Trantor the Last Stormtrooper

Bildschirmballern ist hier mal wieder angesagt, doch technisch ist Trantor auf dem CPC blendend gelungen. Tolle Sprites, schnelles Scrolling und Farbeffekte machen es zu einem der Spiele, die so ziemlich alles aus der Hardware herausholen. Wenn man die Mission einmal geschafft hat, wird das Programm mit Sicherheit etwas langweilig, doch bis dahin werden Action-Fans gut unterhalten.

Hier können sich die Action-Fans unter den CPC-Besitzern kräftig die Hände reiben. Trantor ist grafisch ein Gedicht; alleine die farbenprächtigen Salven, die der Flammenwerfer spuckt, sind eine Augenweide. Trotz Extras und Codewort-Hatz ist das Spielprinzip nicht das allerintelligenteste. Wenn man einmal das Spiel gelöst hat, dürfte die Motivation absacken, da keine Punkte vergeben werden (von einer High-Score-Liste kann man nur träumen). Wer ein geradliniges, technisch gutes Action-Spiel sucht (und nicht mehr oder weniger) liegt bei Trantor genau richtig.

Great use of colour makes this sideways scroller a big improvement on the Spectrum version. On the gameplay front it's simple blast'n'search fare and the game task is still a bit too easy to provide any real long-term challenge - but what a stunner it is graphically!

Large well-animated sprites, and colourful detailed backdrops, not to mention quite a funky little syntho number, show that Go! have promise as a new label. But the actual diluted gameplay of this lets its creators down.

Frustration with over-frequent deaths may put you off to begin with, but once you've overcome this initial barrier you'll find completing the game far too easy for it to provide anything like a lasting challenge.
