Stupid Invaders, from the deranged Xilam Studios, is enough to make me believe in the adventure genre again. It's just delirious pure adventure pleasure from beginning to end.

What adventure lovers will appreciate the most about this game, I think, is the fact that, with all its polish and rich production values, it's still at heart a completely traditional third-person point-and-click adventure. Those weary of tricky keyboard-controlled games, rejoice! Those wary of action/adventure hybrids, dance in the streets! Those who found Gabriel Knight III and even The Longest Journey a little too serious and wordy, get down and get funky! Stupid Invaders is here! Stop reading. Start ordering.

The same way a movie like Weird Science would never be considered for an Oscar, Stupid Invaders makes no pretense about being a landmark game. This one is all about humor and fun factor, and though I can't say it would rank high on my list of great games, it works just fine for me. If you like to be entertained and don't mind a little potty humor, this one is for you.

In some ways, playing Stupid Invaders is like watching a magnificent Saturday morning cartoon with momentary pauses while you take time to address certain challenges. I love the silliness and the visual charm, and for me -- despite its gameplay deficiencies -- this title is pretty much an unmitigated success. The play experience from beginning to end went by all too fast, and I ended up longing for more. If that means that I am attracted to stupidity, then so be it. You will not see better graphics, or hear better sound effects and music, or laugh more at absolutely zany jokes in a cartoon adventure on either a computer or movie screen. While puzzle purists, overly serious adventurers, and those hung up on extensive character interaction may feel a bit disappointed with this release, I feel that Stupid Invaders fires on every cylinder in an utterly satisfying and, indeed, memorable way.

Anticipation has been running high regarding this game and after playing it I can attest that it is not just hype. Stupid Invaders has a lot going for it, while not a funny as I was expecting, it is still a very humours game. With luminous graphics, dozens of different locations to explore, and a zany set of characters to interact with it is a value at the retail price of $30 US. Oh and it has toilets… lots of them.

Humor was a crucial element of this game. The developers kept saying that they adored Monty Python's Flying Circus, and that they would implement that type of humor in this game. To be quite honest, I expected to see much more absurd jokes and surreal situations... though, I'd say that the big factory with cows hanging from the walls producing... (no, not milk)... er... whatever does well represent the Monty Python style. The game is also abundant with dirty jokes and humor like in Sam'n'Max Hit the Road. Well, all in all I had a nice time playing the Stupid Invaders. Still, if you are a serious adventure player, it won't take you more than a day or two to complete all four disks...

Probably a Stupid Invaders version in 25 CDs, with the original Lucas engine could have been the best adventure ever, but here we have a short adventure with great atmosphere, a hilarious plot, great cutscenes, awesome voice acting, good music, some impossible to solve puzzles, some bugs and the feeling that it could have been so much better. Kudos go to the guy that invented the Stupid Invaders first and my guess is that someone that developed the game is really interested in excrements, play the game if you want to know more, I'm not going to talk about poo poo here...

Zwar torpedieren
allerlei Nerv-Details (nicht
abkürzbare Dialoge und
ständiges Sterben) ganz tüchtig den Spielspaß,
versenken können sie ihn aber nicht.
Sobald das erste Kapitel überstanden ist, wird
Stupid Invaders von Stunde zu Stunde besser.
Was anfangs unwitzig daherkommt, wird
lustig, vor allem durch die die zahlreichen
Filmchen. Auch die Rätsel legen an Knackigkeit
zu. Selbst wenn das Adventure nie
wirklich in die Regionen eines
LucasArts-Titels
vorstößt, ist es doch ein würdiger Vertreter
seines Genres.

I enjoyed this game from beginning to end. Mainly just because of the humor and the anticipation of what the aliens will say next. Overall, this game isn’t as bad as some people make it out to be. I would have to say that it is worth its lower price tag that stores are selling it at now. If anything, at least rent this game on a weekend where you have the time to beat it.

Stupid Invaders is two parts magic, one part dirty underwear. If you're willing to put up with some weird glitches, some frustrating game design, and some slow pacing, you'll find some of the weirdest and best humor in years. Just get your mouse-fishing hand ready.

As delightful and funny as Stupid Invaders is, the main flaw is the lack of replay value. You can only play the game over and over again so much before all the funny sequences are memorized. Furthermore, I'm not a huge fan of this genre for one major reason; there's little depth involved in these games. The puzzles aren't that clever as they usually involve finding the right item for the right situation. Still, there's something to be said about the laughs you get when you watch our Stupid Invaders in action.

Stupid Invaders is a game I’ve played through once, and will likely never play through again. While it was mildly entertaining in the beginning, with a good use of CGI to portray the cartoony characters, the shine wore off of the package after the second “let’s solve this problem with high strength acid!” joke. I might suggest this as a rental if you’re really bored and have a lot of time on your hands. However, for the rest of you, I’d skip it and avoid the horror of the Santa Claus scene.

DreamcastThe Next Level
While I certainly enjoyed the experience Stupid Invaders offered, it's unfortunately short-lived and its fault lies in the lack of replay value. Plus, there's not enough interaction (there's so many objects which would've made the game more exciting if they were accessible). In all honesty, you can only play this game but so many times before you're simply tired of playing it. Perhaps if the game featured some hidden levels, or the puzzles were randomly generated with some new surprises, much like the way ESP did with the dungeons in Evolution, then perhaps returning to this game again would have some warrant. Unfortunately, once you've been through all of the puzzles (even if it's just to see the failure sequences), Stupid Invaders provides very little depth and it's very linear.

DreamcastDefunct Games
To be totally blunt, Stupid Invaders is not really the kind of thing you'd expect to find on the Dreamcast - it's actually more like an early PC game, and for that reason it's hard to recommend. On the flip side, it's quite an interesting little title and for the same reasons is something collectors should track down if only for the novelty value.

DreamcastGame Informer Magazine
One could possibly forgive these flaws if the game had an enjoyable quirk factor, but it delivers nothing of the sort - unless you're developmentally impaired and still think the mere process of going to the bathroom is absolutely hilarious. For those of you who don't bust out laughing every time you whiz, spend your gaming energy elsewhere.

I'm a long-time fan of humorous graphic adventures but this one hasn't lived up to my high standards. Maybe it excels with its graphics but it tries too hard to be funny and many jokes don't work at all. Although I wouldn't award Stupid Invaders any prizes for the humour or the gameplay you, of course, might feel differently.

As a game, Stupid Invaders is one of a rapidly dying species -- the point-and-click adventure. Normally, the greatest appeal of this type of game is its simplicity, but Stupid Invaders has one of the worst interfaces I have seen. Clicking in the general area where you want your character to walk is evidently not enough -- Stupid Invaders expects you to click on the exact spot the developers had in mind. This is incredibly frustrating, forcing you to click half a dozen times or more before anything happens.
