The visuals are clean and attractive, but look somewhat plain compared to Sonic the Hedgehog (Genesis). There's unlimited continues and a pleasant soundtrack that will put you in a good mood. Overall Bonk's Adventure is good clean fun that will appeal to gamers for all ages.

Bonk’s Adventure is a superbly fun to play action game with tons of charm. The replayability factor is high due to the hidden rooms and the skill that perfecting the bonus rounds requires. It also features one of the better climaxes and endings in an action platformer: Bonk must fight all his boss friends one more time, while memorable music plays in the background, before finally facing King Drool against a sky of flashing colours.

Bonk may never have gotten as popular as his Nintendo and Sega rivals, but he didn’t have to be. NEC’s consoles were always marketed toward the hardcore gamer, so Bonk winning every gamer’s heart and mind was never feasible. He was able to show that his platforming perils were as good as his competitors’. Bonk’s Adventure was a wonderful game for its time. It still is.
1UP! (Feb 05, 2007)
While TurboGrafx eventually gave up the ghost, Bonk's games were some of the best of that era. Bonk's Adventure was full of all the platform goodness one would expect: Bonus levels, swimming areas, and big bosses.

Besonders witzige Grafik und gute neue Ideen bekommt Ihr hier im Dutzend billiger geboten.

Bonk ist Vegetarier. Bonk mag kein Fleisch.

Some of the later levels (like travelling through the insides of a dinosaur) are pure inspiration. Any self-respecting gamesplayer can't fail to appreciate the amount of time and effort gone into PC Engine Kid. Essential purchase number 15 of this month, I'm happy to say!

Bonk’s Adventure is more than enough to warrant a purchase of the TurboGrafx-16. The downside to that is that the few people who still own their Turbos probably won’t want to part with this long-out-of-print game.

All in all, an excellent and addictive game shining with originality and creativity.

Lens of Truth (Apr 08, 2009)
Bonk’s Adventure is a great platformer for the TG-16 even if can be beaten pretty easily. NEC and Hudson made the right choice going with the head bashing caveman as the mascot for their “then” new system. While not as defining a game as say Super Mario Bros. 3, Bonk somehow managed to carve its own spot in the already crowded genre of 2D platformers.
IGN (Dec 06, 2006)
2D platforming was one of the industry's most popular genres through the 8- and 16-bit generations, and Bonk's first outing is one of the classics of the age (inspiring numerous sequels, spin-offs and ports in following years). Those follow-ups you can safely go without -- but the original Bonk's Adventure is firmly recommended as an icon of the 16-bit era's oft-forgotten third place finisher.
HonestGamers (Mar 02, 2006)
Bonk’s Adventure isn't the most challenging platformer I've ever played, nor is the longest or most varied (most of the stages fit into a tiny handful of templates). But it does have a certain amount of charm that makes it a very fun game to play. The characters and backgrounds are all vividly-drawn and cartoonish, while Bonk is well-animated — regardless of whether he's trying to scale a cliff with only the use of his teeth or struggling to extract his head from the mouth of one of those alligators.

Defunct Games (Dec 18, 2005)
I would still recommend this game to anyone with a Turbo Duo. This is a solid platformer with fun, original elements and a unique character to boot. However, if possible, I would recommend one of the sequels, which have a more cohesive flow.
Excellent game play and bright and detailed cartoon-like graphics will delight all types of players. Enough challenge for all players.
Was wäre schließlich ein Jump-and-Run-Game ohne Endgegner?
