Village Sim [2005] and "Virtual Villagers: A New Home" [2006] is two different entry on LDW site: http://www.ldw.com/virtualvillagersanewhome/index.html

"Village Sim" is only for Palm OS, and "Virtual Villagers: A New Home" is a year after for Windows and Mac.

It is correct. On the pages you refer to:

Virtual Villagers- A New Home (aka Village Sim) is also available for Palm OS

Village Sim (aka Virtual Villagers: A New Home) is also available for WINDOWS / MACINTOSH

From the FAQ on the Official website:

How is Virtual Villagers different from Village Sim?
Virtual Villagers is basically the desktop version of Village Sim. Since Virtual Villagers was developed after Village Sim, it has some additional features: 4 addtional puzzles, naming of villagers, more island events, likes and dislikes of villagers, mushroom hunt for children, new original music.

Sounds like a new entry to me.
