From an awesome character roster of 38 characters, great replay value with the ability to have up to four players, and satisfying in-depth fighting mechanics that don’t prohibit new players coming to the world of Street Fighter, what more can you ask for? The story is a little disappointing and the trial mode could use a little more explanation for rookies, but these issues are petty if you look at the game as a complete package.

Xbox 360Game Chronicles
I’ve played so many matches in Street Fighter X Tekken the game has become a blur, and yet I’ve only really been playing with my Tekken cast. I’m sure a whole new world awaits once I begin to experiment with the Street Fighter roster. The sheer scope of this game is staggering, which only makes the level of challenge and perfectly balanced combat that much more impressive. If you are a fan of either franchise or just want to play an awesome fighting game then don’t even think about skipping Street Fighter X Tekken.

Street Fighter X Tekken is a triumphant marriage between two huge fighting franchises that could have quite easily been a mess. Filled to the brim with new characters and features, you'll be hard-pushed to find a bigger, better, more vibrant and appealing fighting game out there. Hadoken, indeed.

I definitely feel like Street Fighter X Tekken is worth picking up, especially if you have any kind of interest in either side of the fence. Both rosters are great, and the online play minus the sound issues is pretty fantastic, and will automatically give this game a pretty solid online presence for months to come. The fighting will be familiar to Street Fighter IV fans, but different enough that newcomers won’t be entirely out of the loop, with some new stuff to learn through the tag mechanics. I really enjoy the game, and I look forward to whatever Namco cooks up for their version of the game down the line.

SFxT is the fighting game to have at the moment. Its deep gameplay and a huge variety of modes will keep fighting fans busy both online and off for a long, long time. If Capcom could have addressed some of the sound problems that exist online and supplement the inability to see the various endings and movies you experience, this could have been the perfect fighting game.

We already have Third Strike and Street Fighter 4. We don't need another one. This ripped, boisterous crossover game arrives in a blaze of creativity, one of an intensity rarely seen in Japanese game output of late. A fierce, passionate marriage then - but one that just might last.

Even the overly long load times can't overshadow what is a fantastically substantial fighting game. If Marvel vs Capcom 3 was too wacky for your tastes, this sits comfortably between it and Street Fighter IV on the lunacy spectrum. The tag mechanic is brilliantly robust, there are loads of new moves to master and the Tekken characters slot in more comfortably than a bum in a favourite armchair. Welcome to your new favourite fighting game.

Strange question marks over weirdly simple missing features like the gallery or the need for more training options aren’t enough to mar this experience. In the end, it’s properly, wonderfully creative and brilliant – and proves that even the most disparate of series can be bedfellows if executed well.

Xbox 360Worth Playing
Street Fighter X Tekken is a great fighting game that feels somewhere between the more structured and serious play of Street Fighter IV and the craziness of Marvel vs. Capcom 3. The game gets juggle-heavy, and the various new fighting mechanics can feel overpowering to those who aren't familiar with recent fighting games. Despite mostly favoring Street Fighter, the Tekken characters don't feel underpowered, though Tekken players will have to abandon their habits if they want to play competitively. Coupled with the great technical feats and good online play, the game is fun one for genre fans. We'll have to see whether Namco Bandai can match this effort with its future Tekken X Street Fighter title.

Street Fighter X Tekken takes a tried and true formula and puts a fresh new twist on it, sprinkling just the right amount of Tekken mechanics into a revamped 2D fighting engine. Players are sure to find a character that suits their style in the large cast of characters, and Tekken fans will be pleased to find that their favorite characters play similarly to their 3D-style counterparts, often sharing the same command input found in Tekken games. The core gameplay is top notch and is sure to please even the most hardcore fighting gamer. This crossover series has been long anticipated and the wait was well worth it.

Capcom is on the ball when it comes to exciting fighting games. Say what you will about their DLC fiasco, but there’s no denying when it comes to what matters, Street Fighter X Tekken is one exhilarating fighting game that is easily recommended for Street Fighter fans. Even Tekken fans will get some enjoyment out of this, but how much they like 2D will be the final determining factor in how much they enjoy this fighter. Capcom has finished their end of the deal and come out with an A grade. The ball is in your court now Namco; how are you going to follow this evolution in fighting when challenged with fireballs in a 3D environment? I await the answer.

