If you purposely waited those extra months in hope that Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 for the Xbox would be the definitive version, you made the right choice. While the differences were not worth the extra time it took Activision to bring this version out, the game and series still has no problem withstanding the test of time. Gamers who have already put many hours into the PlayStation 2 or GameCube version will not find anything else of interest. New Xbox owners, however, who have yet to skate with the birdman for the third time, are in for a treat.

In every other way, THPS3 is consistent across all of the platforms it inhabits. It is a brilliant game that exhibits the highest quality of design, control, interface, and gameplay. This is undoubtedly one of the best game series of all time, and is the only game that will always suck me into a session longer than I planned. I have no idea how some people can look at THPS3 and not feel the need to pick it up. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 is another title that should be in every videogame collection.

When it's all said and done, when your eyes have completely dried up after spending 7 straight hours obsessing over massive rail grinds, THPS 3 comes through on its promise to do next-gen justice to the series. There simply is no better skating game available, and for that matter, very few other games that compete, period. Looks like Tony one-upped the 900.

So how could this game get any better? Tack on a skate park editor with more features, tons of mini-missions and level objectives combined with a deep create-a-skater mode and more outfits that you can shake a stick at. And with a large stable of skaters to choose from to begin with, I'd say you won't getting bored of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 for a long time.

After two sequels, Neversoft still never ceases to amaze me in what they can truly do with this skating franchise. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3, honestly, is the best in the series. The controls are tweaked to perfection, the graphics are believably astounding, and there are more bands to listen to than ever...albeit, the songs played aren't too new. You get huger levels than ever before, and more interactivity in them. The bulkier and much better Create-A-Something’s (both player and park) expand the options. And, above all, this is the first PlayStation 2 game EVER with online capabilities! With those last few sentences said, I have no doubts that anyone who was a fan of the first two games in the series will find a new love on their PlayStation 2 with the sequel of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3!

No matter your mental capacity, if you play games and own a Playstation 2 it is your obligation to purchase Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3. Software this magnificent doesn't come around every day, although during the past three months it sure felt like it. Nevertheless, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 is quite possibly the finest and most addictive videogame ever! The drop dead gorgeous visuals add a lot more realism to the game's atmosphere; in addition the gameplay is hands-down like no other. Tony Hawk 3's replay value is practically infinite, no wait...it is! I'd score the replay value an 11, but our database just doesn't have the coding to process that. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3's online mode, park editor, and all new bevy of secrets (such as skaters and THPS1 stages) heavily justify a perfect score.

Gamers can play as one of 13 professional boarders or create their own male (or female!) skater to tackle the eight levels, from Tokyo to a suburban microcosm. Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 is one of those games that made me realize I have been missing out on a major franchise for a long time. If I wasn’t confident that this game encompassed everything that Tony Hawk 2X offered and more I would be adding that game to my library.

How many times can you publish the same game and still have it be fun Well, at least three because this third version of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 is just as fun on the Xbox as it was on the PS2 and GameCube. The Xbox version includes a new level, a new secret character, and a four-player linked-console mode (but alas, no online play like its PS2 cousin).

THPS 3 keeps the basics from the series intact. You pick a skater and take to 8 massive levels (with several more to unlock) in an effort to accomplish a number of goals and nabbing extra stat points. More goals lead to more levels and the stat points can be divvied out in nine statistical categories.

If you've seen the PS2 version, you can easily imagine the GameCube port. Everything is just as gorgeous, with detailed levels and 14 realistically animated skaters, all of whom can be customized and dressed as you see fit. However, there's a price to pay for the high-resolution textures---you'll spot some dropped frames in places. It's not enough to ruin the fun, but it does distract from time to time. The controls are responsive, but the controller's a tad tricky at times. Let the Ramones and Xzibit soothe your ragged nerves. Even without the PS2's online play, GameCube owners won't be disappointed with Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 by any means. It delivers all the clever, addictive gameplay that a THPS game should, and in higher resolution than ever before.

With its huge and creative levels, stellar graphics, and improved tighter control, THPS3 has more depth and re-playability than ever before. THPS has not only become the definitive skateboarding game, but after its third consecutive amazingly solid-in-all-facets installment, has quickly not only established itself as one of the best sports titles, but one of the best games of any video game genre out there today. A gotta-have title regardless of what next-generation system you own, particularly the Xbox. With the announcement of THPS4 as already under development, one can only salivate in mouth-watering anticipation while playing this already-classic rendition.

