Uncharted Waters

Wie üblich bietet Koei eine hervorragend aufeinander abgestimmte Mischung aus Strategie- und Handelselementen. Doch stärker noch als in "Bandit Kings of Ancient China" hat man diesmal auf Adventure-Elemente gesetzt: Der angehende Herrscher der sieben Meere findet beizeiten Piratenschätze, rettet Prinzessinen aus den Klauen blutrünstiger Korsaren und schlägt sich mit feindlichen Flotten. Die Motivation, als Freibeuter oder braver Handelskapitän alles zum Ruhme des Vaterlandes zu unternehmen, ist uferlos. Mit stolzgeschwellter Brust nimmt man die Belobigung des Königs entgegen und rüstet die nächste Expedition aus. Wer Pirates mochte und jetzt auf einer höheren, nicht zu schweren strategischen Ebene in See stechen möchte, dem sei Uncharted Waters wärmstens empfohlen.

What struck me instantly about this game was the amazing music. It just made me go "whoah" from the first note. It really fits the theme of the game perfectly. The rest of the game is also very well done, and easy to learn. It is a trading game, to put it simply. Using the little money you have, you need to equip a ship with crew, water and food, and of course trading stock. Then sail to other ports and sell your goods to the highest price.

Uncharted Waters is a long and complex ocean voyage. If you have an interest in four-masted voyages of European discovery, you could read a history book or play this game, the excitement levels are about the same.

This ship sprang a few leaks on the way out to the swirling oceanic unknown. It still floats, but, as Columbus showed, it takes a committed captain to last the journey.
