Star Wars Jedi Starfighter is a definitive must have game! While it plays similarly to the original, its formula still feels fresh and the game, along with Rogue Leader, exemplifies sci-fi air combat excellence. The graphics are absolutely gorgeous, and look even better than they did in Starfighter. The textures are wonderfully done and the special effects are beautiful. Visually, this one's a pleaser - despite its very minor framerate and aliasing issue. Aurally, everything sounds nearly perfect and those who have the audio equipment will surely find themselves loving Jedi Starfighter's sound. Then we have the replay value and the untouched controls. All in all, Jedi Starfighter is a package no Star Wars fan, no envious Rogue Leader PS2 owner, and no space shooter fan must pass on.

Jedi Starfighter is an excellent sequel to the original Starfighter, it does a superb job of improving on its predecessor. Many of the imperfections from the original game have been cleaned up and there's more than enough new material to warrant a purchase, especially if you enjoyed the first game. So give Jedi Starfighter a shot, you won't be disappointed.

Star Wars Jedi Starfighter didn't impress me as much as the first one, but perhaps that's because the PlayStation 2 is one and half years into its lifespan, and with last year's incredible outburst of outstanding titles, it's hard to impress anyone these days. I definitely feel that the Force powers add another layer to the game's depth, but with the lack of level variety, no new innovations, and the same game design repeated almost to a T, Jedi feels far too familiar.

Star Wars Jedi Starfighter takes an existing game and adds a bit of Jedi magic to create a substantial new gaming experience. The use of Force powers may seem like a gimmick at first, but you will soon learn that they are an integral part of mastering and completing this stellar game.

Jedi Starfighter isn't going to win any awards for innovation. However, it delivered enough entertainment that I can temporarily forgive LucasArts for being such a brazen Star Whore and pimping everything they've got to the galaxy. If upcoming Star Wars titles follow in this game's path -- Star Wars Galaxies and Bounty Hunter might -- I'll humbly retire my position and say, "May the Force be with you."

As you’ve probably gathered, the Xbox port of Jedi Starfighter is identical to the original PlayStation 2 release. The only significant difference is an additional multiplayer bonus mission set within the busy cloud tops of Coruscant. You’ll also get an exclusive glimpse at two new LucasArts games (Indiana Jones and Gladius). On the technical side, the only modification, which is a slight one, is that the framerate doesn’t hang up or chug when the action becomes frenzied.

I felt a great disturbance in the Force…As though millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened." This timeless quote spoke volumes in the film, but also lends itself nicely as a tagline to the assortment of Episode I games. With Racer being the lone exception as a praiseworthy release, most gamers feel that the gaggle of Episode I software should be tossed into a trash compactor. With the arrival of Episode II, LucasArts has a chance to redeem itself, but if Jedi Starfighter is any indication, I fear the same mistakes are already in motion.

Nevertheless, Jedi Starfighter is yet another feather in the ever-growing cap of LucasArts' recent successes. It's always a pleasure to further explore the galaxy far, far away and this time we get cool new ships and some Force powers to play with. A Jedi's work is never done.

Everything about Jedi Starfighter is polished and entertaining. Great visuals, intense action and a solid story all add up to a satisfying and cinematic gaming experience. This is easily the best Star Wars-themed game on the market next to Rogue Leader, and packs a Force-filled punch for single and multiplayer gamers.

Jedi Starfighter is still great at what it does, but I feel there are graphical areas that weren't improved from the first PS2 Starfighter - and this far along in the system's life. I expect more. I'm a huge Star Wars fan, but this game only stands on its own two feet - and that's all.

If you can withstand the whole Single Player mode then you should be proud of
yourself, because it just seems like your doing the same thing over and over
again, and the games loses it’s fun very quickly. I found that the game lasted
much longer playing it in the co-op mode but even then it loses it’s fun very
quickly.

In Jedi Starfighter we're sent on yet another series of side adventures that run parallel to the events of Episode II. With parallel adventures come parallel characters. You're playing as accomplished Jedi Master Adi Gallia and you get to take control of the slick prototype Jedi Starfighter that comes complete with force-enabled powers. It's times like this they made me realize how far the Jedi have fallen on the cool-o-meter since The Empire Strikes Back debuted over 20 years ago. This side story to Episode II teams Adi Gallia with good old Nym from the original Starfighter: SE game on the 'box as they get to the bottom of the Trade Federation's latest nefarious plot.

