As you battle through the waves of enemy aliens you'll also run across some creative end bosses and some interesting new environments, though most of this has been seen before. If you're a burnt out shooter fan looking for something new on the TG-16, I can't recommend Sinistron more! The shield feature is totally different than most anything on the system and it's a load of fun!
TurboPlay (Dec, 1990)
Although the game may not feature some astounding new technology in video games or win a best graphics award, it does have the one thing that every game needs - it is incredibly addictive.

GamePro (US) (Feb, 1991)
Sinistron is an excellent shoot-em-up, but it isn't perfect. First of all, the music is rather bland, and it sounds basically the same for every level. Second, the game's pace is a bit slow. It's like you're driving on a highway at 5 mph. Everything comes toward you at normal speed but it takes forever just to reach the next mile marker. Finally, the last stage is so difficult that only the most fanatic Turbo-players will be able to beat it! All in all this is a graphically intense shoot-em-up that's a thumb-numbing challenge, but maybe you'll be too much for Sinistron to swallow!
The Video Game Critic (Mar 25, 2006)
The "biological cavern" of stage three is colorful but loaded with cheap hits. Your adversaries are forgettable in design, and many blend in with the scenery. Most bosses are strange masses where you can't tell the head from the tail. One aspect of the game I dislike is how your shots form blue circles when they strike a target - it looks cheesy. The sounds effects are weak, but the catchy, layered musical score is quite good. This isn't a standout shooter by any means, but Sinistron provides the quality shooting action you'd expect from the Turbografx.
Video Game Den (Jul 11, 2011)
All in all, Violent Soldier is fun and more than correct, but I'll only recommend it to shooter fans looking for a tough and gruelling challenge.