So what’s the best thing about THPS3? Well since I don’t have a home phone I can’t comment on the Internet option, nor can I comment on all the unlockable features, for I am no where near unlocking them all. At this point I simply know that as a total package there is no game on the planet that can captivate me more than THPS3 and for many hours on end no less. Rodney Mullen and I have become great friends from the time we’ve shared together, and I’m about to get fully acquainted with Kareem Campbell. O Joy another week to cast aside all responsibilities!

The gameplay is as silky smooth as ever before - which is a feat in itself, considering how clunky the Xbox controller can be, and how obscure the physics were in Tony 2x. If you haven't had the privilege of putting this game through its paces yet, run out and buy it today!

For three years, and after two dominating Tony Hawk releases, Neversoft ruled the 32-bit age of gaming with an iron fist, inspiring countless clones and topping sales charts with each of its efforts. The scary thing is, you haven’t seen anything yet.

I have a couple of complaints about the graphics here, of course, but that's just for the sake of covering myself. By all means, trample the homeless and innocent small children in your stampeding rush to own this game. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 is a great debut for the franchise on PlayStation 2, bringing an already-first-rate gameplay concept into a new graphical world completely intact, and it holds out the promise of even better next-generation skateboarding action to come in the next few years.

One of the best GameCube games out there right now. The GC version has shorter loading times when compared to the Playstation 2 version. But the graphics may be better. I have only played one level on the PS2 version. Anyway, lots of new features make this game well worth it. But I hear that the X-Box version will have some cool enhancements, lots of secrets, and more levels. So I might have to pick that one up as well.

All of the goals were different and the items were scattered around in different places. It was a completely new game to play. Tasks were actually a little more difficult, and required a bit more skill on my part. I was a little disappointed with the create-a-skater mode, but the fact we could take it "backwards up the poop shoot" makes for a great feature and was glad they didn't remove it. nd the fact there's a gap checklist adds hours of replay value.

THPS 3 is a very worthy addition to the series and to any gamer's game collection. I was very impressed with what was added and what was changed. Congratulations to Neversoft for maintaining the reputation of an already excellent series.

The Tony Hawk series has always had style. The first game reinvented a genre and set off a series of clones and pretenders that still flood the market today. The second game refined the formula, but its higher level of difficulty and steeper learning curve turned off casual players. The game has a lower level of difficulty at the beginning and some basic tutoring to appeal to new players but has enough hidden items and harder goals later on to keep the Tony Hawk experts interested as well.

It's unfortunate that this version of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 doesn't allow you to play 4-player split screen without the use of two Xbox machines. Fortunately, the Xbox version does contain an Xtreme Xclusively Xtra level. Overall, THPS3 is a near-perfect game, even if the gameplay is essentially unchanged from the first and second games. I highly recommend that you at least rent TH3 if you decide not to buy it. The game's single-player career if extremely fun, and the multiplayer modes and park editor add for great replay value.

By this point, most gamers have probably succumbed to the immense popularity of the Tony Hawk series. Success like this isn't accidental -- these games forged a new genre by focusing on excellent gameplay above all else. As the finest version of the best game in the series, this title comes recommended to all Xbox players.

Though THPS3 came out on PS2 several month ago, it doesn't come off as stale or overdone. Certainly anyone who has never played the game should pick it up. It's something all gamers should experience. The graphics are solid, the soundtrack is great, and it's incredibly fun. If you've already got the game on another console, there are some extras for the Xbox that may merit a trade-in. The custom soundtrack ability alone is worth it to me. Plus it's got a cool new character and a new level that Activision calls a preview of things to come in Hawk 4.

It goes against my nature to dissuade anyone from buying THPS3. However, and this is hard for me to say, if you've played this title on a console, then don't be in any rush to pick it up for PC. The online play is nice, but it's simply not the meat of the game. If you're an online fanatic, then by all means buy this game. Just don’t blame me when you get bored.

