

If Space Hulk were faster and less complicated, it might have been a truly formidable 3DO action disc. But throwing technical missions and multiple Terminators into the fray only serves to clog the alien homicide with hulking gameplay. If you want to think before you shoot - and think a lot - then maybe this Blood's for you.

If you play Space Hulk: Vengeance of the Blood Angels as a foot solider, you’re going to be disappointed. Despite the efforts made to give the game an FPS feel, it’s less a relished experience and more a necessity that must be endured. Play the game like a general; command your troops into place; outthink the primal beasts that run the claustrophobic corridors; let your strategies talk louder than your guns. Otherwise get used to hearing your comrade’s death rattle over your intercom and shuffling slowly off in a fruitless attempt to avenge them. And, more sadly, miss the entire point of a unique and entirely enjoyable game.

I like this game from what I could see of it. It took a lot of maneuvering just to stay alive long enough to review it. The game has a great eerie feel and the graphics complement it rather well. Still, I have to comment on the incredible frustration I went through to play it. Even from the very start, you will die in a matter of seconds. It takes a long time to master your crew and learn how to position them. Definitely a game for the advanced player who has a lot of patience.

Unfortunately, the frame-rate is lousy, and consequently navigating the hallways is more awkward than it should be. The well-designed creatures look fearsome (especially up close), and blasting them results in a generous amount of blood sprayed over the walls. I gave it a chance, but to be honest, Space Hulk is not my kind of game. I like the concept of issuing orders to the other robots and working as a team, but that's easier said than done. The game favors strategy over mindless shooting, and there's a major learning curve involved. In addition, the robots move slowly, and the gameplay seems to drag at times. I was able to complete some of the early missions, but as the objectives grew more complex, Space Hulk started to give me a headache. Only the most patient gamers will be able to fully appreciate this one.

Although the frame-rate is far smoother than the 3DO version of Space Hulk, the hallways look far more pixilated. Also problematic is how the cursor moves way too fast on the map screen. Space Hulk's gameplay requires a lot of trial and error along with a heavy time investment. In my humble opinion, it's just not worth the effort. It may have been an adequate 3DO game, but on a system like the Saturn, it just doesn't measure up.
