In a word, this game is scrumptious and it all fits together seamlessly with some crazy cut-scenes and lots of features such as a bonus arcade game after the fashion of Asteroids; a help/hint file that can be accessed during the game; simple saving and loading and options for disabling the music or sound effects. The only thing I couldn't find was subtitles!
By remembering it is a game and trying to be fun instead of sinister like all the junky games I play, Spy Fox 2: Some Assembly Required is more fun than the newest PC graphics card, an episode of Get Smart and the latest Bond movie, combined. Damnit that makes me so mad! Isn’t it enough that the little brats suckle happily on the hind teat of society, codled, nurtured and catered to, blissfully unaware of the disappointment that awaits them? Do they have to have the best games too? Dagnabbit!
Kid testers were thoroughly absorbed in the adventure, and were determined to solve the mystery and win the game. Even parents enjoyed the humor.
Spy Fox 2: Some Assembly Required is more challenging to play than Spy Fox: "Operation Ozone" because its gameplay is not set up around hubs. It provides hours of spy work though, as players solve problems as they go along. They may be required to retrace their steps many times before finding success. For younger players, this is a negative; for older players, a positive.
While the game is mostly fun, the frustration factor prevents me from rating it higher than I have. Perhaps in the future, Humungous Entertainment should consider adding a hint section to help younger players.
At this point, it’s time to turn it over to my guest reviewer, and my extra special assistant. Amanda said, “I didn’t like the part with the gears, it was too hard. I really liked when the doggy fell down at the end.” Scott, my extra special assistant said, “I wanna play!” He likes the game on Spy Fox’s watch, Things from Space. For me, almost more interesting than the game itself.