The rest of the PC's THPS3 play is the same as the PS2 version. It's got all the same features, all the same music, all the same everything. We would've liked to be able to include our own .mp3s or CDs into the song list as it seems natural on a PC and would give it another bullet point over the console versions. However, the included soundtrack is quite good and it's varied enough to suit most tastes. (I really wanted to skate to some Enya or perhaps a classical CD, but that's probably just me.) If you've got a gamepad and a medium to high-end PC, this is the Hawk to own.

Overall, THPS3 takes the series to the next level. What was already basically perfect from last generation's standards, this gets better. From the new re-vert stuff to the great graphics and level design, THPS3 is a must-own. Whether you're getting the Playstation 2 version or one of the others, it's highly recommendable on all accounts. It's simply one of the best games on store shelves at the moment.

Ein abwechslungsreicher Soundtrack, herausfordernde Multiplayer-Modi und kleine Extras wie der Park-Editor runden ein gelungenes und hochmotivierendes Spielerlebnis ab, das sowohl Anfänger als auch Kenner (und Könner) wieder stundenlang vor den Bildschirm fesseln dürfte. Dass es immer noch kleine Mankos hier und da gibt, dürfte angesichts der übermächtigen positiven Punkte nur die Wenigsten stören und zeigt, dass es auch Neversoft glücklicherweise (?) nicht gelungen ist, ein perfektes Spiel auf die Beine zu stellen. Okay, grafisch hätte Gearbox sicherlich mehr die Muskeln des PCs spielen lassen können. An der spielerischen Brillanz dieses Meisterwerks auf Rollen ändert das freilich nichts. Ich steige jedenfalls erst wieder vom Brett, wenn ein vierter Teil der alten und neuen Skateboard-Referenz erscheint!

All in all, THPS3 is by far the best of the bunch. It’s got the style, the balance, the tricks and the depth to amuse fans of this ever-growing genre for quite some time. This is certainly one that Xbox gamers will find a surprising joy to play, be they Skater or not.

The game is also the first game to feature network play, but due to the current abysmal state of online gaming in Europe, weâve yet to experience this. This is just extra icing to an already delicious cake, thatâs available to the lucky few and US gamers. However the rest of us can make do with the games excellent split-screen mode, still with all of the originals excellent modes.

Although I wouldn’t call THPS3 as innovative as THPS2 it is still far and away the best skateboarding game available on the Playstation 2 and it will probably remain the end all be all skating game for PS2 until well… THPS4 comes out. With that said this is a really great game and with the inclusion of the network play (a first for a PS2 game) I would expect to spend a lot of time with this one.

Overall, the game is faster and the levels seem to be even more packed with things to interact with than ever before. I'm having a lot of fun with it, and if you're a fan of the series, this is a fine sequel indeed. However, if you've played a THPS game before, you should ask yourself whether or not you want some more THPS action before you pick this one up. If you’ve never played a THPS game, this is a fine way to be introduced to the series.

Doch Cube-Spieler, die noch nicht das Vergnügen hatten, mit Tony Hawk auf einem anderen System zu skaten, können gefahrlos zugreifen: Sowohl solo als auch mit mehreren Freunden stehen zahlreiche Spielspaß-Stunden auf dem Programm.

Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 was the first game in the Tony Hawk series that came to the Mac. I had the opportunity to review THPS2 for another publication and I asserted that this genre defining title was about as good as video games get. The ease of its control system and intuitive game play combined with the overall "wow" factor and fun of the title put it right at the top of the heap. There were a few things that could be improved on, but none significantly affected the quality of the game. THPS3 takes the lessons learned from THPS2 and endeavors to make the whole package the better for them. In short, THPS3, as did its predecessor, follows the cardinal rules of game play: Make it fast, make it friendly, and make it fun.

Ultimately, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 is a bizarre dichotomy. On one hand, it's a fabulous game that will provide gamers with hours of enjoyment. On the other hand, the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and GameCube versions are far superior in every respect. In the end, it really doesn't matter. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 will be remembered not only as the Nintendo 64's final game, but one of its best titles in the console's library. If you don't have one of the newer consoles, fire up the old Nintendo 64 and prepare to get lost in the cool world of Tony Hawk.

If you have halfway decent reflexes and a gamepad, then you need to check it out. And if you don't have a gamepad, get one for it.

Now all I can say is Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3 is the best skateboarding game out there. Even if you dont skate or have any interest in doing it, just get THPS3 to get some of the greatest gaming goodness of your life.

