Despite a few minor flaws, Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 stands as a considerable improvement over its already fantastic predecessor. The addition of customization options to the single player game - and allowing that progress to transfer over to all of the other gameplay modes - is by far the best enhancement, while the beefed up AI is as impressive as we'd hoped and the refined co-op play offers a great range of options. At base, both Vegas games are first-rate efforts, so this sequel does exactly what it's supposed to do; it delivers the same entertaining and addictive gameplay while correcting the majority of the flaws in the original.

If it weren’t for the one or two disappointments, Rainbow Six Vegas 2 would have achieved a perfect score. Even considering, Vegas 2 is still is one hell of a game. It is definitely the best shooter on the PS3 this year, if not the best shooter on the console overall.

This sequel may not offer a wealth of new gameplay features (a sprint maneuver and a dozen new weapons), but its campaign is now just as praiseworthy as its multiplayer, which with awesome new maps and modes, is worth investing another year or two of your life into.

When you add it all up what you get with this sequel is a solid new game wrapped in a slightly used box. This game looks and sounds better than the original with nothing even remotely comparable to it at this point. It’s clear that Ubisoft went back to the playbook and came up with some great new additions and worthy tweaks. Sure these were safe plays but when you have a game of this caliber, why mess with what works. More than just run and gun plus rehash, you’ll have on hell of a time with Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas 2.

Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is a hell of a package. It's sort of a shame that so much of it is recycled from the last game, but nobody stops eating their favorite food because it's similar every time - and this is the Kobe beef of tactical FPS.

Though a great overall package that packs a lot value, Vegas 2 is probably best characterized as a glorious example of fan service. Though not necessary, familiarity with the previous game adds tremendously to the overall experience, and many of the enhancements are direct responses to the very vocal and passionate community that plays online regularly. Though there are a few funky issues with the single-player campaign, they by no means outweigh the good stuff that the game has to offer overall.

Xbox 360games xtreme
A solid game with a few issues that can detract from the overall experience. The new XP rewards and ACES are the meat and potatoes of the game and the core story is short but sweet. Online play is definitely where it's at, also, play on Realistic.

Overall, if you were a fan of the first Rainbow Six Vegas, then you should enjoy Rainbow Six Vegas 2. There is nothing groundbreaking here however Ubisoft did improve on what was already there. The storyline follows the first game pretty well and closes everything off neatly as you finish the campaign. If you weren’t a fan of the original Rainbow Six Vegas then you probably won’t like this title either as it is more of the same. However for gamers who are fans of this series you should have a lot of fun going through the game’s various modes and trying to unlock everything in the game.

With so many average shooters on Xbox 360, it's nice to still be entertained in the best way possible, and Rainbow Six Vegas 2 does provide the thrills and spills that gamers are looking for. If you like tactical shooters then this game is most certainly a must buy. If you are new to Rainbow games, then this is as good place to start as any as knowledge of the first game isn't essential for the experience.

Suffice it to say that if you enjoyed the first Rainbow Six: Vegas, then you will undoubtedly find considerable value in Vegas 2. Although it may seem like more of the same, we were pretty entranced with Vegas and so highly recommend Vegas 2 as well. Sometimes, it pays to stick with what works.

No matter which version you choose, you can be assured of a fantastic tour of the violent side of Las Vegas that only Team Rainbow could guide you through. Vegas 2 is easily the best in the long line of Rainbow Six games, and comes very highly recommended for any first person shooter fan looking for a challenge.

Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 doesn’t strive to reinvent the franchise, and works mostly as a means of finishing off the story that began in the first game. However, there are plenty of new features and game modes to keep series fans interested.

WindowsGameSpy
Sporting slightly more impressive graphics than either the 360 or PS3 versions (mostly due to the superior definition of higher-end LCD displays combined with flashy video cards), the PC version of Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 could be the best version of the game. While detractors may bemoan the series' divergence from its hardcore roots, the focus on action doesn't damage what is essentially a tense and atmospheric tactical shooter.

