Professionally produced, but doesn't really take advantage of today's PCs and is lacking any configurability. Also just a bit too easy and repetitive for a mature player, but probably good fun for the pre-teen Turtles fans.

A nice variety of levels, some of the trademark Turtles humor, and a story that defies expectation (and credulity) round out the main game. A number of unlockable extras include some amusing videos as well as VR style challenge maps for a little added action. Through it all, the folks at Ubisoft Montreal get across the action and speed that has always made these characters fun. Because of that, even though the levels are ridiculously easy, I think even more experienced gamers could enjoy themselves as I did. TMNT is about as simple as they come, but then again, so was Vanilla Ice’s “Ninja Rap”, and you remember how the world ate that one up.

TMNT is new birth for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle franchise, and Ubisoft Montreal did an exceptional job caring over the feel of the legendary Turtle team. TMNT is a pure arcade action game that reminisces with the Turtles arcade game of the past which a little more combat and fast paced platforming sequences. TMNT is perfect for what it is, but it definitely could have been a lot more. Its unfortunate Ubisoft didn’t go with a four player game, or any Xbox Live features. Games without Multiplayer have to be strong in substance in the single player aspects, and even though TMNT is fun, it’s not good enough to fill the void of no multiplayer, or co-operative play. If you also add in the short span of time it takes you to complete TMNT it’s hard to recommend as a straight out buy. TMNT is definitely worth a rental, but I’d wait out for a buy.

You can't fault the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles the merchandising nightmare they've been dealt over the years - after all, they didn't make all those lunch boxes, backpacks or toaster cozies. If you judge TMNT on its own merits as a platform-hopper with a dash of semi-imaginative combat thrown in, then it's a fine game. Does it completely redeem the decades of cash-grabbing that plague the franchise? Not quite, but all I really care about is whether or not it's fun to play, and though it only takes about four to six hours to beat, I still found myself enjoying my time with it.

TMNT ends up being fun but extremely basic. There is lots of speedy platforming coupled with a simple beat-'em-up fighting style, which makes for a brief but mostly unsatisfying experience. Hardcore fans may wholly enjoy TMNT, but casual fans should steer clear of this game, which is almost shorter than its title.

Between the overly simplistic combat and sometimes-obnoxious platforming sequences, TMNT is like a man without a country. Younger audiences are likely to balk at some of the more frustrating elements of the platforming, and older players are going to be bored to tears by the effortless fighting mechanics. The moments when you actually do find yourself having fun with TMNT are just frequent enough to prevent the game from being wholly unadvisable to fans of the film desperate to take part in some interactive Turtle adventures, but for everyone else, TMNT is one you can safely pass on.

The bottom line is that the production values are good and it’s the best TMNT game we’ve seen in some time. Overall, the game doesn’t quite feel inspired. It’s easy and fairly short, and after you run through an inventive and interesting platform area you’ll be feeling yourself sighing “oh oh” as the enemies start to fall from the sky. It just feels boring in these sections and if it wasn’t for the fact that you have to go through these fights so often it might work better. If you’re a fan of the series, it’s definitely worth looking into. If you’re looking for a new platforming experience with some action thrown in with a non-human character, try checking out ‘The Legend of Kay’ at your local retailer. You’ll find it more enjoyable in the long run.

TMNT has some legitimately neat platforming sequences, but it's more frustrating than a kid-oriented game ought to be, and the combat is completely brain-dead.

To call TMNT impressive is to give it too much credit, but to call it junk is to give it too little. It's clear that Ubisoft Montreal took a fair amount of effort with this title, but it's also clear that sometimes, a design can really mess up a game on more than one level. This could easily have received an 8.0 with co-op for the appropriate levels (and there are plenty of them). As it stands, the game emphasizes the Turtle in the solitary more than the Turtles as a family, wrecking a major plot thematic and seriously limiting the game. If you're looking for a short Prince of Persia-type diversion, TMNT would be far from the worst choice I can imagine, and it is definitely nice to see someone remembering the "ninja" part of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles name, getting across the humor and style of the characters well. And yes, there's a Rabbids cameo.

Here's your average weekend game! That's all I can say about TMNT and it's a pitty, specially because it had a lot of potential and also because the PC version is far better. That's the price that games made after famous movies and comics have to pay. Look at what happened to Ghost Rider, 300: March to Glory and all the Spiderman titles. The producers are waisting the opportunity to exploit wonderful franchises, being too focused on getting the game out before the movie is released. Turtles, get back in that shell!

In summing up without any shadow of doubt, TMNT is a damn fine game to play through and took me back down memory lane… but my fun was short lived with little desire to play through again and is much more fun to play on the Nintendo Wii. This is most certainly in the rent category and for the gamer score whores a very easy ride indeed.

TMNT was made with a clear audience in mind and it seems to have hit its mark dead on. It should provide an entertaining ninja experience for the under 10 market but in doing so can't be recommended to more experienced gamers. If you're old enough to remember the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on pre-32-Bit hardware, you'll sadly fall into the latter category.

