A posséder absolument !
Digital Press - Classic Video Games
I could go on and on about this game, but I’ve got other games to play. No Cliché did a superb job with Toy Commander. They had fun creating it, and that fun carries over to its game play. A lot of imagination went into the missions, as referenced earlier by the bunny-costumed monsters or urine-filled cars (I won’t go into that one). And the game makers seemed intent on torturing every toy cow in sight whenever aliens are encountered. Replayability is above average because of the number of missions per room to complete, plus the time challenge of each mission to overcome. And as you complete more missions, more play fields open for multi-player combat.
Thankfully, you can still advance through the missions, but you don't get the sense of completeness you would if it was just a tad bit easier. In the end, though, the problem with difficulty didn't keep me from enjoying the experience, and I still find myself wanting more. But the thing is, I feel that with a bit more fluent control and a slightly less difficult path to completion, this would have been the killer app for the Dreamcast. As it stands now, it is still a must-have title, but Toy Commander lacks the polish expected from a game that has so many other things right. If you like games that are both challenging and distinct, you'll want to pick this one up, but prepare to get a little pissed off. Thankfully, the high points far outweigh the lows, and ultimately you'll get over the game's inconsistencies. Give it a shot, gang. Opening the toy box has never been this much fun.
This beautifully designed piece of gameplay will keep even hardened gamers occupied for hours on end
Planet Dreamcast
Overall, Toy Commander is an original and fresh game which provides a long lasting challenge and constantly surprises and amuses with its innovative design and excellent gameplay.
Defunct Games
Overall, Toy Commander scores one for the games that favor craft over flash. There are a few bumps in the road, but none spoil the quirky fun. Dreamcast admirers, rejoice, you have yet another awesome exclusive game to brag about to your preppy Ps2 touting peers.
Mega Fun
Game Freaks 365
Toy Commander stood out in the early days of the Dreamcast and provided a great experience for a slightly younger audience. Although some of the missions were frustrating and required annoying trial-and-error tactics, the others were entertaining and kept the player thinking, moving, and shooting. Toy Commander is definitely worth a shot if you stumble across it on eBay.
The Video Game Critic
Toy Commander's control is generally good, but navigating tight areas is often problematic. There's a nice split screen mode that accommodates up to four players, but it can be hard to locate opponents because they are so small! This is not really my cup of tea, but if you find the premise behind Toy Commander intriguing, then by all means give it a try.