PlayStation 3GameZone
A worthy addition to the Rainbow Six franchise, Rainbow Six Vegas 2 doesn’t change very much from the first game in the Vegas series but it is still an amazing first-person shooter. On the PS3 the graphics might not be as sharp as the Xbox 360 and there are a few stutters here and there but it does not eclipse what is otherwise a stellar tactical shooter.

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 is a great game. It captures the Rainbow Six ‘feel' and delivers high intensity gameplay both on and offline. Fans of the series will not be disappointed and anyone searching for an alternative to the run-and-gun gameplay of standard first person shooters should look no further than Vegas 2. The new additions of greater customisation and the A.C.E.S system are implemented well and add depth to the game experience. Vegas 2 is marred only by the occasional minor bug and the annoying feeling that the graphics are missing that extra ‘something'. Other than that, Vegas 2 belongs in the collection of any fan of the tactical first person shooter genre.

Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is a game which doesn't bring a lot of new ideas to the table when compared to the first one. It is still however a fantastic single player and multiplayer game which looks great and immerses you into a SWAT team style unit. The graphics are generally very impressive and it is sure to appeal to fans of the series as well as people who have never played one of these games before. I found it more enjoyable than the first and the minor tweaks and enhancements have made it a better game, even if it isn't original.

Xbox 360Game Over Online
Rainbow Six Vegas 2 doesn’t quite have as big an impact as Rainbow Six Vegas. For one, it doesn’t have the wow factor the original game had. Two-player co-op is a disappointing step backwards for the franchise and the fact the sequel performs worse than the original is odd to say the least. That being said, the story mode is just as long as the original and brings a satisfying conclusion to the plot, some of the new features like the sprint button and bullet penetration add a new dimension to gameplay, and the multiplayer suite is as robust as ever. Ultimately, I have little doubt Rainbow Six Vegas 2 will satisfy its fan base for as long as it takes for the next Rainbow Six title to come along.

In diesem Sinne: ....Viva las Vegas!

Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is by no means the next evolutionary step in first person shooting, but it does wrap up the Vegas storyline quite nicely and the gameplay has seen some genuine, however incremental, improvement. Fans of the original should ante up and slide some moolah towards it, gamers who couldn't abide the previous game should cash in their chips and walk away, and newcomers to the series should have a flutter and get pleasantly surprised by a top-notch military shooter with killer multiplayer to boot.

PlayStation 3GameSpot
And that makes it better than most games because Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is the best tactical shooter on the market. It doesn't gamble as much as it should and, instead, seems to take cover behind the formidable foundation established in the first game. But to its credit, Rainbow Six Vegas 2 does make one big gameplay tweak and provides another highly playable single-player campaign. It also provides a decent suite of cooperative options and more excellent online multiplayer. Though its experience system is now clearly behind the one found in Call of Duty 4, no game has a better control scheme or more satisfying tactical play. This ace belongs in every shooter's hand.

Ubisoft's gamble pays off with its return trip to Las Vegas. Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas 2 implemented ACES experience system, upgraded A.I., ready to go co-op and customizable lead character makes Vegas 2 more than a mild upgrade from the first. In basics, Rainbow Six Vegas 2 remains a close experience to the first vacation in sin city, but it's a lot more flushed out and refined. If you’re looking for a decent first person shooter with a focus on realism, online gaming, and co-op online and offline modes, Vegas 2 leads the pack offering more than enough game to satisfy the shooting fanatic.

Ubisoft swears that the Rainbow Six 3 franchise will not return to Vegas, despite the clever ways in which the story could be brought back there with what we’ve been left with. If this is in fact true, we’ve enjoyed our time there, especially during our first visit in 2006. Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is a competent shooter as well—just like its high-stakes predecessor—but we have a sneaking suspicion that Ubi sunk more development dollars into the next next installment of Rainbow Six than it did into this title. Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is definitely worth a look-see, but don’t expect much more excitement than the first time you plopped Lockdown into that fat, black console.