TMNT can be described as a light version of Prince of Persia, but don't let that fool you into thinking you'll get a similar experience. The gameplay here is designed with a small child in mind and even then it may be too easy. Videogames are fun because they challenge us or stimulate our minds in some way. TMNT doesn't. With no co-operative mode available, single-button combat, and straightforward level design, all you're left with are some nice animations and decent platforming that just don't carry the weight.

It’s unfortunate that the first TMNT effort on Nintendo Wii didn’t turn out so well. As a childhood fan of the movies, television series, and toys, I was hoping for more from Ubisoft’s first effort. They show promise, but future Turtles games need to have more of the awesome platform elements with a hint, maybe a spoonful of a fun, working combat system.

Perhaps the real disgrace is that a generally dependable studio, Ubisoft Montreal, is behind this monstrosity. What happened? Is this really a game the team would stand behind? Sure, it was going to make money one way or another - it's a licence title. But that is no excuse for this kind of shill. The company was handed a great licence with lots of potential for satisfying action, kung-fu, multiplayer and likeable characters and they still sold the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles up the river. Or should we say, down the drain?

But these bonuses are not enough to save TMNT from its mediocrity. It is a bit of a shame that a game that features a crime-fighting foursome and pays so much lip service to teamwork feels like such a solitary adventure. But TMNT suffers all around from offering less than gamers might expect. The simple controls make the game accessible to young players, but kids with some gaming experience will likely find themselves wishing for more after a couple hours of play. As such, TMNT is a good choice for a weekend rental, but only die-hard fans of the wise-cracking heroes will enjoy having it in their collections.

The graphics are more detailed that the cel-shaded visuals of the previous game, but the use of color is surprisingly restrained. As a matter of fact, many stages are primarily rendered in black and white. They won't wow you, but you can always tell what's happening, and I had no issues with the camera. The audio features an understated but well orchestrated musical score, and the voice acting during the cut-scenes is exceptionally good. Expect to hear a lot of goofy dialogue like "awesome super sensationalistic bro!!" Oh yeah - there's one other thing you need to know about TMNT: It's one-player only! That's right, you can "tag-team" with your three "bro's", but you only control one turtle at a time! That's disappointing, but TMNT still exudes a degree of enthusiasm and polish that makes it hard to dislike.

For a game which has 4 heroes to choose from who have an already established fan base, it's a shame there was no multipayer option. At first glance its a dumbed down version of Prince of Persia.. at second glance, it’s just bad. Im giving it 5 as well.

This could have been the greatest four-player brawler in history. Seriously, it could have - with deep, coordinated multi-player combat and vast, multi-tiered levels full of environmental puzzles and surprises. But, like the film itself, the game aims low and ends up typical and forgettable. It's even short, at maybe six hours if you stretch it. If this was a real turtle, it would be the one sitting on the side of the road watching cars whiz by, not the one lacing 'em up to take on the rabbit and the road and dare its way to immortality in the history books.

One problem with this game is the enemy artificial intelligence (A.I.) — or rather, lack thereof — that makes the game too easy and monotonous, even when 10 enemies appear on-screen at the same time. The somewhat tougher boss characters you'll face from time to time can also be beaten with little effort. Granted, TMNT is more for kids than adults, but a game that costs up to $50 should offer some degree of challenge and replayability.

Because of its unoriginal game play and boring fighting sequences, TMNT is at best a weekend rental for young fans of the movie. TMNT is a disappointment considering Ubisoft Montreal’s track record and the strength of the concept at the heart of the game. A platforming-heavy Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game on par with the likes of Prince of Persia would have been an amazing rebirth for the franchise, but as it stands the game just feels like a mish-mash of under-developed ideas. Diehard fans of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles should give the game a rental if only for the satisfaction they might glean from the solid-if-unspectacular platforming and watching the new, agile turtles explore 3D space for the first time. For the rest of the gaming public those minor highs won’t be enough to off-set the boring combat, lack of co-operative play and non-existent challenge.

Very little distinguishes TMNT from any other platform game. Players get to run up and down walls, quickly crawl across ledges and jump from place to place, all the while collecting coins and stopping to battle with minions. The end of every level tallies up a score based on how much damage was received in combat, how much time it took and how many coins were picked up. Better scores unlock special levels and earn points to unlock bonus materials, like art and movie clips. Timed matches would have added replay value, but the system matches the straightforward gameplay for the most part.

Fans of the characters can continue their wait for a proper video game revival. The Turtles themselves may be hot on screen and on toy shelves, yet the game industry continues to fumble the license. This Wii adaptation hardly helps matters.

If you like the sound of a game which feels a lot like playing an extremely early build of Prince Of Persia: Sands Of Time on a broken television then go ahead and drop forty notes on this abomination. Lack of multiplayer in a Turtles game is a joke and though it may have looked for a while like the days of the cynical movie license cash-in were coming to a close, thank God for titles like X-Men and Turtles for keeping the dream alive and making every other game out there look a whole lot better by comparison.
