Rainbow Six 3 is an extremely fun game that takes the basics gameplay of Ghost Recon that had everybody hooked last year and dresses it up with prettier graphics and lots of extra functionality. The co-operative gameplay options are outstanding and set the bar quite high for every online shooter on the way to Xbox including the mighty Halo 2. I enjoyed RS3 for hours at a time even though on the surface it just looks like a stripped down version of the PC game that came out months ago. But the game just keeps drawing you in with one feature or another until you're completely under its spell.

Rainbow Six 3 doesn’t do things very different than others in its genre. It simplified enough of the PC features to make it an excellent console game. It has great graphics and sound and the gameplay is excellent. There’s a reason why Rainbow Six 3 is being played continuously over Xbox Live.

If you are a current subscriber to Xbox Live, then consider this an absolute must have because it is one of the most entertaining online games to be released in recent memory. However, those without Live should be wary, as a huge portion of the game’s appeal comes from its online gameplay options. If Ubi Soft would have managed to include some split screen multiplayer options and objective-based adversarial modes for online, I probably would have bumped the overall score up to a 10 – this game really is that good. So what are you waiting for? Go grab a copy of R63 and look for me on Xbox Live. Just pray I’m on your team.

So, when you get right down to the heart of the matter, this is a logical next step for fans of Rainbow Six. There's not much new here, just refinements of the old. If you liked either Rainbow Six or Rogue Spear, go for the third. It's earned your money.

R63 is a refreshing change from your standard FPS shoot 'em up. Missions are fast-moving, taut, exciting experiences that require extensive planning. Having a default plan included with the game for each level was appreciated. The emphasis is on realism so you won't experience the mayhem of Unreal Tournament 2003.

This game brings the joys that PC gamers have known for years to the Xbox. Although some aspects have been toned down or left out from the PC version, it's still one of the best shooters available on any console. Top-notch level design and great online play make this an excellent stocking stuffer for the gamer on your list.

Rainbow 6 almost single-handedly brought the realism shooter to realization. Dubbed by many as the “thinking man’s shooter”, people quickly learned that old school Doom and Quake strategies need not apply in the stress-inducing one shot – one kill type of gameplay presented by Red Storm Entertainment. For the first time after countless rehashes, the franchise is finally taking a major new direction in adopting Unreal technology to power the game. This affects both gameplay, and obviously the audio/visual experience. But the main question presented has to be: Is Rainbow 6’s unique gameplay still intact?

Rainbow Six 3 is a very good single-player game, and a brilliant online game; Ubisoft's streak of Xbox greatness continues. Any Xbox owner with a Live subscription needs to add this game to their library with the quickness.

Our biggest criticism with Raven Shield is that after so many years, and with so many other first-person games out there, we wanted to see more development on problems like creating AI that doesn't blow itself up. But those points are more than outweighed by outstanding multiplayer and the promise of continued community development. Tactical fans will find many hours -- and probably many months -- of great gaming here.

Since its debut in 1998, the Rainbow Six series has been an outstanding example of how exciting sophisticated tactical shooters can be, thanks to its challenging "one-shot kill" gameplay and complex mission planning. And even though the tactical shooter subgenre has become even better thanks to great games like SWAT 3 and Operation Flashpoint, fans still eagerly look to each new Rainbow Six installment to see what the series has in store next. While Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield does little to push the tactical shooter genre forward, it's still an exciting entry in the series.

Simply put, this a fine tactical shooter that belongs, not just on the shelf of fans of the genre, but actually on their hard drive. It's smart, unforgiving and genuinely exhilarating. My enjoyment of this series has always rested more on the concepts than the graphics. So it stands to reason that, now that the graphics are equivalent to most other titles in the action genre, I'd enjoy this one best of all. To some extent that's true. While I think the overall approach works here, I'm forced to admit that the changes made to the game are merely iterative rather than innovative. As such, and even with the welcome new features, this game didn't hold any surprises for me.

Red Storm has really created a hit series with their Rainbow Six franchise. Raven Shield is undoubtedly the most polished and fun of the bunch. However, the lack of new innovations is starting to show. For the next Rainbow Six game, hopefully Red Storm will include more variance in mission types along with the requisite graphical upgrade. As it is, Rainbow Six: Raven Shield is gorgeous, a blast to play, and well worth your gaming dollar.

Meilleur à mon sens que le SOCOM de Sony et surclassant les Ghost Recon, le titre devrait ravir tous les fans du genre. On ne lui reprochera que son aspect un brin linéaire en solo, l'usage un peu trop fréquent de scripts et l'impossibilité de faire les armes de nos équipiers. A part ça, c'est tout bon.

