Description

Wanderer is a boulderdash-like game. Each tile contains a terrain and passing it gives a number of points. Levels contain earth, boulders, teleporters, balloons, monsters, and more hazards. The objective is to collect all treasures and kill all monsters. When you have done so, you may finish the level by moving to the exit. Wanderer comes with 60 levels and a level editor.

Trivia

The game was first released as C source code on the UseNet newsgroup comp.sources.games July 5th, 1988 (and here's that post!), intended, as the author recounts, for play on UNIX text terminals such as TVI910 or Wyse60.

A graphical version was circulated (counter to the license, without the credits information) by SCO with their UNIX distribution in 1990, though when the author applied for a job there they declined to grant him an interview. As he ponders on his website, "Maybe they had taken a look at the code..."
