In short this is the classic Space Invaders plus a number of new 3D variations on it, if you liked other Space Invaders conversions you will surely enjoy this Virtual Boy version as well. As classic and retro as they come this game is. I like blasting the aliens, at times even my hands started sweating because things went so fast, a great golden oldie. As for the price you should pay, you all know Space Invaders so you must determine what it's worth yourself.
With Space Invaders: Virtual Collection it feels as if Taito really missed a trick to make this one of the stand-out games in the VB library. If you're looking for a simple version of the franchise this one is ideal but others hoping for some innovation and depth will likely be disappointed.
Pas un indispensable de la ludothèque mais l'aspect collection peut bien entendu prendre le pas sur le prix auquel il serait raisonnable de craquer !
The 2D version included here is a faithful port of the arcade original but fans could easily get this fix elsewhere (and with colour options) so the game has to offer something more. Only including one additional (very similar) game limits the appeal whilst the 3D versions disappoint. They may have good use of 3D and some decent looking backgrounds but sticking to the basic designs for the rest of the game and using the old audio was a mistake. For massive Space Invaders fans, playing in 3D offers something different they will want to try, but Taito could have done so much more with it. Anyone else wanting to play Space Invaders is better off seeing which of their other consoles/handhelds/wi-fi capable bananas it’s available for.