On ne fera toutefois pas l'impasse sur quelques petits défauts qui concernent l'IA essentiellement. En règle générale, elle est tout à fait correcte mais il arrivera que se produisent 2 ou 3 étrangetés, des ennemis qui se jettent sur vos balles, vos équipiers qui s'explosent la tronche à la grenade ou qui semblent avoir un peu de mal à retrouver leur chemin. Rien de catastrophique mais c'est toujours rageant. Autre détails perturbant,le recyclage de certaines cartes que l'on devra rejouer sous différentes conditions.

Raven Shield takes a step forward in some important areas, but elsewhere it also takes a step backward. The net result: This isn’t the Rainbow Six that made Rainbow Six a household name in 1998. But after such a long hiatus, any game with Ding Chavez and John Clark is a welcome relief for the genre.

The single-player and multiplayer portions of Rainbow Six 3 combine to make this a great game that's easily recommended to Xbox owners looking for a realistic shooter. The game's core action is executed very well, and the variety of realistic weapons and locations should keep tactical shooter fans busy for a long time. There's even some downloadable content already available for the game, and, like some other current Xbox Live-compatible titles, Rainbow Six 3 offers a free trial of Microsoft's online gaming service. So don't hesitate to give the game a shot.

Das Rainbow-Six-Team ist zurück, und zwar wie! Raven Shield ist größer und besser als die Vorgänger. Zig Komfortfunktionen machen mir das harte Einsatzleiter-Leben so einfach wie möglich. Wenn dann aber trotz bestandener Mission der wichtigste Scharfschützen-Kollege stirbt, wünsche ich mir zumindest einen freien Speicherslot pro Level. So schwer kann das Quicksave-Programmieren doch nicht sein! Grafisch ist Raven Shield weder Fisch noch Fleisch. Zwar sehen die Charaktermodelle dank neuer Unreal-Engine richtig toll aus. Aber der Rest wirkt wie eins zu eins aus dem tristen Rogue Spear übernommen. Die Fahrzeuge sind sogar ein Ausbund an Hässlichkeit! Trotzdem hält mich das nicht vom Spielen ab. Denn das Herz von Raven Shield ist die überaus anspruchsvolle Taktik und nicht die Grafik.

It is my belief that even as online gaming grows, single player must still be made a priority. In RS3, this is not the case, as the Live play outshadows the single player value. However, everything is done sufficiently well, and the single player is deep enough that the game is worth getting for those who will utilize the online play. The difficulty of the single player and generally the talent that will be found online makes RS3 a game more fit for those with experience in first person shooters, especially realistic ones.

Overall, Rainbow Six 3 manages to be that most rare thing; a PC-to-Console port that not only retains the quality of the original, but also tailors its gameplay perfectly to the console. This game is a hell of a lot of fun, particularly if you're Xbox Live enabled. Terrorists, beware.

In conclusion, if you are into these games, buy it, you won’t regret it. There is always the demo to check out first which I would recommend to players that never played this sort of game. I’m pretty sure everybody will love the single player, but the multi player is a bit too tactical for me to enjoy.

Raven Shield macht nach einer annehmbaren Eingewöhnungsphase auch Anfängern Spaß, obwohl diese viele Missionen natürlich öfters starten werden müssen. Wer ein wenig Geduld aufbringen kann und sich für Taktik-Shooter interessiert darf den Titel eigentlich nicht verpassen. Für Profis scheint es ohnehin keinen Weg an dem Spiel vorbei zu geben. Nirgendwo findet man eine dermaßen schlaue Gegner-KI vereint mit einer netten Kampagne und sehr gut designten Levels. Hinzu kommt außerdem ein sehr motivierender Mehrspielerpart der noch über viele Monate hinaus aktuell sein wird.

Given the brilliance of the previous games in this series, I'd be lying if I didn't say I was ultimately a little dissatisfied with Raven Shield. It's received some great tweaks and additions, but it definitely plays it safe in terms of gameplay and doesn't try to break new ground, which is disappointing. Still, for fans of the series, it'll provide a lot of entertainment, especially in multiplayer mode.

There are some oddities and disappointments in the game outside of the copy protection hassles. After three generations of Rainbow Six, players expecting new game modes will have to wait for the Athena Sword expansion pack. I also witnessed some 3D modeling sloppiness in a few places. I used to think the game modeled bullet penetration through doors and walls, but couldn't confirm that in playing. The only time I could shoot someone behind a door was if I could see his legs churning through it as if he was stuck trying to open it. I wasn't sure if this was because the bullets penetrated the door or because the collision detection failed and thought there wasn't a door there. But that's a pretty small nit to be harping on in an otherwise fine action game.

Avec un Gameplay réaliste, des graphismes sublimes, et de nombreux autres atouts, Raven Shield est un excellent jeu qui ne devrait pas s'effacer des mémoires de joueurs avant un long moment. Marquant ainsi l'univers de la série des Rainbow 6 sur Mac, cet opus ravira les amateurs du genre qui, une fois de plus, devraient être aux anges...