Although the game is not Tekken, CAPCOM have done a good job at porting these characters to the Street Fighter franchise and if you're hankering for a decent fighter, than you should definitely check out Street Fighter x Tekken which is the best fun I've had since... err... Ultimate Street Fighter vs Marvel. It may not have pushed the genre too much but at the end of the day, it offers an honest fighter that most gamers will enjoy!

Street Fighter X Tekken is easily the best fighting game I have played since Mortal Kombat landed last year. Sure, the story mode is a little contrived, and the gem system mildly flawed for tournament play, but the sheer amount of everything else completely outweighs it. I have been wrapped up in learning the combos and getting that sense I had back in the arcade days, when I actually wanted to master each character. The game is great for both Tekken and Street Fighter fans, and being a critic of the former, I am much more interested to see how Namco handles their end of the bargain now. If you like fighting games, this is a no-brainer. Street Fighter X Tekken will easily be my fighting game addiction of 2012, unless of course Rare shocks the world with a “killer” reboot.

Chapeau!

The fast pace of the combat and fluidity of the tag mechanics truly bring Street Fighter X Tekken to the top of the fighting game heap. The Gem system is a fine addition that manages to do something daring by offering some new strategy to the fighting, and the two rosters complement each other very well. Street Fighter X Tekken is a fantastic fighting game that nails the basic fighting mechanics while daring to take a few risks with the formula as we know it; the pressure is on Namco Bandai to deliver something better with Tekken X Street Fighter.

When it was all said and done, one can safely assume that fans of the Street Fighter series will be pleased with this new installment. While Tekken inspirations are definitely a bit scarce, Street Fighter X Tekken still retains the best elements of both franchises. As unlikely as this cross-over was, we couldn’t be more pleased with the end result. With a stellar all-star cast of characters, refined gameplay mechanics, stunning visuals, and an honest amount of content to keep players busy for a long time, Street Fighter X Tekken proves to be another worthy entry in Capcom’s cross-over series.

Fighting fans have been waiting a long time for such a crossover with two such popular fighting franchises. Luckily enough, Capcom does not disappoint. Both sides are well represented in the game. The game does suffer from some online lag and match-up problems, but overall Capcom sets the bar pretty high here. Now I can’t wait to see what Namco does with Tekken X Street Fighter.

Street Fighter X Tekken provides complex combat in an inviting package. The fighting genre needs to become accessible to a wider range of players, and this game takes an important step in the right direction. Accessibility that doesn't come at the expense of variety is a smart move and sets this fun and flashy fighter apart from the pack.

Street Fighter x Tekken is a great attempt attempting to tailor a game towards the hardcore and casual simultaneously, though it will be quite daunting for a fighting genre newbie with all the sets of special mechanics to memorize and when to use them appropriately. Id also be lying if I wasnt worried about a Super version coming out within a year, although Capcom says differently. Street Fighter x Tekken should be looked at for any fighting fan, as its a blend of both universes layered on top of some truly interesting and unique mechanics.

Despite the grim picture I seem to paint from the tournament side, there are actually tons of things for fight nerds like myself to get excited over in Street Fighter x Tekken. No other modern fighting game rewards good old fashioned footsies quite as much, allowing you to turn that game of inches, into brutal miles for your opponent. With the right spacing and timing, air to air counter hits can lead to devastating combos. And the whole Tekken side of the cast is brimming with technicality and power. Steve's flicker cancel combos and counter hit setups, Kaz's 1 frame electric wind god fists, Xiaoyu's phoenix stance shenanigans...there are some real depths ripe for the plumbing here. SFxT may already be a good video game, but it's also just a good patch or two away from being a great competitive fighting game.

