Virtua Cop 2

Virtua Cop 2 is also more challenging than the first, with more hostages that get in the way. The game is longer, and the interesting scenery includes a department store, an ocean liner, and a subway. You can even choose your path at certain times, increasing the replayability. Saturn fans should not miss this game.

All told, Virtua Cop 2 is the best shooter to come out for the home console systems (so far). The amazing realism combined with the beautiful graphics overwhelmingly compensate for the preposterous size of the gun (oops, I mean stunner). If you want a game that will appeal to all audiences, young and old, stop searching and pick up a copy of Virtua Cop 2.

For lightgun fans, VC2's a solid buy. Otherwise, it's short-lived but frenzied fun makes for a top Saturn rental.

In Sega's growing collection of PC titles, Virtua Squad 2 (VS2), the newest addition, is by far the best of what Sega has ever produced for this platform. Featuring fast and dazzling graphics, VS2 rocks the player into intense action and non-stop challenge against a cohort of criminals and terrorists. Based on the arcade hit Virtua Cop 2 developed by the same company, players endorse the role of one of the three police officers included in the game, Michael Hardy, James Cools, and new to this sequel, Janet Marshall.

The graphics look great, and the accuracy of the light gun is near-perfect. I like the different weapon power-ups and the different levels of difficulty - this helps the replay value. I did find myself getting a little bored the fourth or fifth time playing through the game, though.

Hay que felicitar a Sega por el excelente trabajo que han hecho en la adaptación de este juego a PC, pero lo cierto es que hay juegos que no están hechos para este soporte, y Virtua Cop 2 es uno de ellos.

Virtua Cop 2 ist ein sehr gelungener Lightgun Shooter, mit 4 sehr guten und herausfordernden Levels. Der große Nachteil sind aber eben auch die „nur“ 4 Level, das sind eindeutig zu wenige und da es auch nichts freizuspielen gibt, leidet die Langzeitmotivation schon ziemlich. Da ja auch das Spielprinzip herausfordernd ist, ist Virtua Cop 2 somit eher etwas für zwischen durch oder für den 2 Spieler Modus.

Every time it looks as though the Saturn is faltering, another AM title comes along to re-establish why the console has so many devotees. Virtua Cop 2 is Sega par excellence. In terms of form, it is the ultimate arcade game: endlessly inventive yet driven by a narrow, simplistic plot.

Like any good arcade game, this one offers some special hidden features. Among these is the option to randomize the villains, which helps bolster the game's somewhat limited replay value. Also, Virtua Squad 2 includes the seemingly ubiquitous "big head" mode. Why? I have no idea, but I'm hoping it's because younger players find it amusing. Two players can play side-by-side in the basic game, or head-to-head in a confusing shoot-out mode. This latter option is one of the game's only real lackluster points, as it simply isn't much fun at all. Still, Virtua Squad 2 is a great game for players with an itchy trigger finger. If you're looking for a simple, fun, and fast-moving action arcade game, this may be the perfect choice.

The popular arcade hit Virtua Cop 2 has come to the Saturn. This incredible arcade-to-home translation has sports texture mapped graphics and faster gameplay than the original Virtua Cop. While the first Virtua Cop set a new standard for light gun shooters, Sega and the AM2 team have delivered an incredible sequel that takes the concept to a whole new level.

While one of the better arcade ports in recent memory, Virtua Squad 2 suffers from the limits placed on it by its PC home. That it still turns out to be incredibly entertaining in short bursts is a testament to the skill of Sega's designers. In the end, Virtua Squad 2 is perfectly executed and excels in its limited niche of gaming-dom.

Die Welt ist böse: Oft mußte ich als Spieletesterin von Herstellern schon Schelte für einen kritischen Meinungskasten einstecken, doch mindestens genauso oft wurden von mir erwähnte Mängel beim Nachfolger nicht ausgemerzt und prompt ist die nächste Schelte vorprogrammiert... Warum also wurde diesem Reaktionsspiel keine Steuerung spendiert, die in allen Modi befriedigend funktioniert. Die Nachladeklicks werden oft nicht angenommen.

Zum Schluss kann man sagen, dass Virtua Cop 2 ein sehr simpler, aber actionreicher Titel ist, den man auf jeden Fall einmal gespielt haben sollte. Größtes Manko ist natürlich die Grafik, aber wer darüber wegsehen kann wird mit diesem Spiel bestens bedient sein. Für Multiplayerfans ist sicher der Co-Op Modus sehr reizvoll und bietet genug Motivation das Spiel durchzuspielen. Wer aber ein komplexes und vielschichtiges Game erwarte sollte lieber zu einem anderen Spiel greifen.
