Quick but blurry graphics and fast-paced action come together smoothly in this thumb-blistering side-scroller. It's sure to knock the shoot out of you!

Mega Turrican is a shooter with lasting power. Don't expect to finish it in a sitting - not with 15 horizontally and vertically scrolling levels to explore. You've got a bunch of weapons and gadgets at your disposal and you'll need every plasma-rope and energy wheel if you hope to survive. Hold on!

La qualité graphique un peu en-deçà des précédentes versions reste tout de même acceptable. Le point fort de Turrican III réside dans ses sprites (bougeant parfaitement) et ses scrollings (multidirectionnel). Quelques innovations sont apparues. Ainsi, le personnage a un grappin fixé sur son bras. Autant vous le dire tout de suite, cela augmente grandement la variété et oblige tout joueurs à le maîtriser sans quoi la progression sera plus que difficile. Les fans des précédents volets seront comblés, les nouveaux ne seront pas déçus. C'est un grand shoot'em up digne de l'Amiga.

Kurzum, Turrican III läßt hinsichtlich Gamedesign und Präsentation nichts von alldem vermissen, was die Serie berühmt gemacht hat. Die Jungs von Factor 5 haben großartige Arbeit geleistet, vom feinen Parallaxscrolling über die erstaunlich ideenreichen Szenarien bis hin zu den 32 Musikstücken und 82 Soundeffekten liefert das Programm Action in Perfektion. Zu bemängeln wäre allenfalls, daß die Handhabung etwas Eingewöhnung erfordert und der einfachste Schwierigkeitsgra die Sache wirklich arg simpel macht, während auf der schwierigsten Stufe selbst Profis verzweifeln können. Aber wen interessiert es? Turri ist wieder da, genial wie eh und je – ein Action-Hammer, um den uns die PC-Freanks beneiden werden!

Paula, Denise und Agnus führen ein beschauliches Leben im schützenden Gehäuse des Amiga. Nur ein Name läßt ihre Halbleiter erröten: Factor 5. Die deutschen Technokraten lassen keinen Programmiertrick aus und bringen durch blitzschnelle Grafik und bombastische Musik die Spezialchips regelmäßig zum Schmoren - R-Type, Turrican, Turrican 2 und BC Kid verzauberten Commodores Apparat in einen Spielautomaten ohne Münzschlitz. Besonders Manfred Trenz' Stahlsöldner Turrican gravierte sich mit seinem Laser in die Herzen der Amiga-Anhänger. Nach über zwei Jahren Wartezeit, Super Turrican für das Super Nintendo und Mega Turrican für Segas Mega Drive, kehren Factor 5 letzten Endes zu ihren Amiga-Wurzeln zurück: Turrican 3 will die Gipfel der Verkaufscharts zurückerobern.

Overall, Turrican 3 is a quality blast with inventive levels, a good arsenal of weapons at your disposal, and some excellent graphical touches. The first two games suffered from rather mechanical Lego-like level design whereas this new offering provides five distinct levels, all of which are highly imaginative in their layout and the challenges they set. There are not many Amiga shoot em ups this good on the market.

Bereits vor gut einem Jahr präsentierte die kölsche Programmiertruppe Factor 5 stolz eine fertige Mega-Drive-Version der Kultserie "Turrican". Aufgrund vertriebstechnischer Wirren hat es jedoch bis heute gedauert, ehe der Action-Titel über Data East erschien. Dabei muß sich die deutsche Produktion vor der Konkurrenz nicht verstecken: Fünf Welten mit insgesamt 15 Levels und ebensovielen Mega-Motzen beschäftigen den Spieler.

Mega Turrican is a very good game. The levels are huge and there are many and there are many power-ups and items to collect. The levels are huge and your character's swing cable is a great and innovative weapon.

Credo che l’importante sia sapere cosa aspettarsi da questo titolo e cercare di goderselo per quello che è, senza pregiudizi, apprezzando i tanti alti ed evitando di rimpiangere ciò che sarebbe potuto/dovuto essere. Di una cosa sono però convinto e faccio mea culpa: se avesse avuto un altro titolo, probabilmente starei qui ad elogiarlo e ad usare ben altri, altisonanti aggettivi… ma quel nome pesa come un macigno.

I've always enjoyed the Turrican games, even the first (which my friends said was too hard). Mega Turrican ups the ante and delivers fast paced action that will surely please any shooter fan. Games like this are a dying breed today, which is a shame, as blowing things up with big guns never gets old. If you have a Genesis (I refuse to believe anyone out there doesn't!) get yourself a copy and have some mindless, senseless fun for a while.

Wer hätte je gedacht, daß wir noch mal als Bren McGuire gegen "The Machine", die Endgültige, antreteten müßten; nach all der Rumballerei auf dem C-64, Super Nintendo, Game Boy, etc. Selbst auf dem Mega Drive gab es vor zwei Jahren schon einen Vorläufer. Vor einem Jahr durften wir die ersten Level in der Vorabversion durchzocken. Nach einigen Anlaufschwierigkeiten ist Meg Turri vor kurzem in den USA endlich erschienen.

Although it does not introduce any new concepts to the platform shoot-em-up theme, Turrican 3 is a well-crafted enjoyable game that hits all the right buttons.

With both games priced at the same 800 Wii Point level and arriving so close to one another in the Wii Shop, it could be argued that choosing between Super Turrican and Mega Turrican is a toss-up decision. But our recommendation would follow the order in which they appeared this year – check out Super Turrican first, then, if you find yourself still craving yet more futuristic blasting action, consider dropping an additional eight bucks on this Genesis edition of the design. And Factor 5? A suggestion – give us a while to experience these two titles before dropping a third on us, OK? We know you’ve got Super Turrican 2 ready to drop in the Shop as well, but your potential sales will benefit from a bit more of a breather between releases.