Xbox 360Digital Chumps
Well beyond a simple mash-up, Street Fighter X Tekken impressed me with its ability to simultaneously cater to both the casual and hardcore. New players could have enough fun executing basic moves and playing around with gems while the elite could devour every inch of the Cross Gauge in their pursuit of mechanical perfection. While bridge linking casual to hardcore remains unstable the conduit responsible for channeling Tekken into Street Fighter's visage is surprisingly sound. From the perspective of a Tekken fan, that's all pretty impressive.
84
PlayStation 3PSX Extreme
Nevertheless, Street Fighter X Tekken is a really solid fighter with all sorts of flash and fan appeal. Many might question the new Pandora and Gem features, and the final boss is a colossal pain in the ass, but there’s no denying the extreme responsiveness, fluidity, and depth of the gameplay. It’s satisfying to the nth degree (if you’re willing to invest the practice time), and playing with others is always a blast and a half. The production values are high and the entire presentation is borderline glorious. And please, bear in mind that some of the drawbacks listed here are very personal.
83
Xbox 360Game Over Online
Street Fighter X Tekken is a great game in some ways and does a surprisingly good job of blending two completely different styles of fighting games. However, it's got too many rough edges to warrant a full-price purchase right now, and is definitely best-suited as a rental until the kinks are worked out. If that happens, then I'd say it's a worthy addition to any fighting fan's library for about $40.
83
PlayStation 3GameTrailers
Despite a confluence of uncertainty and doubt, Street Fighter x Tekken stands tall as a worthy fighter that ultimately succeeds in bringing the next step in Street Fighter’s ongoing evolution, though it certainly isn’t for everyone. It has little to offer fighting game fans bridled with brand fatigue and even less to Tekken players still wary of polarizing mechanics and the tricky jump to 2D. But in terms of keeping pace with innovation and bringing something new to the table, Street Fighter x Tekken duly makes the effort worth the while.

PlayStation 3GamingTrend
Capcom has taken advantage of their crossover opportunities, and usually the results have been great. However, Street Fighter X Tekken is frustrating. The actual fighting is great, and the roster is enjoyable. The Tekken characters are represented well. You wouldn’t think that the wait times would be that big of a deal, but it is a noticable amount of time waiting for each match. The online experience is incredibly flawed, making it not worth playing. If you can get past the wait times and don’t mind playing against the AI, then Street Fighter X Tekken is an enjoyable game and a worthy addition to your collection. I would just recommend having a fightstick if you are serious about playing.

PlayStation 3Canadian Online Gamers Network
Street Fighter X Tekken does a wonderful job at advancing the fighting game genre. The range of customizations, crossover moves and new combos is impressive. The fighting is enjoyable and the variety of ways in which you can punish your opponent is endless. This being said, I took issue with the exploitable imbalances, “infinite combos”, some of the lag and choppiness; and elements of the games sound did not work. I cannot help but think the game could have benefited from a few more months in the shop. Nevertheless, Street Fighter X Tekken is still a highly enjoyable game and one that should be considered a very good fighting game experience.

Xbox 360AusGamers
Ultimately, the marks against this joyous union are few and -- in most cases -- have the potential to be remedied. Street Fighter X Tekken manages what I had previously thought unthinkable: merging the personalities, rosters and history of two stalwart franchises into one enjoyable package. If you have love for either brand of fisticuffs and you've got some friends to fight within close proximity, I can't recommend this highly enough.

PlayStation 3NZGamer
Overall, Street Fighter X Tekken brings it in some places and slides by in others, yet it manages to be one of the best crossover fighting games in recent memory. It was a pleasant surprise to see how well the Tekken fighters made the transition into 2D, especially given the slower pace of their original series.

'Street Fighter x Tekken' is a fighting game designed for fans of the genre. The robust training and practice options offer help for newcomers to learn the basics and lets veterans’ train in some of the new gameplay. The short Arcade mode will only appeal to diehard fans of either “Street Fighter” or “Tekken” and some of the customization does not offer as much depth as it could have. However, the polished gameplay makes for hectic online matches despite that one cannot find a lot of variety online. If you are looking for a fighting game where the emphasis is on balanced gameplay and challenging traditional online matches then “Street Fighter x Tekken” is a safe choice. If you are looking for a more casual fighting game experience with a focus on varied game modes and group play then 'Street Fighter x Tekken' may not be for you.