Es ist ja schön und gut, dass Ubisoft endlich einen Rainbow Six-Titel für den GameCube umsetzt, aber warum bekommen wir GameCube-Zocker mal wieder nur eine abgespeckte Version? Die Levels sind kleiner als auf der Xbox, die Grafik ist auf PlayStation-2-Niveau und der Mehrspieler-Modus ruckelt wie die Hölle! Außerdem sind die Schleichmissionen voll in die Hose gegangen und frustrieren nach kurzer Zeit. Bei solchen Umsetzungen braucht sich kein Dritthersteller wundern, wenn die Verkaufszahlen nicht stimmen! Aber kommen wir zum Positiven: Das Gameplay ist gelungen und der Titel macht jede Menge Spaß. Schade, hier wäre ohne weiteres ein Hitstempel möglich gewesen.

Raven Shield hat meine Hoffnungen fast ganz erfüllt. Es macht einfach Spaß, an einem Einsatzplan zu arbeiten, bis dieser auch so klappt, wie man es sich vorstellt. Mich persönlich stört es nicht, dass es keine Speicherfunktion gibt. Trotzdem hätten die Entwickler zumindest im einfachsten Schwierigkeitsgrad ein paar Speicherpunkte einbauen sollen, um Anfängern das Leben ein wenig zu erleichtern. Letztendlich lebt Raven Shield aber vom Multiplayer und der großen Community. Rainbow Six 3 ist für mich mit Abstand das beste Online-Game. In Sachen Story-Präsentation sollten die Entwickler sich aber mal etwas von Operation Flashpoint oder Splinter Cell abschauen, denn dass ich eine Story ständig nur durch Texte vorgetragen bekomme, geht mir allmählich auf die Nerven. Ansonsten hat sich Raven Shield im Vergleich zu Rogue Spear in allen Punkten weiter entwickelt und Somit Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six wieder zum Referenztitel des Taktik-Shooter Genres gemacht.

This game is a logical evolution from previous Rainbow Six releases and that disappoints me slightly. While this is an outstanding release, there is no real innovation to it. Additionally, I am forced to wonder why some of the innovations that were developed for Ghost Recon weren’t incorporated; specifically the RPG elements of character development. However that isn’t much more than food for thought. The good news is that while this is a title not to be missed, there is a lot of room for future sequels to grow and become distinctive games in their own right.

I only wish the game had been a bit more innovative in terms of its story arc. Hey, I hate Nazis. But every time we need a "safe" villain, one we can hate in a game without worrying about offending anyone, it's time to unfreeze Hitler's brain. Red Storm: pick up a freakin' newspaper. There are actual terrorists out there. Our forces are fighting them right now. Take your head out of Sgt. Rock for five seconds and turn on CNN.

RS3 offers just about enough to warrant its price tag. The single-player is compelling and disappointing in equal measures in a seen-it-all-before-but-I'm-enjoying-it-anyway kind of fashion, but it's the multiplayer action that saves the day, offering as good a reason for signing up to Xbox Live as we've seen (especially with its two month trial voucher inside).

Raven Shield multiplayer will most certainly appeal to the fans of the genre, and it might further increase the game's replay value, but I just get the feeling that Raven Shield isn't nearly as good as it could've been. Technically, and in terms of accurately capturing the feeling of anti-terrorist combat, Raven Shield comes second to none. It is a fact, however, that looking at it as a complete project Raven Shield has a number of inconsistencies and downsides that might lessen the otherwise fun and engaging gameplay experience.

Hearing good things about the Rainbow Six series, I thought, "What the hell" and decided to pick it up. Of course that was after they were sold out of Ghost Recon: Jungle Storm and I was desparate for a new game.

Many books have become movies, and a selected few have even become games. One of the more revered book-to-game translations would probably be the line of books which Ubi Soft is renowned for: their interpretation of Tom Clancy’s line of books, such as Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon. These games have all hit several different systems, but the PS2 was left out of the Rainbow Six 3 release, a popular anti-terrorist game which was a smash hit on the Xbox. Ubi finally decided to release the game for us PS2 gamers, but how does it fare?

This game requires some tough loving. Raven Shield's frontend creates a deep sense of realism, and the gameplay attempts to follow through on this promise - which any hardcore fan will certainly appreciate. However, the game's flaws turn this attempt at immersion into a tedious experience.

This game makes me yearn for Ghost Recon, with its on-the-fly command structure and passable NPC intelligence. Rainbow Six 3 not only lacks these two very important features, but it also penalizes gamers who play by its own rules. Let me explain. This is a close-quarters assault simulator with multiple teams. More often that not, your main objectives involve rescuing hostages, and if any of them die, your mission is over.

