Unreal Tournament: Game of the Year Edition is one sweet game. With tons of maps, modes of play, and frantic single and multiplayer action, UT is where it's at. Using the included game-finder, you can search the Internet for the perfect game. Controls are very user-friendly and the interface is Windows-familiar. UT: GOTY is near perfect, and should be a must buy for any fan of the first person shooter genre.

Only a few games reach such lofty heights. This one is remarkable in most every way, and brilliantly executed.

Fans of UT undoubtedly know that most of the things I’ve mentioned are available for free on the Internet. UT:GOTYE is not for the fans – it’s for new players or people that may have passed up UT on the first run through. There is a reason that UT was selected Game of the Year by multiple gaming publications: (a lot of "F" words coming up) it’s fast furious fun for FPS fanatics! The graphics, audio, weapon balance (secondary fire kicks ass!) and creative level design make Unreal Tournament: Game of the Year Edition one of the all time best games of the FPS genre and gaming in general. If you missed it, get it!

Whether it’s the best of it’s kind or not, for a modest price tag of $19.99, Unreal Tournament: Game of the Year Edition is plenty of bang for your buck.

While all of this extra content is a fantastic addition to an already superb entry in the first-person genre, existing users of Unreal Tournament will discover that these mods and map packs are already available for download online. If you already own Unreal Tournament, there's no compelling reason to shell out the 20 bucks for something that you can grab for free. However, if you're easily annoyed by long download times and hassling yourself with updating and configuring, or if you've never dabbled with UT before, Unreal Tournament: Game of the Year Edition just might be what you've been looking for.

If you don't already own UT and have a twenty to spare, pick it up; it's a great game. And the best part about UT: Julia Roberts is that you can separate it into its components and play Unreal Tournament without the chipper, obnoxious overbite part. How delightful it would be if I had that option when I went to the movies with my wife to see Reservoir Dogs (a film by Nora Ephron).

Additional play options that make the "Game of the Year Edition" what it is are the Rocket arena and Chaos mode. Whether you choose to fight to the death in the ruggedly bare-bones Rocket arena (no power-ups or weapons upgrades), or use the sword, crossbow and animated smiley-face mines to blow your opponent away in Chaos mode, you'll find interesting and momentarily diverting gaming. Even though these additions don't really break any new ground in terms of originality, it's unlikely gamers will be bored whether fragging solo or playing head-to-head in an online battle to the death. In the realm of first-person shooters, Unreal Tournament: Game of the Year Edition is sure to please the gaming adrenaline junkie with beautifully rendered graphics and pulse-pounding gameplay.

On its face, there really isn't anything wrong with this bundle, but it's a shame that it lacks any new content to lure people that already own the original game. It would have been nice if there were a mod or two that you could only get by buying the Game of the Year Edition.
