But this Wii version of the WALL-E game is quite challenging to play, and too hard for the youngest members of the movie's targeted audience. This version is best played by kids 9 and up, but even they may experience some frustration with the infrequent save points, which will cause them to replay portions of the game over and over again. And the instructions can be incomplete and not shown on the screen for long, so be prepared to experiment. At times, the camera angles can be frustrating as you try to gauge if a platform is close enough for EVE to pick up WALL-E and carry him before her power runs out.

Children in the target age range for the "WALL-E" movie will undoubtedly love this game, from the youngest in that demographic to the oldest. But the game is also quite enjoyable and good for adults, especially fans of "WALL-E" or Pixar movies in general. If you can't abide platforming games, you won't much like the core of WALL-E, but this would be true for you of most all good or great games in the platform genre. Otherwise, Heavy Iron delivers a game well worth owning and, at the risk of being trite in mentioning it, actually does justice to the original license when what seems a strong critical bias against movie tie-in games certainly isn't unearned. WALL-E is better than EA's quite good, yet more fan-centric, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix tie-in title, and that's saying something.

Anyone, from kids to adults, can pick up and play this title; it’s fairly easy to get through it, despite some challenging levels that require more platforming skills. The story is charming but ironic at the same time. Lighthearted humor is served throughout, making WALL-E one of the most fun kids’ games an adult can play. If you’re not into animated movies, you should just skip this one altogether. But, if you’re looking to extend your WALL-E experience, this game shouldn’t disappoint you!

Wall-E isn't a bad game. It has all the right mechanics and covers its movie's plot fairly well. If you are looking for the next great thing, then you will want to pass. But if you are just looking for some trash-compacting fun or you really enjoyed the movie, then Wall-E is probably worth the rent, but not necessarily a purchase.

WALL*E is a tie-in, yes, but where movie tie-ins are concerned, it's a well implemented one, both in concept and in its relation to the film. However, the confines of working with the movie's universe didn't really leave much room for gameplay exploration, but when the characters are this lovable, it's easy to overlook that the rest of the game is a pretty standard platformer.

The bottom line is that Wall-E isn't bad for a movie-licensed game. Yet, it doesn't do anything to extend its appeal outside of fans of the film and children. However, it should please them with its multiplayer games and fun platforming segments. You'll be fine as long as you don't expect anything extraordinar-e.

Wall-E is a much better game than many could have hoped for. It has all the charm of it?s main protagonist, and although far too easy most people will want to play through the main game twice. The local multiplayer options are also great fun. Although I am probably coming from the opposite end of the spectrum to most Wall-E fans, this one really makes me want to go out and see the movie!

With some solid graphics and some inspiring levels WALL-E is a game that will appeal to children who enjoyed the film. We still think the Cars games are the best Pixar games, but WALL-E can be quite a bit of fun and getting sucked into the Earth of the future is a prospect children will love.

While the main platforming gameplay in WALL-E for the Wii is solid and fun, it's really not good for more than a single playthrough and a collecting run. You'll be lucky to get more than a few hours of fun out of this, even if you have a houseful of kids eagerly dedicated to WALL-E. While it's not bad, the higher price tag of home consoles makes it difficult to recommend this. Consider picking up the movie DVD when it comes out instead.

PlayStation 3Da Gameboyz
Overall WALL•E for the PS3 is not a bad game but it does have its share of issues and annoyances. The visuals are decent but the technical issues over shadow a game that otherwise has decent looks. The sound is solid as well but the music’s repetitive looping gets tiresome. As for the gameplay; as the old saying goes "been there and done that". To that end, I would recommend that any casual or platform gamer rent WALL•E for the PS3 before you buy it, but if you are a true fan of the little robot, and really enjoyed the movie, you may just want to add this game to your collection to relive what you saw on the big screen.

