From Southern Belle Ghosts to zombies, and even a truly oddball greenhouse, this was one of the best haunted house games I ever played...and there have been many. For this reason and more, it's a firm member of Techtite's choices for Top 50 Multimedia Classics.

Overall, Uninvited is an excellent example of old school adventuring. This is not a game that’s recommended to the “21st century junkies” out there. No 3D, T&L, 4xAA or pixel shading effects here. Just an excellently designed pure adventure, which completely absorbs the player into its world, creating an atmosphere steeped in fear and loneliness. You will literally feel that your mind and your life are threatened as you explore the mansion where not only are you unwelcome, but you are also uninvited.

The storyline may not be original, but nevertheless it is quite an entertaining adventure. The icon and window system is clear and easy to use, and the response is fairly rapid. I still prefer the old-fashioned text-only adventures to this graphic type, but that's merely a matter of taste.

"The Uninvited," is best played with a couple friends so there's more theories going around about the puzzles. It's a lot of fun to bring out the Nintendo and try beat this game in one sitting. It'll be sure to offer some delicious nostalgia...that and there's a lot of funny ways to kill yourself. Uninvited will appeal to fans of, "Maniac Mansion," and the forementioned classic, "Shadowgate," both available on the Nintendo. And if you enjoy your time spent with, "The Uninvited," try either of those games, or, "Deja Vu," on Nintendo if you're looking for a real challenge.

No, if you want the best graphics in addition to bloodcurdling screams and angry crashes of thunder, the Amiga is definitely the one to go with. And if you’re an experienced (patient) adventure gamer who doesn’t mind the constant threat of doom (actively seeks out all the gory ways you can off yourself in each room), the creepy atmosphere and black humor of Uninvited is sure to get you.

Without question this game is a classy piece of work. The sound and graphics have been put together most professionally and together they create just the right atmosphere for the creepy plot. The actual mechanics of everything work smoothly and have been well thought out. My only hesitation about wholeheartedly recommending the package concerns the logic of the problems to be overcome in the actual solving of the game.

Kemco/Seika continues it's successful series of first-person perspective adventures with this visit through a mysterious and danger-filled mansion. Like Shadowgate, there are many elements of magic and other-worldly events in this story.

More than two decades after release, horror buffs might still be willing to brave its deadly perils, but everyone else will find Uninvited all too uninviting.

If the title reminds of you an old PC game made back in '86 by ICOM... well that's probably because this is the very same game. Uninvited is essentially a text-based adventure, polished up with some basic graphics and a point-and-click interface. If you don't like such games, or reading, the door is over there. If you're otherwise interested, read on, though with caution.