Raven Shield est sans nul doute une amélioration technique de la série tout à fait conséquente et, à ce titre, le fan hardcore ne sera pas déçu. quel dommage cependant que le nouveau gameplay qui a bien évolué ne soit pas enrobé par une campagne plus surprenante et que les niveaux ne bénéficient pas d'ombrages et de textures à la hauteur du moteur d'Unreal, à l'image de Splinter Cell par exemple.

If you already have one of the previous versions of this game, you have no need of getting this version. Only if you have only a GCN and/or you don't care about online should you seriously consider getting this version of the game, but that is not to say that this version is bad.

Military operations rely on plenty of teamwork and precision execution. Rainbow Six 3 certainly bases itself on this fact, but what it tries to do and what it achieves can be two different things. Sneaking around with your crew, your fates are always intertwined. The game lets you give some great orders to your soldiers, such as having them wait to act on your signal (called a Zulu go code). Unfortunately, your teammates’ execution of these commands is uneven. Since you can only take a few bullets, and precision is often needed to survive, the experience can be a bit frustrating and repetitive.

The game may carry the legendary name of Rainbow Six, but the gameplay has been reduced to a close-quarter combat shooter with training wheels.

While the PlayStation 2 is complicated, perhaps even aggravating, to develop for, especially for developers from the PC side of things, Ubisoft has been one of the standout companies who, on the whole, has been able to take its PC and Xbox code and convert it to PS2 well. The PS2 version of Splinter Cell is the biggest and best example of this process. It appeared early on that the Ubisoft Shangai team, the same guys who handled Sam Fisher's adventure conversion, would be able to perform the same magic with Rainbow Six 3. But that's not really the case.

Partly due to its lack of online play features and partly because it was released so much later than its counterparts, this particular version of Rainbow Six 3 is really only suitable for those who only have access to a GameCube and want a military-themed shooter. On its own merits, though, the GameCube version of Rainbow Six 3 certainly isn't bad, and it occasionally delivers some exciting and visceral shooting action.

After a successful campaign on the PC and most recently on the Xbox, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six 3 is hitting the PS2. The game does a fine job of offering up the same kind of team-based tactical shooting as its other incarnations, but unfortunately succumbs to a myriad of technical inadequacies, like muddy graphics, boggy framerates and long loading times. Also, the levels have been substantially watered-down and stripped bare from the Xbox version. While not a bad game, the PS2 version of Rainbow Six 3 is certainly the weakest of the bunch.

The PS2 version of Rainbow Six 3 can still be a tense and exciting first-person shooting experience both online and off, but it loses a lot in translation from other platforms. There's no negotiating with terrorists in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3. As an elite counterterrorist operative, you and your team will be called upon to settle highly sensitive situations with decisive force.

Rainbow Six 3 arrives as a competent tactical first-person shooter for Nintendo's console. It controls well, looks pretty good and as a result the processes of hunting down terrorists and rescuing hostages are for the most part fun. Which is why this game might appeal to some shooter fans, especially those tired by the avalanche of twitch FPSs void of any real strategy or challenge.

Dass man außerdem immer aus der Sicht aus ein und derselben Person spielt, hat auch seine Vorteile. Man kann sich mit einem Charakter identifizieren und glaubt, noch mehr direkt im Geschehen zu sein. Ich stehe Taktik-Shootern auf der Konsole nach wie vor etwas skeptisch gegenüber, aber Rainbow Six 3 hat auch auf der PS2 seine Reize. Dass auf einer Konsole die Steuerung mehrerer Teams und auch die Missionsplanung wohl zu kompliziert gewesen wären, ist verständlich. Dass man die Karten aber derart linear gestaltet hat, ist nicht ganz nachzuvollziehen. Hier hätte man sie ruhig so lassen können wie bei der PC Version. Wer sich zwischen SOCOM 2 und Rainbow Six 3 nicht entscheiden kann, dem rate ich doch zu erst genanntem, da die Missionen dort etwas abwechslungsreicher sind und der Spieler etwas mehr Freiheiten hat. Wer sich aber einen echten Taktik-Shooter-Fan nennt, der sollte sich sowieso beide Games zulegen.

Tom Clancy is making bank on all these tactical warfare titles bearing his name. However, there is a reason these games are so popular. For the most part, every one of them has been darn good. Surprisingly, Rainbow Six 3 marks the first time the Rainbow Six arm of the Tom Clancy octopus has shown up on PlayStation 2. It's a long time coming.

Rainbow Six 3 är på det tekniska planet klart över medel, men när bandesignen är så oentusiastisk och ointelligent kan man inte annat än sluta sig till att spelet släpps enbart som ett säljargument för Xbox Live.
