Neo GeoThe Video Game Critic
Thrash Rally may not be a showcase title for the Neo Geo, but it's certainly no slouch in the fun department.
ArcadeAll Game Guide
That's not to say that the game is totally devoid of fun as it can be the first few times you play. But this genre of game has many inherent opportunities to impress the gamer and keep them interested, something this game doesn't do.

Overall, I found Rally Chase to be very enjoyable. The game play is very quick, which keeps you on your toes and interested. I wish there were more tracks in the game. Six tracks just isn’t enough. I also wish there were more cars. While there are 9 cars, I stuck with the two cars with the best stats. At the end of the day though, the game is fun. I rather enjoyed racing through the World Championship mode trying to post better times and finishes. I just wish there was more.
Neo GeoAll Game Guide
Thrash Rally, one of the earlier games designed for the combination home/arcade NeoGeo system, filled a void for action style racing games on the system. However, you get the impression that in fact, that was the game's only purpose. What is usually an exciting style of game, at least for this reviewer, ended up entirely mediocre.
Neo GeoDefunct Games
Actually, while the game does offer quite a bit of replay, it's simply frustrating how low it set its sites. Mediocre at best.

Though racing games were almost always a bust on the Geo, you'll be much better off with the much later Neo Drift Out. It's in the same genre, same view, and the same style of racing, but it does everything better. Even though Thrash Rally can now be picked up for less than $30 on E-Bay, there's plenty of other games worth your money on this system.