WiiGame Vortex
Many frustrations overwhelm what would seem otherwise to be the perfect license for a game. Making WALL-E an Action/Platform game would not have been bad on its own if there was more polish applied. More of a controlled, 2D or 2.5D experience would have made this accessible by more gamers, especially those in the lower end of the age range that saw the movie. Clearly the developers attempted something with serious breadth, and the visuals speak to some concern for faithfully bringing WALL-E to the Wii. If only the developers had been inspired by the creativity of the movie to make a similarly innovative game instead of retreading tired formulas we've seen in too many other licensed boondoggles.

Xbox 360Jolt (UK)
After seeing the film, kids will want to spend more time in Wall-E’s world, and the videogame allows them to do so. It’s mildly entertaining, mildly disappointing, mildly challenging and overall just mild. It certainly brought a smile to our faces on more than one occasion, but more often than not the game provides little motivation to play other than to enjoy a small slice of Pixar’s genius.
65
Xbox 360Worth Playing
It's hard to say that the video game of WALL-E is disappointing; as August March noted in his review of the PlayStation 3 version of this game, the relatively high quality of the game is a major piece of Disney's marketing strategy to keep up demand through the Christmas season. However, while I wouldn't recommend it to anyone except kids (or their parents), in part because of the rather subpar control scheme, at least the older brother who has to watch or play along isn't going to be completely annoyed at the game's quality level. He may even find it fairly likeable on its own merits. A revolution in gaming WALL-E is not, but as a game that I wouldn't object to selling to a kid in the slightest? Oh, absolutely!
65
PlayStation 3Playstation Illustrated
Typically, I'd recommend Wall-E for younger gamers, especially since there's a real lack of games targeted at younger players on the PS3. However, Wall-E isn't that good a game to begin with, so unless your kid is a major Wall-E fan, it probably won't hold their interest for very long.

Schade!

Xbox 360GameZone
Overall Wall.E is a decent movie-license game that fans of the movie (mostly children) will love. The main problem is that the developers really didn’t do anything to make this game stand out from other platform games and it isn’t “deep” enough to keep older gamers coming back. In the end this game ends up being for a younger gaming audience who are fans of the movie.

WALL-E on the PS3 has some really good graphics and a very decent audio but the puzzles and gameplay leave a bit to be desired. The puzzles and platforming work pretty good but does not have much depth to it for adults but together with the mini games it may give you enough value to purchase at least until the DVD release of WALL-E.

I loved how when you left Wall-E alone he would move his eyes up and down and look around, that was a good touch. All in all this game is pretty much on the same level as most movie tie in games, I would avoid unless you are particularly infatuated with Wall-E and love him saying his own name as sadly when he says that as you load up the game is the most fun part of it.

WALL•E for the Wii is definitely not a bad game; however it just doesn’t stand out in a market where you have to be good to be appreciated. With barely average graphics, ok sound, solid control, and enjoyable but short lived gameplay, it is hard to wholly recommend this game to everyone. However, I can honestly say that this game does deserve a chance to experienced, if only just to hear that now recognizable “WALLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEE” that has become so identified with the movie.

The presentation is the only part of Wall-E that separates it from the glut of other platformers out there. The different gameplay mechanics offered by Eve and Wall-E provide some variety in this adventure, but the ideas are never fully fleshed out. This is still a fun game for anyone anxious to spend more time with the garbage-making robot, but there isn't enough depth or replay value to raise this above similar movie-licensed offerings.

You can’t ignore the fact that WALL·E and EVE are a cute couple, some of the gameplay is well thought-out and fun to play, and it’s definitely one of the better movie-to-game conversions of late, but sometimes you just wish a game was better than it turned out to be.

Don’t get it if you’re looking for the next imaginative platformer though. Multiplayer definitely feels like it’s been tacked on for a bit of extra life in the game, but the difficulty of everything will probably suit its target audience. Then again, you could use it to quickly boost your gamerscore if you’re that way inclined. (Why do you think I volunteered to review it?)