It’s a girly grumble, but a proper one: if a publisher insists on giving different games to different teams, plan the narrative across both first. If you’re going to end a game on a cliffhanger, make its sequel address this! Sheesh! That aside, if you liked Rainbow Six Vegas, we can give a cast iron IGN-stamped guarantee that you’ll like this. It’s essentially more of the same game. Should this sequel have innovated and added new stuff? Taken a few risks? Honestly, we don’t know. What we do know is that we we don’t feel short changed, just stinking slightly of déjà vu.

As I said previously, the biggest problem that most will have with Vegas 2 is that it doesn’t differentiate itself enough from the first. It doesn’t feel like an expansion pack exactly–-it’s more than that--but it doesn’t feel like a full-fledged sequel either. For those who haven’t taken a stroll down the streets of Sin City than you needn’t look any further than Rainbow Six Vegas 2, but those looking for a sequel that surpasses the original in everyway imaginable will be disappointed.

Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is allesbehalve vernieuwend.

Throughout the review, you may have noticed the many allusions made to the first Rainbow Six Vegas. This was done intentionally, as, during my time playing Rainbow Six Vegas 2, a feeling of déjà vu kept nagging me. Vegas 2 is very similar to its predecessor and these similarities almost made it feel like it was an expansion pack, even though it’s clearly more than that. Granted, Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is as fun as its predecessor ever was and, in many ways, even better. The story mode abounds with fun and excitement, and the multiplayer will keep you entertained for a long time to come. Despite the great upgrades in the form of the sprint button, a revamped experience system, the aforementioned great gameplay and new modes, this title doesn’t feel enough like a true sequel. In short, if you’re a fan of the original Vegas or have more than just a passing interest, then by all means, check this one out; just don’t expect profound amounts of innovation.

The overall status of Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is one of satisfaction, but also disparity. The game relies too heavily on the events and effects of the previous title, and although there are plenty of neat new features to whet your appetite, the game hardly feels like a sequel and more of a downloadable add-on. Fans of the series will no doubt be intrigued by the substantial differences, but casual shooter fans will see the changes as minor and only be impressed by the subtleties. Vegas 2 is still one of the best and most dynamic multiplayer experiences out there; just a little more change would have been welcome.

While Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 has departed from its hardcore roots and offers little beyond a second helping of the previous title, it is nevertheless a worthwhile, entertaining venture with just enough squad-based tactics to keep things interesting. The multiplayer segment alone makes the title worth its price tag, but be prepared for a single-player experience that feel more like an expansion pack than a full game.

Overall, I think Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is an excellent single player game that does an admirable job of including a co-op mode. Drop-in/drop-out co-op makes it easy for anyone to try out playing through with a partner. It would have been nice if the co-op experience added something new to the single player story, or if a bit more attention was focused on the co-op mode (for xbox 360, there are a total of 3 achievements that net you 35 points for co-op, while the majority of the game's 47 achievements are awarded for getting kills in deathmatch games). Still, the included co-op is executed well, and got me into a game which otherwise wouldn't have been as interesting to me.

Vegas 2 is a great game, and it’s difficult to deny that. It’s a good shooter which has a plentiful amount of gaming on offer, but the Rainbow Six lads need to be deployed elsewhere and end the Vegas setting with two games. This game doesn’t change the genre, and this is its only real negative. The phrase “if it ‘aint broke, don’t fix it,” springs to mind. Everything is polished to a clear shine, but this is same ground we’ve trodden before.

Xbox 360Netjak
All in all, Rainbow Six Vegas 2 does absolutely nothing to move itself forward, and I guess to me, that was both a blessing and a curse. They didn’t need to tinker with anything to begin with: they had a great setting, they had the perfect control scheme, and they had the perfect multiplayer game for those of us that like a little less A.D.D. in our FPS’s (one-shot kills FTW), but a little bit more variety in enemies, or some new dialogue would have been nice. The bottom line though is that this is a fantastic game both online, and off, and it boggles my mind that this game isn’t played by more people in Xbox Live when it is clearly a better game than any other online FPS available on the Xbox 360.

