Redefines multi-player gaming.

The Good
This is a superb title, the game that put multiplayer on the map. Where can I start...

Gameplay- One word: Amazing! True team-based gameplay with a simple concept, if you don't work together, you don't win. Each person on the team have to work together. For example, some must set up defenses for your base, some must defend, and some must attack the enemy. You have to have a plan in order to be successful.

Graphics- Quite impressive. Huge environments that seem to stretch out for hundreds of miles. You can see enemies coming from miles away. Each locale is different, and require different strategic methods. In environments like these, you should take advantage of your jetpacks and vehicles.

Sound-Not perfect but still great. While the sound effects and location-based sound (You should have a relatively good sound card to take advantage of this...it could save your life in a game!) are top notch, from the rumbling noise of the chaingun to the 'zfft' of the sniper rifle connecting to it's target...The sound is very well done. But some of the taunts and player voices seem forced, and out of place. The soundtrack is composed of a dance/rock combo and is easily forgotten.

The Bad
There are very few problems with this game. Aside from the aforementioned sound niggles, the five tutorial missions that come with the game are quite poor. The AI in these lessons are pretty stupid, these tutorials only get you prepared for the basic stuff. So if you are new to Tribes, be prepared to get beaten up time after time until you get experienced. The only last problem I can find with the game is not with the game itself, but the people you meet online. Cheaters, laggers, sore losers/winners, etc. But this is a common problem in all multi-player games.

The Bottom Line
Hands down, this is one of the best games ever released. Even better than the sequel! If you happen to stumble across this game at your local software store (It's as little as 9 bucks now!), please, give it a good home! Spend some time with it, and it will deliver a rewarding multi-player experience.

Entertainment quality is top notch.

The Good
Where to start? This was the first FPS game I've played. This game is what brought me into the FPS genre. One particular feature of the game is the easy navigation from the main screen to the online servers. Once you select a server, the load time zips through quickly. There were no times where I had to wait. And so begins the game itself: This is an online FPS game in which two teams "Tribes" of numerous players compete for victory. Although I'm more gameplay over graphics perspective, the graphics in this game were crafted well.

The Bad
When playing a game you will encounter people who can be jerks. My advice is when someone treats you badly having it be verbal abuse or screwing up your characters actions, simply hit ESC on the keyboard and disconnect from that server.

The Bottom Line
Highly recommended for any true FPS fan.