Aside from the shoddy graphics and the occasional twitch, Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter will manage to draw you right in with its engaging storyline, solid controls and plenty of extras (you got to love a game that offers a gag reel). Pick this one up if you’re a Star Wars junkie or a die-hard flight simulator fan.

Give this game a 5 day rental (5 days is plenty of time to beat the game) unless you're a Star Wars fan. If you're a Star Wars fan, then head to your local video game shack and pick this game up right now! You heard me, RIGHT NOW! You can't miss the opportunity to enjoy this game. I'm glad I didn't.

Finally, there's the prized Episode II connection. A fine story about the Republic losing its grasp of the member worlds is more interesting as the basis for Jedi Starfighter. It's not clear, however, whether the title is ultimately helped by being linked to Episode II. The last Starfighter game had more characters but the plot never seemed to pick up until the epic battle on Naboo. In Jedi Starfighter, the Episode II material emancipates the developers to try new things but for me, the resulting story is still a hackneyed one, primarily because you always feel like you're playing second fiddle or doing inconsequential things compared to where all the real Jedi are. Furthermore, the film only had a brief space combat encounter.

Overall, Jedi Starfighter is a good game but it depends alot on personal taste. If you're really into it, it can keep you busy for quite a while, but if you're on the other hand more interested in varied gameplay, you'll probably put this game away after about a week if not earlier.

Jedi pilots can use the
Force while flying, and although these bonus abilities are tricky to master, they are vastly practical.
Simple orders can be given to other pilots on your side when facing larger targets or stronger forces.
Continuing on from the other Starfighter games, there are more than 40 new craft, including capital
ships, fighters and weapon installations. With several improvements and innovations, Jedi Starfighter
plays much like many other spacefighter simulators. Knowing which way is up can often be anyone's
guess, and keeping an enemy in your sights during a dogfight isn't easy.

With Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter, LucasArts proves once again that you can't keep down a good droid or a cash-reaping franchise. LucasArts has a commendable track record of decent space shooters, and Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter is no exception as long as you expect little more than a fun, albeit mindless ride that you've had before. The de facto annihilate-droid-starfighters- and support-republic-vessel-type missions are frenetic and comprised of logically progressing objectives, while managing to straddle the fine line between challenging and fun.

In the end, Star Wars: Starfighter is a solid game that fans of the previous entry in the series should check out without giving it a second thought. While it's not the prettiest Xbox game out there, let alone the best-looking Star Wars game, it does offer good control and entertaining gameplay, as well as the sound and music we've come to expect from a Star Wars game. These merits combined with the multitude of ships and missions that can be unlocked through extensive play further add to the value of Jedi Starfighter, a good Star Wars game that's not quite great.

A hopeless Star Wars fanatic, I feel obligated to purchase any new Star Wars game, even rehashes like this. As a basis of comparison, I played the original Starfighter game on my PS2 just before trying Jedi Starfighter. What I discovered was that the games look and play nearly the same! Jedi's graphics are attractive but no more detailed than the PS2 version. While the XBox visuals may be slightly sharper and smoother, I still noticed a few "hiccups" in the framerate. Jedi Starfighter has a nice arcade feel.

Jedi Starfighter est un shoot très classique qui ne vaut que par l'univers de Star Wars qu'il exploite. En raison de ses graphismes clairement pas à la hauteur de la machine, on préférera donc l'édition PS2 à cette version Xbox.

Although Star Wars Jedi Starfighter is fun, with some must play levels and a great cooperative mode, it is a step backward from the string of great Star Wars games that LucasArts has given us lately. Watered-down, over-milked-pick your favorite negative beverage descriptive and Jedi Starfighter probably suffers from it. If you love games like this, as I do, then you can certainly get $50 worth of enjoyment out of it. Several of the missions as well as the multiplayer mode add a lot of replay value. However, I would recommend a rental to anyone who isn't a hardcore fan. Even then, Rogue Leader (if you have a Gamecube) and Starfighter (especially on the PS2) should be your first choices. Myself, I am going to go back and play the Poison Skies mission again. There is just something about flying into a barrage of powerful missiles, on purpose, that is incredibly cool...
