Retro Game Reviews (Mar 27, 2016)
Virtual Fishing is very accessible to newcomers of the sport with its simple, yet entertaining gameplay that's perfect for short gaming sessions. Where it falters is its lack of depth and modes as once you've beaten each tournament there's really no reason to stick around.
Nintendo Life (Apr 16, 2009)
Annoying audio-wise and at times visually flawed, Virtual Fishing at least keeps you occupied with multiple competitions, two modes of play and saved records. You often find something tugging at the line, which means there's not as much waiting around as you might expect from a fishing game. It’s just a pity that catching something quickly becomes easy, with the only challenge being added by that first step of hooking the fish.
Defunct Games (Feb 13, 2005)
For the fishing fans only!! For the fans of the sport this is probably a very easygoing, fun and relaxing game in which I as an uninterested non-fisher am probably missing some features and options, but can you blame me knowing it's all in Japanese?
The Video Game Critic (Jun 24, 2014)
Virtual Fishing is a marginal title, but like most fishing games, it has an addictive quality. So if your desperate for a new Virtual Boy title, this import might be worth considering.
