Description
Space Shot is a minimalistic shoot-em-up with RPG elements developed for the TIGSource Procedural Generation competition. Players control an astronaut who has been blasted into space by his country. The game consists of different waves of attacks that become increasingly difficult. The starting size of the ship, firing options and the encounters with the enemy are completely randomized for each gameplay session.
By shooting ships the player collects galactic credits which can be spent when a trader appears. Buying options allow to change the ship's size (height/width), power, firing rate, horizontal and vertical speed and guns for each direction. Both the player and all opponents are represented as squares, shooting square bullets. Most enemies require multiple hits and change colour to show their state. While playing, incoming transmission constantly launch random insults at the player. There are three difficulty levels and when all hope is gone, a button to autodestruct. The game is controlled through the arrow keys, with a button to shoot and one to start trading.