Xbox 360Games Radar
Whichever version you spring for, you can expect another fast, fun, and technical Capcom fighting experience. The online code seems problematic, but that’s hardly enough to sink what’s otherwise another top-tier Capcom fighter. It’s actually kind of amazing to see a fighter where literally half the cast is basically new. That’s a lot to take in, so you’d best be ready to learn some new strokes if you want to swim in these turbulent crossover seas.
80
Xbox 360Official XBox Magazine
Whether these bundles provide an unfair advantage has yet to be seen, but Capcom does plan to support the game with robust DLC, which will likely alleviate some of the “advantage” of the limited-edition bundles. We’re excited to see which additional characters make the cut in future DLC, but the current 38 characters and all-new fighting system are well worth the purchase price regardless.

Xbox 360Game Revolution
That said, Street Fighter X Tekken is among the most enjoyable fighters I've played in a long time, especially in co-op and Scramble Mode with some friends over (I've already taken names with my Abel/King team). Online mode is no slouch either, though the replay value could have been extended with a longer Mission Mode and a better acquisition system for gems. Still, it shows that Capcom is more than capable of pulling off a tag team crossover that really shouldn't have worked. It makes me wonder whether Street Fighter X Mortal Kombat will finally become a reality. (And what would be the DLC...)

With nearly forty characters split between the franchises, Street Fighter x Tekken is one of the most ambitious crossover (oh, now I get the title!) fighting games out there. Squishing the Tekken cast’s moveset down a dimension seems like sacrilege, but through some kind of black magic it actually worked. It’s got fan service where it counts, too - familiar character themes appear in the soundtrack, win quotes will often comment on specificities of other characters, and there are even some custom introductions for certain pairs of characters. It’ll be interesting to see if the game has legs within the community, or if it will be remembered as some bizarre experiment. Either way, Street Fighter x Tekken is quite a feat.

At this point, the fighting game scene has never been bigger or more exciting. There are more tournaments and there's more money than ever before, and multiple publishers are vying for gamers' attention, as these big tournaments sell copies and get people playing all over the world. Street Fighter x Tekken probably has a few minor balance issues, but I'm more concerned with its issues for the rank-and-file online players, especially those on 360 that are missing an online mode entirely for no good reason that I can see. If you get some good players together in a house to just play, that's where Cross Tekken (as I've heard it called more than a few times) does its best. If you're an online warrior, stick with what you've got and wait to see what Capcom does with its online issues. All that said, the game's fundamentals are great, and the fighting action is wonderful.

As an experiment and a sequel, though, Street Fighter X Tekken is still a resounding and admirable success, and further proof than Ono-san is hiding true genius behind those scruffy cords and pudgy cheeks. In this battle of Street Fighter and Tekken, Capcom has landed the first knockout blow. I can't wait to see how Namco responds.

Capcom has often been accused of iterating on its fighting games too much, with SFXT that’s definitely not the case. This is a fighting game which truly innovates in a number of key areas. It attempts to make it easier for newcomers to find a path into the myriad options and tactical load-outs without sacrificing any of the complexities which could make this a viable long-term option for the tournament scene. There’s only so much a developer can do within a genre, of course, but this feels like the first time in a while that big changes have been made with such resounding success.

While not without its problems and questionable design decisions, Street Fighter X Tekken is miraculous in that it even works at all. It simply shouldn’t. Namco has the tougher job when it comes to filling out the fireballs and crazy mix-up games of characters designed to operate on a 2D plane, sure, but you can’t take anything away from Capcom’s efforts simply because some mountains are bigger than others. Like so many modern fighters, there’s a decent argument to be made that SFXT could use some more single player content – it offers little beyond the nonsensical narrative of Arcade mode and various missions and trials – but as we’ve said of other fighters before, it’s a multiplayer-focused game. AI will never truly match the nuances, habits and mistakes of a human player, so why would anyone buy a fighter exclusively to play it single player? That’s like buying a Frisbee to chuck around in the park on your own.

In closing, Street Fighter X Tekken is much more than an amalgamation of two classic series. The game builds on Street Fighter IV's award-winning formula by introducing innovative new mechanics, and the result is one of the most tactically rich fighters on the market. We can only hope that Namco's Tekken X Street Fighter lives up to these high standards when it sees the light of day.