But like many movie based games, and those more so based upon animated movies, they have a specific audience to aim at. In general the casual audience, but more specifically people who are fans of the movie which is likely in this case to be young teenagers and children. Younger teenagers or children can be seen playing this game for a while, the basic but easy to pick up controls and gameplay activities are perfectly suited. It was also interesting to find out that this game had taken features from other famous titles, Crash Bandicoot came to mind when playing some of the missions, and this should be slightly refreshing for previous platformer fans. So the game isn’t confined to people who like the film, others, even hardcore gamers, may enjoy some aspects of the game, it’s just not a title you will see worthy of its retail price tag and probably not a title you’d come back to once fully completed.

As a family game, I'd say Wall-E pretty much hit's the spot. It's bright, fun and funny and young fans of the movie will love the chance to play as the feckless robot. Just don't expect anything more advanced than a simple platformer that's good for a few days amusement or a little longer if you're introducing your kids to your console at a very early age.

The game will only take most gamers five hours, at most, to complete, but it does offer a little bonus replay value in the way of same-console multiplayer modes. The game offers four different games for two to four gamers to tackle together. There are three adversarial modes, including a robot take on tag and timed keep-away contests, and one co-operative game where gamers work together to add time to a constantly draining timer by throwing blocks. They are all rather basic, but do add some additional worth to item collection in the game, as the various maps for the games are unlocked in the story mode. There are certainly bigger offenders in the 'bad movie-game' pantheon of games, but Wall-E is in the team photo, and has better source material than most to pull from. Gamers just do not expect much of movie-based games anymore, but the lack of story, repetitive gameplay, and nagging camera issues make this one hard to recommend even for the younger gamers.
58
Xbox 360Gaming Age
So, depending on your system of choice you definitely have some options. If you're looking for a decent home console version, then I suggest giving the PS3 or 360 titles a try, and if you're looking for a fun but short puzzle title, then Wall-E on the DS is the way to go. None of the games are particularly excellent, and the PSP title is definitely the worst of the bunch, but for a movie related game they do a pretty good job of capturing the look and feel of the film, and they're not a bad way to waste a few hours if you really enjoyed the movie.

PlayStation 3Game Shark
The game WALL•E certainly does a good job of duplicating the overall story of the movie and for that it should be commended. Adding in the collection aspect as an option was a fantastic idea for catering to the younger crowd. This game should be enjoyable for the whole family and a parent may need to be present in order to explain everything to a child. For a movie tie-in game for the younger crowd, it's not bad.

Wall-E on Wii isn’t a terrible game, but it feels like a rushed one. Developer Heavy Iron Studios has some good ideas here, but the poor graphics (particularly the frame rate) and sketchy sound really hold back the overall package.

If you are a fan of the WALL-E film and don’t mind a somewhat easy and repetitive experience, this game should be right up your alley. Even with a fairly short single-player campaign, a plethora of multiplayer offerings help to make this game a more lengthy experience. While some of these modes are more fun than others, several can be rather entertaining distractions. Whether you play it alone or with friends, WALL-E succeeds at being an adequate movie-based video game with just enough charm and gameplay to win over a multitude of moviegoers.

I full-well realize that WALL-E is aimed at kids. But at the same time, I full-well realize that kids aren't as oblivious as they seem. At age 10, I knew the difference between a crappy game and a good one, and I'm sure that today's kids do too. You must also consider that there are much better games out there for children, such as Ratchet and Clank Future, or even Kung Fu Panda (an example of a good movie-based game). WALL-E is a boring game with sub-par gameplay, poor replay value, lacking presentation, and little-to-no visual polish. Your money is better spent elsewhere - consider the much better alternatives just mentioned.

