Description
Vega Strike is an open source space simulator in the same vein as
Elite. You pilot a space ship throughout interstellar space, fighting bad guys and engaging in trade in the process. The game supports keyboard, mouse and joystick controls, and a planned multiplayer extension is in the works.
One of the game's main attractions is its mod-ability. In fact, several mods already exist, including (most famously) two
Wing Commander: Privateer mods, a
Star Trek mod, an
Elite mod and a
Babylon 5 mod.
The game is currently at version 0.5.0 and is completely playable. However, continued development has progressed only very slowly.