With new levels to play and quirky characters to unlock you can get several weeks of gameplay from Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 is high-octane fun with a pulse-pounding soundtrack, over-the-top stunts and a boatload of special features. You knew you were going to buy it - now you know why.

I am utterly amazed at how well this game has held up against the time, considering it was released nearly a year back on the PS2. Although I played the Playstation 2 version to death last year, I’m still able to pick up the game and have just as much fun with it as I ever have before. And the depth and replayability of this game is nearly limitless. Activision and Neversoft has done it again. In Tony Hawk's case, the third time really is a charm.

Even if you aren't the biggest skateboarding game fan (me), but you like Snowboarding games (me), then I assure you Tony Hawk 3 will be a game you will enjoy. In my opinion, Tony Hawk 3 is an owner and deserves it's place next to the other sports games on your game rack.

Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3 is a game that will keep you glued to your screens if you ever had had the hots for arcade games or skateboarding. The incredible playability, loads of details and hidden features on each level, twenty good songs, a lot of movies about each rider in the game and the level editor really make this CD worth having. Editor's choice, of course...

When I gave Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 a perfect score of 10 a year ago, many questioned my judgement. All too often I was asked, "What will you give Pro Skater 3 then? An 11?" At the time, however, I truly felt Neversoft had achieved a level of perfection that would never be matched on PlayStation. It turns out I was right. The PS-X version of Tony Hawk 3 has only proven to me that part 2 was such a monstrous release, not even its masters could defeat it.

This was a total drag because the sound of the board on concrete and the snap of the bones when you fall are all top-notch atmosphere enhancers. In the end the gameplay makes this title a thoroughly addicting joyride. Tony 3 offers too much fun to pass up. Once you learn how to pull off some of the harder tricks in the game you'll be hooked.

Overall, the game is a great experience that I highly recommend. The hardest thing is learning the moves, and then being able to execute them when appropriate. Takes practice, but it’s all fun. There are plenty of options to play alone, or against a skate savvy friend. Maybe the first two in the series were better, but I think this one is strong enough o stand on it’s own. Shaba Games had big shoes to fill, and did not disappoint. Neversoft may have left the franchise in the hands of another, but we are left with a challenging, adrenaline fueled experience to keep the heart racing.

My thumbs hurt. My advice is to stop reading this review now if you’re considering buying this game. You should take the time to have a good heart to heart chat with your gamepad before reading further. Make sure it is willing to be nice and put up with long hours of your hands massaging it’s buttons. Mine wasn’t so nice to me, so I have to put up with its rough riding. And, two, because if you’re even thinking about buying this game, and you liked Tony Hawk 1 or 2, then you should stop procrastinating and go out and get this excellent third installment.

You've got unlockable videos, unlockable characters, unlockable tricks; there are lots of reasons to keep playing this game for a long time. It was very well done and if you are into skateboarding then you need to get this game. Even I am not really into that sport and I still like it. Sure, it might seem more impressive in real life but it is still a great experience and one that is, in my opinion, worth the price of admission.

There are the Demoness, where you skate as a scantily clad demoness with a move called AC Air, the opposite of Christ Air, where you are making yourself in the shape of an upside down cross. Another move called Going Home, where you melt into the ground and become the likeness of a pentagram. Another character is known as Private Carrera, and she is rather...sexual. One of her moves is Ohhh Yeahhh!, where she has some moves that are provocative in nature. There is also the Neversoft Eyeball, where there is a skater that looks like Frankstein's Monster with a giant eyeball for a head. And then there is Ollie the Magic Bum, where you are a homeless man that is drunk.

If you've already moved on to the current generation of gaming hardware, as most avid gamers have, you'll likely have a hard time coping with the technical shortcomings of this particular version of Tony Hawk 3, despite its underlying playability. So if you have the option of playing it on a newer console, you should take it. It's true that consoles don't age well, and on several levels this game simply cannot compete with the action-packed sports games coming out on other consoles right now. But stubborn N64 owners out there should take notice of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3, as it represents one of the best skateboarding games the platform has to offer and is quite possibly the last game the platform will offer, period.