Street Fighter x Tekken was a gamble for both Capcom and Namco Bandai. Had Capcom got the mixture wrong, it would have not only sullied its own credentials but that of (arguably) the two greatest fighting franchises of all time. This isn’t the case. Capcom has delivered on the potential of the cross-over template admirably and created a game that’s hugely engaging, always entertaining and feels like an easily justifiable extension to both Street Fighter and Tekken brands. It is disappointing that the online element isn’t yet up to scratch, but when this issue is resolved Street Fighter x Tekken should have no problems standing on its own two feet.

Even so, Street Fighter X Tekken provides complex combat in an inviting package. The fighting genre needs to become accessible to a wider range of players, and this game takes an important step in the right direction. Accessibility that doesn't come at the expense of variety is a smart move and sets this fun and flashy fighter apart from the pack.

Even with its noticeable problems, and a fiasco at launch over DLC, I would still recommend SFXT. It is a fundamentally sound fighting game that introduces some unique (if slightly flawed) mechanics to the genre, and serves up a system that is both accessible for newcomers and deep enough for die hard veterans. Both the character and background animations are fantastic, the cheesy voice acting is on point, and the soundtrack is bar-none the best I’ve heard in a fighting game in years. If you’re getting tired of SF4, and Soul Caliber V or Mortal Kombat aren’t up your alley, then this is one you won’t want to pass up.

Not having played a fighter since the first iteration of Street Fighter IV probably did me favours in making this mash-up of cosmic proportions appear fresher than it will for others, but if you're a fan of either franchise there's a whole lot on offer bound to intrigue and satisfy.

Overall, Street Fighter X Tekken is a decent value. Its roster is huge, its mechanics are interesting, and it will certainly keep you playing for quite a while. Will it dethrone Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition Version 2012 as the king of fighting games? I'm not entirely sure about that. There will probably be more than enough people put off by the more aggressive gameplay to split the fighting game fan base. Outside of these factors, Street Fighter X Tekken is well worth its price tag. It's a great game that could have been done better, but wasn't.

Xbox 360UGO (UnderGroundOnline)
Street Fighter X Tekken seems to be focused strictly on multiplayer gameplay, whether it be local or online play, but its glaring issues make this nearly impossible. With no separate Story Mode and an Arcade mode that can be run through in under an hour, it is clear that Capcom's latest title has one purpose: Versus mode. When the game works, it is a fun experience. The absurd load times and dysfunctional online play, however, ruin the game's solid momentum, turning Street Fighter X Tekken into more of a headache than a memorable experience.

If Tekken characters aren’t your jam—even though they are now essentially re-skinned Street Fighter characters—or if you simply still have fun playing Street Fighter 4 (or its “Super” or “Arcade Edition” increments) then you don’t necessarily need to make the jump to SF X T. It’s fun, but some fans will no doubt prefer Capcom’s last Street Fighter game. However, if you’ve been clamoring for more after the recent glut of 2D gameplay fighting games, then you’ll be safe in picking up Street Fighter X Tekken – just make sure to play offline.

It’s hard not to recommend SFXT to fans of the genre. There’s so much here to learn and so many new things to exploit that it’ll take a long while before you’ve mastered it. Conversely, that’s also its biggest hurdle; while its tutorials and gems make it an easier stepping stone for newcomers, it can also be quite overwhelming. SFXT has managed to incorporate all the best elements of both Tekken and Street Fighter, increasing its depth twofold, while somehow still managing to make it more accessible than regular SFIV. If the sheer amount of stuff doesn’t scare you away, you’ll be appreciating SFXT for a long while.

Still, you can’t help but feel that Street Fighter X Tekken should have added something else significant to truly advance the genre. As it stands, Street Fighter X Tekken is a very solid fighter that feels too similar to its ancestors.

