Yes, I play games. Especially since the VB came out. I really like this thing! OK, first of all, Jack Bros. has cool little monster dudes in it. Right there, I'm loving it. Secondly, it incorporates shades of Bomber Man and I love to blow stuff up. Just ask around. Now throw in a headpin' helpin' of 3-D as only the Virtual Boy can and you've got yourself a game that'll leave you with VB boy goggles prints in your face. Very cool!

Defunct Games
I know it's difficult to get, but as a rare collectors game it sure does prove to be a great quality game. "Kids to adults animated violence" isn't the tag of this game for nothing. Most will love to play this game. Did I mention it was great fun game to play?

Not your regular platform game, Jack Bros. gives the home console platform genre a new twist by providing an overhead view. Overhead platformers have been few and far between, and I would have to say this is the best one I've played. The 3-D really makes a difference. Graphics are pretty good and at times very "anime" looking in style. Music and sound was pretty average though, not really making any kind of impression on me either way. Playcontrol was good though. If you have a Virtual Boy, I'd suggest you make this game part of your core library, if for nothing else but the novelty of it.

The Video Game Critic
The characters are composed of stacked 2D sprites, but the illusion of 3D is modest at best. The Halloween theme isn't readily apparent either, thanks to the run-of-the-mill music and generic creeps. A password is provided between levels, but no score. Ultimately I'm glad I settled for the Japanese version, because Jack Bros. is definitely not worth breaking your piggy bank for.