I’ve gotten used to not expecting much from movie games, and when I played the final version of WALL-E, it met those light expectations. It’s not devoid of fun; it’s just not that powerful an entertainment experience. It’s not ugly nor broken; it’s just not particularly well crafted nor is it as polished as it could (or should) be. It’s another movie game. Caveat emptor.
50
Xbox 360gameZine (UK)
It may be all very simplistic, and nips through the film’s story in no time, but it’s probably the most worthy Pixar tie-in yet – at the very least it captures the soul and look of the film, even if it fails to match its creativity. After playing Lego Indiana Jones though, and seeing how decent kid’s games can be, Wall-E: The Game could only be a shadow of Traveller’s Tales’ sterling effort. Recommended to young kids and non-gamers (the Wii version will undoubtedly sell the best) then, but that’s about it.
50
Xbox 360Avid Gamer
As a simple platform game WALL-E is mostly serviceable, and retains enough of the charm from the movie (including welcome appearances by WALL-E’s pet cockroach) to satisfy younger, less cynical fans. WALL-E is not a total disaster, just far too familiar to demand anything more than faint praise.

For those of you looking for a recap of my review, I’m sorry to disappoint you, but I can sum this up pretty quickly: WALL·E is not the worst licensed game I’ve ever played, but it's far from being one of the better Pixar adaptations. If the latter is what you’re looking for, I recommend you head to your store, grab the Ratatouille DVD and game for your system of choice and make a family affair of it for the weekend. It would be time and money well spent, rather than wasted on a title that that ended up not being so much broken as it was a mistake to make in the first place.

This game offers a few fun moments but is just too short to justify much more than a rental. It’s a shame as the film is a welcome Pixar treat and this game just doesn’t do it justice.

WiiGamestyle
Ultimately WALL-E the film deserves better than this licensed release, which has been formed using an off the shelf formula. The cluster of extras and novelty saved Ratatouille, but you cannot trick Gamestyle twice using the same identikit method. Instead this is an average and somewhat lazy release, only saved by the quality of the source material.
50
Xbox 360Totally Gaming Network
As film licences go though, WALL-E definitely errs on the side of average and doesn’t have enough going for it to work as a standalone title in its own right, leaning far too heavily on its source material and the hope that fans of the flick will pick it up rather than the game attracting players looking for something that little bit different.

In addition, Wall.E suffers from repetitiveness that is almost migraine inspiring. Each level seems to have you making blocks to activate switches to open doors to do it all over again, all while managing to avoid pratfalls and dangers that just don't get the juices flowing. Yes, the game follows the movie's general adventure, but I'm certain that there wasn't as much repetitiveness in the movie as there is in the game. In addition, there are some multiplayer modes to experiment with although I feel they do not add much to the value of the game. Racing matches and other hidden collectables don't legitimately warrant playing through the game repeatedly even though it is relatively short.

Wall-E is yet another movie tie-in game that doesn’t meet the quality of the Pixar film. It really doesn’t meet the standard of a quality kid’s game either. The entire single player campaign takes about seven hours to complete, perhaps more if the puzzles stump younger players. The multi-player adds very little to the overall value. Rent it on a rainy day if you must, but Wall-E not worth the time it takes to play through it.

Somehow someone somewhere managed to design and create a game that is almost completely devoid of fun and enjoyment. If you do purchase and play through this game, you’ll be left thinking of all the better ways you could have spent your time. Such as watching paint dry, bouncing a tennis ball against a wall, surfing random articles on Wikipedia and banging your head against a brick wall.

WALL-E is a particular sad movie tie-in failure, because Pixar, the company behind the film, is known for projects that appeal to multiple age groups. By contrast, the WALL-E game holds virtually no appeal to anyone. Keep this one away from your kids -- unless you intend to use it as some sort of sleep aid.

OK, not everything in WALL-E is poop-flavored: The cut-scenes entertain and do a successful job of setting the stage, and even the unimpressive graphics can't suppress the impossibly endearing nature of WALL-E himself. Very young children (who, from sheer ignorance, might not be bothered by the game's extreme simplicity) or huge fans of the film might get some small enjoyment out of WALL-E. But anyone else will see Heavy Iron's game for what it is: A tossed-off, uninspired, "show me the money" cash-in job that ought to be relegated to the murkiest depths of movie-license gaming hell.