With 12 maps and five different play modes, we expect to be playing Vegas 2 for the long run, just as we did Vegas and Rainbow Six 3 before it. However, it's single player mode makes us think that Ubisoft would have done a better job had Vegas 2 been a purely multiplayer game, with lots more maps. The minor upgrades like a simpler menu system and the addition of running aren't enough to make us leap out for joy though, because it's almost identical to the last one. Next time the Rainbow team goes out, we demand something new and exciting, or at least making it completely multiplayer.

There's something very satisfying about executing a precise breach-and-clear move on a room full of terrorists. it provides a thrill that not many shooters out there today can match. And while there's an argument to be made for the premise starting to wear thin, as long as Ubisoft keeps developing games that play as well as this, people will keep buying them. The real question after this oh-so-similar sequel is, what is the team going to do to really take this experience to the next level?

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 feels more like an expansion pack than a true sequel, thanks primarily to its lackluster single-player mode and incremental improvements in Persistent Elite Creation and online play. However, those improvements are smart ones, with the new experience system in particular adding quite a bit to the overall experience. It’s time for the Rainbow Six franchise to explore new territory, but you’ll enjoy this final trip to Sin City.

If you thought you played this one about a year-and-a-half ago, well, you’re right. Vegas and Vegas 2 fit so well together that you’d barely notice going from one to the other if you didn’t have to swap the discs out of your console. This doesn’t bode well for the inevitable third release in the franchise, as by then the whole Sin City Terror storyline will likely feel very, very tired. But right now, I’ve got no complaints about a second go-round with one of 2006’s finest. Hopefully Ubi shakes things up for a third instalment however, because the current trend is going to result in something downright style and mediocre for Vegas 3.

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 is somewhere between an expansion pack and a full-blown sequel. There is not enough here to make it a true sequel, but there is slightly more than what you would find in a typical add-on. The game still plays superbly, though arguably not up to the standards of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, and fans of the original, or those who have yet to experience it, will find this a real thrill. But hardcore players hoping for a fully-fledged sequel are going to be left feeling a little disappointed.

Rainbow Six: Vegas was a good game, and Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 is more of the same. The only problem here is that "more of the same" includes glitches, but not very much original or innovative gameplay. Ubisoft chose to play it safe, with the only major addition being a Call of Duty 4-style leveling system, which in and of itself isn't particularly great. Rainbow Six: Vegas was a good game, but we played it a year and a half ago, and Vegas 2 doesn't really bring anything to the table to justify moving away from more customizable or larger games like Call of Duty 4 or Halo 3. Vegas 2 is a title for die-hard Rainbow Six fans or those who are absolutely desperate for a new shooter. Everyone else will want to wait for a price drop or the inevitable next Rainbow Six title.

The original Rainbow Six Vegas received a high score because it felt like an exciting step forward for the tactical shooter at the time it was released. The sequel doesn't bring the same sense of excitement, but that doesn't make it a bad game. More of the same is never a bad thing, but it's not always worth $60 either. Anyone that absolutely adored the first Vegas should definitely pick up Rainbow Six Vegas 2, but those who felt the original was merely great and have since lost interest are probably better off waiting until the price drops to the $30-$40 price-range that expansion packs are suited to.

Vegas 2 may cover a lot of old ground, but like the city itself, it's something that you just can't stop paying a visit to every now and then.

When you come right down to it, though, Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 succeeds thanks to its amazing co-op, carefully balanced gameplay and memorable setting. Sure, there are some aggravating scripting and design issues present but much like the city it's set in, Vegas 2's pleasure outweighs the pain.

Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 is definitely a suggestion for everyone who loves a good tactical shooter. The new "Cover and shoot" system brings even more fun gameplay than its predecessor, Vegas, had.

As a more recent Rainbow Six fan I was initially disappointed with Vegas 2 in what seemed nothing more than a rehash of the previous game with some tidier graphics and a few more guns. But it's after an hour or so of room storming that the new effects and refinements begin to show themselves, and soon all that bitterness will wash away with every bullet you fire. The online mode is similarly straight forward as before and yet feels more streamlined and ready for the onslaught, with better connections times and, from my experience, easier to get into games. The single player co-op is welcomed, even if the split screen is horrendously executed and only one player has control of the AI team-mates. But at the end of the day, taking down a handful of terrorists through meticulous planning with the snake cam and order issuing is as rewarding as ever.

