SpeedX 3D is proof that quality games are quality games, no matter what their origin happens to be. Although the frame rate could be better, the impression of depth and speed is amazing, and the use of 3D incredibly effective. To top it all off, the inclusion of traditional pad control means that this version of SpeedX 3D is more intuitive and enjoyable than its mobile forerunners — in fact, it's quite possibly the best iteration of the game yet seen, and a highly recommended download for your 3DS.

Still, Speedx should be applauded for what it represents – a slick, stylish and addictive Android exclusive. We’ll certainly be keeping our eyes glued to the horizon for more from HyperBees.

It's expensive for thirty seconds of fun, then, even if it's technically quite impressive. The tilt sensing is a wee bit dodgy, too, but as long as you hold it absolutely still whilst it calibrates, it's at least functional. More than one mode or visual theme might have made it more than a cheap, quick thrill.

It’s possible to adjust and become used to the foibles of Speedx 3D’s accelerometer controls and once you get in the groove it becomes an intensely addictive and rewarding experience, focused solely on acquiring as impressive a score as possible. It’s not going to be to everyone’s tastes but if you’re looking for a download which is going to test your reflexes rather than your grey matter, this has plenty of potential for entertainment.
