Description
Tank Hunter is an arcade shooter in which the player controls a tank from a first-person perspective. Since it's an enhanced version of the developer's
WarZone, it employs vector graphics as well. Among the changes compared to the original game are the power-ups, additional enemy combat units and improved graphics. In
Tank Hunter the player is dispatched to other planets in the galaxy and must complete several missions. The objectives range from destroying a set number of enemy tanks to collecting power-ups.
There are only four types of enemy units: standard tank, super tank, phantom tank and hovermines. Super tanks require more effort to kill, while the phantom tanks can render themselves invisible. The hovermines explode when they touch the player's tank. If it receives too much damage the game is over, and the player must start again from the first mission. To avoid this, it's essential to use the power-ups which are sometimes dropped by destroyed enemy tanks. The shield grants temporary invulnerability, the repair power-up restores the player's armor and the laser is technically a faster alternative to the main cannon. All units, obstacles and power-ups are displayed on the mini map (radar).