Five years ago I could have told you what differentiated Rainbow Six from other first-person shooters. Today I’m not sure I could. Strategic planning has been replaced by tactical combat. On-the-fly squad controls, realistic armor and weaponry, and use of cover are now commonplace. Core Rainbow Six objectives like hostage-rescue and bomb-disarming are no longer the main focus. Ubisoft Montreal continues to do a great job, but Team Rainbow needs to deal with their mission drift.

Xbox 360GameDaily
Even though there's very little change, Rainbow Six Vegas 2 maintains a steady balance of tactical command and shooting; the presentation lives up to Ubisoft Montreal's standard; and the single and multiplayer options will keep you busy. Odds are that you'll find this game a surefire winner, just like the original.

I originally wanted to give this a 7, but after playing some more of the multiplayer and taking into consideration that many people will play this game without having played the original, I decided to bump it to an 8.

"Rainbow Six Vegas 2" is a more accomplished game than the first game. It feels less ridiculous, and the new sprint and XP systems are worthwhile, as with the new multiplayer modes. However, the fact that there are no graphical updates, many of the maps, graphics and sounds are re-used and recycled, and the whole sense of being in Vegas is pretty much gone, means that some new flaws creep into the game. It's a huge amount of fun, and provides great multiplayer as ever, but this is a fairly by-the numbers sequel, even if I did enjoy it far more than the first game.

Despite these downsides, however, Vegas 2 is a challenge in single-player and offers a fair choice of maps. New additions are a welcomed sight indeed, providing new weapons, exp. points, ranks and so on. Multiplayer is bound to keep you occupied and the fact that you can overcome battle situations in a unique way each time, offers a solid amount of replayability.

It’s easy from the first impressions to think that this is just a quick and cheap cop out expansion pack disguised as a full game. If it wasn’t for the fact that this is still so much damn fun to play it would probably take a bullet to the head and be left to rot. But we just can’t do that. The great multiplayer and co-op are worthy of the price alone, and as familiar as it feels, the single player game is still a tremendous experience, albeit a little short. It’s not a generation jump from the original, but then again it didn’t have to be. Some people may complain that graphically it offers little new, but it still plays like a gem and offers a lot of entertainment for the price – and for us that’s enough to justify a full price release.

Xbox 360Play.tm
Given the useful implementation of the XP system, we're inclined to be rather impressed with the multiplayer side of Vegas 2, specifically the manner in which it makes the singleplayer action more compelling. What we have here is a very solid FPS entry, then, albeit one that hasn't moved on much in the last year or so. This is the benchmark by which Vegas 2 should perhaps ultimately be judged, because while our stay in the city of sin has been an enjoyable and occasionally engrossing one, we won't be needing to revisit anytime soon.

I have to say, this has been a fairly hard game to review for me. The game itself is quite good. Graphically it does look good, it sounds good, has a very good story line and the choice of weapons, the ACES system and online play are all top notch work from Ubisoft. But the game still feels unfinished and rushed out. Somehow, they have made it feel like the game is no more than an expansion pack and that £40 or £50 is day light robbery. But, even with all the glitches and imperfections, this is still a top class game. Hopefully Ubisoft will release a patch which will cure all of the problems the game has. It’s sad that the game does require a patch, it should have been released fully working and complete. However it does have problems, and this does bring its score down. If Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 didn’t have all of its problems, this would be a 90% game. No doubt!

Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 offers much of what the first did on PC, though this time it's wrapped up in a much more stable package, features a better unlock system, and has an expanded set of multiplayer modes. While the single-player feels tired and rehashed, the multiplayer versus modes and options for cooperative play should keep you entertained. Vegas 2 is a far cry from something anyone would label as original, but it's well built, features a selection of weaponry that should more than please any shooter fan, and offers quite a few entertaining options for online play. It's nothing that should stop you from playing Call of Duty 4, Team Fortress 2, Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, or Unreal Tournament III, but it's not a bad fallback assuming you stick to the online and co-operative modes.

