The Eldar are a high specialised and high mobile race, they even can move their complete base. The troop leader have special abilities and and extra weapons to their team, making them much more dangerous. But on the other hand modern weapons have a price: Eldar troops can only do one thing very good, in the rest there are quiet bad so that you have mix the troops in your army.
Infantry: All infantry troops can run, which will increase the speed and decrease the accuracy. Infantry troops can be send through Webway Gates, a nice shortcut for a surprise attack.
Guardian: Basic infantry. Normal Eldar troops are good in at least one thing, the Guardian is good in nothing.
Ranger: A cloaked hunter, which would be good for killing workers or coordinating of artillery fire. There are no much workers to hunt and the Eldar have no artillery, so forget these unit.
Howling Banshee: Strong and only close combat unit. There are quiet fast, you can use them for hit & run – attacks.
Dark Reaper: A fire support unit, very good against infantry. It takes some time to establish the weapon of the Dark Reaper, so it is not a good offensive unit. But it's a very good defense unit, especially against infantry. Shield them with a troop of Howling Banshees.
Warp Spider: Even for the Eldar a fast troop. As the name already tells, this unit can travel through the warp and can pass defense lines or hills. Great for fast attacks.
Fire Dragon: The anti-vehicle infantry of the Eldar. The Eldar vehicles do more damage to vehicles and buildings, but the Fire Dragons are infantry and thereby they can use the Webway Gate.
Seer Council: Mighty infantry with PSI-ability. They do good damage in close combat, but better keep them behind the front line and use their deadly special abilities.
Harlequin: It's special abilities make him a perfect infantry killer. At least if he reaches enemy lines. Low hitpoints and weak standard attacks make the Harlequin an interesting, but less useful unit.
Vehicles: Like the infantry, the vehicles are also fast. Most of them hover above the ground, so that water is no problem.
Shuriken Cannon / Brightlance Platform: These support weapons are created in the Webway Gate. Even they are paid with vehicles points, these platforms count as infantry. That means you can send them through a Webway Gate. You also can attack a platform to an infantry squad for some extra firepower. The Shuriken Cannon is against infantry, the Brightlance against vehicles.
Vyper: Small, fast, weak and harmless. Don't produce it until you need a scout or something to hunt down enemy capture teams.
Falcon Grav Tank: A good armed troop transporter. Use it to break enemy defense lines and keep some workers in it. They you produce a Webway Gate and transport troops and buildings in the rear of your enemy.
Wraithlord: Support unit for infantry fighting. Can be upgraded with some anti-vehicle weapons. Keep some of them with your army, it is the only Eldar vehicle which has close combat abilities.
Fire Prism: The main battle tank of the Eldar. Deadly against everything, beside close combat, and very fast.
Special Units: Not much to say, a mind warrior and a body warrior.
Farseer: The deluxe version of the Seer Council, with more power and abilities. But again, keep it out of close combat.
Avatar: Like the Blood Demon from the Chaos Space Marines, it is a self moving army. Especially infantry is annihilated by this unit. But also defense turrets or vehicles are nearly defenseless. |
