What a completely awesome game! JVC/LucasArts sure know how to program. This game lives up to its expectations all the way. Just wait till you see the incredible mode 7 scenes, they'll make you dizzy. And, you'll be blown away by the music. Super Star Wars is awesome.

Super Star Wars makes full potential of its licence and the end result is the best-looking, most impressive sounding and playable movie tie-ins ever seen on the Super NES.

Super Star Wars is still one of the better games to bare the name. Good graphics and surprisingly tight control make for a quality gaming experience. The levels do get a bit repetitive but it never really seems to take away from the game. SSW does have a darkside, such as bad vehicle levels and somewhat odd bosses popping up at the end of certain stages. All in all SSW was a step in the right direction, putting Lucas Arts as a game developer on the map. JVC also published the two sequels as well as putting Indiana Jones into the mix using the same style that made SSW a success.

If you grew up in the 16-bit era, this was one of those titles you just had to have. It really is a classic, though I'm sure the carts will become quite rare in a few years as more are smashed against walls in fits of anger. If that special edition ever does happen, it needs to made easier and Han should always shoot first.

It had to happen eventually. The only thing LucasArts loved more than pimping out its Star Wars franchise was staying on the cutting edge of technology. So when scrolling action platformers became the new buzzword, you could have bet dollars to doughnuts that you'd be seeing a scrolling action platformer Star Wars title. This is that game.

The controls are tight, but I must admit you're too often asked to make "leaps of faith". Some of the platform jumping can be downright tedious, with the hellacious Java sandcrawler stage serving as a prime example. The stage difficulty uneven, and cheap hits are also a problem. The only way I've managed to finish the game is to locate the "secret cave" containing 99 extra lives. Since there's no save or password feature, you may find yourself playing into the wee hours of the morning, and by then the jumping and shooting will have gotten pretty old. A better option is to obtain the cheat code, which lets you select your stage. It's not perfect, but Super Star Wars is a quality title, and it's the main reason at least one of my friends purchased their SNES system.