Halfway through the second level I realized I was doing the exact same thing over and over. Halfway through the third I realized, I didn’t care! I don’t even wanna USE the word repetitive, because, I had fun right up until the end. 7.5/10 from me as well

Xbox 360Good Game
It may feel like an expansion to some, and probably rightfully so. Explosions still look pretty cheap, the framerate slowed down heavily in non-HD, and what they’re doing to their multiplayer is semi-suicidal. It adds very little, but a good game is still a good game, 7.5/10.

Xbox 360Computer Bild Spiele
Die Vegas-Fortsetzung hinkt hinter ihrem genialen Vorgänger her.

PlayStation 3Game Shark
In the end, Rainbow Six Vegas 2 gets a mild recommendation. Team intelligence quirks, server issues in multiplayer, and a general sense that the game does little to improve upon the original leave it as a scant improvement. Of course, it doubles up on the length of the single player campaign, boasts better level design, and improves the balance of its competitive multiplayer modes. So consider it a fine sequel; just don’t expect it to rewrite the formula.

Unfortunately though, the overall feeling you're left with after putting the controller down is that you've played a slightly beefed up version of the first game. Outside of the addition of a sprint button and the offline experience gains, not much has changed in the single player modes. As far as multiplayer goes, everything feels completely polished, but the cutback on co-op from 4 players to 2 definitely hurts, and doesn't make a lot of sense considering you can still 4-man Terrorist Hunt. The whole package feels like it should have contained a bit more, but since the foundation it's based off of is so solid, you can't really complain about the core gameplay. I'd only suggest picking it up for the multiplayer aspect, and if you don't have any interest beyond the single player campaign then it marks itself as a rental at best.

Releasing Rainbow Six Vegas 2 as a full priced game is a swift kick in the nuts to all fans of the tactical shooter. On the PC this would be nothing more than a half priced expansion pack, so why are we being forced to pay full price? The gameplay may have been fine with the original (and it still is here), but a year later it‘s amazing that it‘s escaped through testing with the exact same bugs. Vegas 2 could’ve done with a few months more development time, at least, maybe then would we have got the Rainbow Six game we all wanted.

Fortunately, multiplayer co-op and deathmatch games are genuinely intense and actually require skill and tactical planning. We felt tremendously satisfied and rewarded after perfectly executing a nail-biting online operation—it’s too bad this feeling never arises in the solo campaign

This is definitely the weakest iteration of Vegas 2; if you have a PS3 or 360, it’s easy to recommend those versions over this one, even if the controls aren’t quite as tight. Poor optimization and other PC-specific bugs really drag this one down – which is a shame, because Rainbow Six used to be quite at home on PCs.

There's no doubt the game has the capacity, on occasion, to hold its own against the best Unreal Engine 3-powered shooters, but that's all it does. Worse, screen-tearing issues are still rampant, and texturing is often alarmingly bland. For a full-priced product pitched as a full sequel, you'd expect a bit more - especially when you consider you can pick up the original for probably less than half the price if you shop around. Overall, Vegas 2 feels like an incremental expansion, despite the success of the character-creation feature. The annoying thing is that with a bit more investment these quickfire sequels would feel like true follow-ups, which would go a long way with those of us who've been following the series for the past ten years. As it is, we'll still go to Vegas, but we'll be grumpy on the way home.

What’s worst about Vegas 2 is that it refuses to take any meaningful gambles. Fans may enjoy having more of their favorite game, but they might also find it drab and boring after so much of the same. For someone that played the hell out the first Vegas, this second Vegas makes the prospect of having to review a Rainbow Six Vegas 3: Revenge of the Broken Slot Machine a powerful argument for getting off this FPS-reviewing gig.

Rainbow Six Vegas 2 delivers intense action, heavy customization and a great online component. Though this isn’t the winning hand Ubisoft (and players) have been waiting for, due to a tired story, inconsistent graphics and funky A.I.
