UMS: The Universal Military Simulator

UMS is unique in setting new standards in the field of wargames. Words fail to describe the possibilities and sheer power of the program, and with the backing of further data disks to be released (containing historical battles) it is set to become a classic program. The Universal Military Simulator is simply brilliant - enough said.

Wer unter dem Begriff Simulation jedoch die naturgetreue Darstellung von Freund und Feind versteht, sollte besser die Finger von diesem Programm lassen.

A visual feast, but a playable desert, U.M.S. is incorrect on two counts—it is neither universal nor a simulator. It lacks a naval option, and the user interface is quite clumsy. The initial disk includes the Battles of Arbela, Hastings, Marston Moor, and Waterloo (the last of which omits the Prussians in toto).

A wargame design kit, characterized by easy design parameters. However, accuracy is sacrificed for playability, and often playability is sacrificed for graphic display. Maritime operations are ignored, so its universality is not "complete." It will visually impress your friends, although it is clumsy and awkward.