Après le carton des deux précédents volets et l'excellente prestation du dernier opus sur PS2, Tony Hawk 3 arrive sur Xbox avec le vent en poupe et les faveurs du public. Ses modes copieux, sa jouabilité qui frise l'excellence et son style particulier font logiquement de ce nouvel épisode la référence incontestée du skate toutes consoles confondues. Les quelques nouveautés apportées en terme de gameplay et les grosses performances techniques seront un véritable régal pour les amateurs du genre qui ne pourront décemment pas passer à côté d'un tel titre. On peut simplement regretter la disparition du mode online et la durée de vie un peu courte en solo, mais on se console avec une fluidité encore plus impressionnante que sur PS2 ainsi qu'avec la possibilité de pouvoir rejouer avec différents skaters.

Encore un sans-faute pour Tony Hawk, même si l'on déplore le manque d'originalité de cette nouvelle mouture. Malgré quelques ajouts exclusifs, cet épisode reste dans le domaine du simple portage, et risque de générer un certain manque d'enthousiasme auprès d'une majorité de joueurs. Execution is one of the strongest aspects of Neversoft's games, and THPS3 is no exception. Indeed, this is definitely the slickest and more desirable Hawk to date. Long-standing fans of the series may demand more, but for skating virgins there is no finer game, and ultimately, there isn't much about Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 to deride. So we won't bother.

While Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 is a super game in its own right, I can't help but feel it isn't a significant enough step forward for the series. It's definitely unrivalled in speed, scale and sheer excitement, but there's a lack of innovation that taints the experience from start to finish. Don't rest on your laurels, Neversoft.

I still had fun playing – it IS Tony Hawk – but this falls well short of expectations. A while back, one reader suggested that we might want to marry Tony, due to all the praise we’ve lavished on the series. Well, it looks like the honeymoon is over.

As Sony’s official PlayStation 2 modem isn’t out yet, the game’s multiplayer mode -- the real big addition to the series -- isn’t really accessible. Other than the revert command and a few other tweaks and larger levels, this is just a small step up from the previous installment. However, considering that this is the only version optimized for the PlayStation 2 and that it has that knack for being great for random spurts or even for long play sessions, with the addictive ‘beat the score’ mentality that is missing from so many games these days, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 rounds out as a solid title.

Même si ce volet est sûrement le meilleur de la série, il est difficile de monter la note au dessus de 15 en raison d'un manque d'innovations et d'un concept qui commence à vieillir. A trop tirer sur la corde, Activision va finir par « Tomb Raideriser » son titre (pour mémoire, Tomb Raider était un bon jeu qui n'a pas assez évolué lors des épisodes successifs). Mais nous n'en sommes pas encore là. Alors pour l'instant, profitons du nouveau Tony Hawk et espérons que le suivant nous réserve beaucoup plus de surprises !

Vi PC-användare får naturligtvis se lite mer grafiska effekter än våra konsolvänner som också får njuta av Tony Hawk´s trea och grafiken fullgör sin plikt. Inget att anmärka på där alltså. Om det är något man ska klaga på är det att det inte bjuds på några direkta nyheter om man jämför med Thps2. Banorna är nya men i övrigt känns det bekant. Tricken är i stort desamma och utförs på samma sätt men tvåan var ju bra så varför skulle man ändra något?

Tony Hawks 3 is a very good game that is beginning to show its age through countless sequels, greater emphasis needs to be put on changing things in the fourth incarnation due at the end of this year. The Xbox version is the best one available and if you are lucky enough to own all three major machines, ignore the others in favour of it.

All of these complaints, though – the bland stages, annoying music, and repetitive gameplay – are mostly based on how much of the previous Hawk incarnations you have played. If you are either fairly new to the series or hopelessly hardcore, TH3 is probably going to be of interest to you. The music isn’t even really a problem for XBOX owners, and a few of the stages are beautiful. Compared to TH2, though, it almost appears that some aspects have taken a step backward. I’m waiting for something truly new and innovative

That's about it for this final N64 version of Tony Hawk, and the final game period. It's a Tony Hawk game stuck in a generation previous. It doesn't serve any purpose given the hardware, but it's playable if this is your only choice.

The graphics are pretty good, you can play on the internet, you can make your own skateboarder. There are career games and single-shots. You've probably already bought a copy. But, ultimately, this game is not fun, at all, to play, except when you send a skater hurtling into a pig iron smelter.
