My advice is simple, forget the rest, buy this package - you won't regret it.

Deuxième version de ce superbe jeu d'arcade qui avait déjà remporté, au début 85, le Tilt d'or pour son graphisme sensationnel. Epyx relève son propre défi, Summer Game II surpasse son prédécesseur.

The sports simulation to end all sports simulations

And the icing on the cake, for many, was the way Epyx even thoughtfully saved all your world records on the game disk. Booting up the game in preparation, it was a real trip to note there were still records dating back to 1989 on there - from friends I've long since lost touch with. The biggest surprise of all was finding out how little the game has aged in gameplay terms. Epyx were the kings of multi-sports games in the '80s, and it's debatable whether anyone has ever matched its feats.

Ask any 64 gamer what, in their opinion, is the best sports simulation on the market and chances are they will say International Soccer. That opinion is going to change - Summer Games II must now take the gold.

This is an ideal introduction to the series, with no single event that stands out as being weak and a fair few that are just plain fun. For two or more players this is a must purchase, and if you generally enjoy sports games then you won’t go far wrong here.

So, another old sports game which varies depending on the event. It's aged a lot better than World Games, simply because these events are often better suited to the videogame format than log rolling and caber tossing, but it's still a game where you'll be amused and annoyed in equal measure.

Summer Games II is part of the overall "Games" series of Epyx Commodore titles that also famously included classic hits like Winter Games and California Games. Its name recognition, pedigree and intact nostalgic value will make it a hit here on the Virtual Console for a select group of players who remember enjoying the original release on the C64 back in the '80s -- it even came it at #3 in a recent Retro channel article on the Top 10 Olympics Videogames, on the strength of those warm memories. So if you're a member of that audience, download away.
