As much praise as there is to be had, I must deduct points due to the extreme lack of playable characters. Sure the game is called Waku Waku 7, but having only seven playable characters is a major drag. Regardless, the game is fantastic and worth hunting down. This is one game I wish SunSoft would have brought out for other systems!
Neo GeoAll Game Guide
Despite having a tendency for very short rounds, Waku Waku 7 is a great fighting game. It combines wacky, offbeat character and background designs that exude gobs of personality with a fighting system that would rival the most serious of fighting games. Unless you have a total aversion to fighters -- or cuteness -- then Waku Waku 7 is very much worth your while.
SEGA SaturnDefunct Games
As far as fighting games go this is a great game, and even today the graphics look fresh and the gameplay still stacks up when compared to newer games like King of Fighters and Last Blade. The Saturn version is somewhat rare now, but it's worth the find if you can get it. People who own this game on the Neo Geo will tell you this is one of the best fighters on the system, and it's definitely one of the best fighters on Saturn in my book. If you like fighters, anime and games with some speed then pick this one up, because you can't go wrong with Waku Waku 7.
