How many times have you heard or said “Geez … I feel old”? Lately, all of these game remakes of things that I grew up with have made me start feeling this way. Pac Man is now a 3-D yellow ball who does everything but the dishes, and Donkey Kong and Mario play 3-D board games together. In similar light, cartoons have evolved into things which are more based on “summon the dragon from a card and trap it in a ball to enter a digital world”, which is different from what I grew up with. Even Transformers went computer graphics on me for crying out loud with Beast Wars! Well, I am still happy to say that Cartoon Network airs some “classic” programming that people my age can appreciate.

Even though it doesn't stack up to other fighting games in terms of depth or polish, Tom and Jerry: War of the Whiskers is worthy of some respect. Tom and Jerry: War of the Whiskers is a fighting game of sorts. It's even rated T for Teen due to its comic violence. Nevertheless, with cute characters like Tom the tomcat and his mouse pal/archenemy, Jerry, the game's target audience definitely isn't the same as the one flocking to the latest iterations of Tekken or Virtua Fighter.

Since the game is so simplistic, I'd say it might make a good party game, but for a single person, this game will last a couple hours at best unless you're a really big Tom and Jerry fan. However, for the multiplayer only, if you can get a copy at Target, where the game should still be available for $17, the game is certainly worth that, at least for those of you who have somebody else to play with.
