You choose from an assortment of characters from humans, and talking cats to moving televisions. There are also random events like closing down shops or receiving money from other people. The game can go up to 6 players.

Trivia

Licensed Stores

The original 1998 releases (under the title Tenant Wars) actually featured licenses from major Japanese retail and restaurant chains. Players could run record store Tsutaya, drug store Matsumoto Kiyoshi, and even a Denny's. Subsequent releases, including the 1999 Success release (Tenant Wars Alpha) and the North American release (Top Shop), switched the licensed stores for sometimes-comical generic stores.