A lot of the newer characters are downright hideous (Hugo, Rufus), but Poison is drop-dead gorgeous. In terms of pure gameplay, the 2D action here is superior to most 3D fighters. The controls feel tighter and it's just more fun. The bouncy, uptempo music is appealing and I like how the voices are Japanese. This game is tailored to two-player and on-line action. The arcade mode is lame because there's unlimited continues, no score, and the AI is suspect. Final boss Akuma is pretty cheap - the screen goes black, fireworks go off, and you're dead. If you do win, you are rewarded with a "Thank you for playing" message. You're not welcome! The "challenge mode" is just plain tedious. Lousy single-player support and a prominent on-line "store" give this one the look of a money grab. Still, Street Fighter X Tekken is a blast if you're playing on-line or head-to-head.

There's plenty to enjoy in SFxTK: the cast is second-to-none, it's vibrant and never takes itself too seriously, but you almost wish it would. There was an opportunity for a truly great technical fighter in combining Street Fighter and Tekken, but it's denied in favour of a strategy-light, juggle-heavy scrapper that — like Capcom's other cross-company crossover all those years ago — never quite satisfies.

This is no doubt a product of the fact that, as part of the deal that secured this title, Namco are supposedly at work on their version of the cross-over – Tekken X Street Fighter. While there is no release date (and indeed little in the way of progress being made according to recent reports), it looks set to present the Tekken take on the crossover. The result will be another title for the fans, and another revenue stream for the developers, but it seems that this has been at the expense of undertaking the sort of collaborative effort that could have made this title something great.

As a fighting game, Street Fighter X Tekken is a solid offering that is sure to appeal to both Street Fighter and Tekken franchise fans. If the PC is your only gaming option and you play primarily offline, then go ahead and pick up this one up. You won't be disappointed. If you also game on a console, though, there is little reason to go PC. Sure, you can get a higher resolution image and minimal loading times, but in terms of overall patch level and feature set, the PC version is currently inferior to the console options.

Xbox 360Calm Down Tom
Overall SFxT boasts the 2D fighting style of the street fighter series with the flare of the Tekken series. With a whole host of mechanics to boast and a character roster to match you will find plenty of combinations and possibilities to immerse yourself in. All in all the game has both its ups and downs and it can occasionally be pretty frustrating but you get over the issues as you learn new and interesting combos to take down your Tekken/Streetfighter enemies.

Xbox 360Anime News Network
It's a shame that Street Fighter X Tekken can't escape problems that aren't really its fault. The core gameplay is fast-paced and just different enough from the common Street Fighter, and it'd stand well enough on its own. Unfortunately, the Gem system drags down the competitive angle for no real reason, and it's hard to justify paying full price for something with a decent chunk of material needlessly locked away. Street Fighter X Tekken is the right kind of crossover, but it's being sold the wrong way.

Has fantastic parts, but isn’t the sum of them. Wait for the inevitable remix version, which may fix some of the problems.

So long as it's consumed in an environment where all you're doing is playing offline, like at an arcade or in someone's living room, Street Fighter X Tekken's excellent engine is enough to carry the game. Delve any deeper, however, and that excellence serves only to highlight each tragic decision that frames it. Capcom has spent countless hours meticulously crafting the gaming equivalent of a Ferrari 458's V8 engine, only to shove it under the hood of a 1987 Chevy Caprice on cinderblocks.

It's a shame that the online is so off, because like I said before, the core of Street Fighter X Tekken is really cool. Even if you decide to ignore the Tekken characters, the fighters you know well from previous Capcom fighting games feel different because of the game's juggle system. And the Tekken fighters bring the whole thing up to a rather large roster of playable characters, giving you plenty--almost too much, actually--to learn. With cleaner online play it'd be easier to recommend, but if you don't mind an extra helping of Internet weirdness or have enough locals nearby to let you compete offline, it can be a hell of a good time.

Capcom has crafted a video game crossover that few would have ever believed possible. Part of that disbelief will undoubtedly come from how poorly the Tekken characters’ signature style and feel were retained during the conversion, and the rest will come from the major bugs, missing features, and locked content. While there is a competent fighter to be had, the woeful way in which Capcom has blatantly stripped out significant chunks and promised features, or locked away vital content that already exists on the disc, all with the vile intent of having you pay for it again, makes this a hard game to recommend. Since Capcom only seems to think about your wallet when releasing its games, you should too before buying into their bullshit.
