Zweifellos handelt es sich bei Warhammer um ein hervorragendes Spiel, dem man anmerkt, daß es bis ins letzte Detail durchdacht ist. Dennoch wird es diese Echtzeit-Strategie-Perle neben C&C und Warcraft 2 möglicherweise schwer haben.

Het verhaal, de wereld en de eenheden in dit wargame zijn uitzonderlijk goed uitgewerkt en jouw beslissingen hebben ook een grote invloed op de evolutie van het verhaal. Het verhaal zelf zorgt er ook voor dat je voort blijft spelen, want je wil altijd weten wat er nu gaat gebeuren. Ook het feit dat je zelf je leger naar je eigen smaak samen kan stellen uit een uitgebreid aanbod van eenheden is zeker een pluspunt. Kortom, dit is een zeer goed wargame dat je het gevoel geeft dat je meer aan het doen bent dan doelloos een aantal vijandelijke eenheden in de pan te hakken.

Geduldige Profis und Kenner der Table-Top-Vorlage werden gut unterhalten, Gelegenheits-Strategen jedoch hoffnungslos überfordert.

Alt i alt er Warhammer dog et udmærket spil, som man kan få mange timer til at gå med, hvis man er villig til at bruge den tid, det tager at sætte sig ind i det.

Graphically, Warhammer is above average. Although the sprites look jumbled together at default settings, they're sharp and clear when the camera zooms in during gameplay. Backgrounds are also generally impressive. However, problems crop up in battle - you won't know who the victor is or how many troops are left until the winning army leaves the battlefield. The sound serves the game well with grunts, groans and moans across the battlefields creating the right wartime ambiance. While voice effects for the animated sequences are out of sync, they do add to the depth of the characters. Warhammer will fill the time between highly anticipated RPGs for the Playstation. If you like strategy/RPGs, then rent Warhammer first. If you don't Final Fantasy VII is just around the corner.

Somewhere between an RPG and a wargame, Warhammer offers a refreshing change of pace for fans of either genre looking for a new play experience. Set in the fantasy world of Games Workshop's pen-and-paper roleplaying World of Warhammer, Shadow of the Horned Rat is a compelling adventure that gives you a taste of the life of a mercenary captain.

Tanken bakom Warhammer är nog god, men det krävs mycket tålamod av spelaren för det går inte speciellt fort. Här krävs säkert en Pentium för att det ska hända något. Dessutom är ju Windows 95 ett krav, så detta är inte något spel för alla. Trots det är det småkul och inte helt tokigt.

Unfortunately, all of these trappings are overshadowed by the fact that Warhammer: Shadow of the Horned Rat is, at best, a mediocre real-time strategy game. If you want to play a well-designed real-time strategy game, forget this and pick up Warcraft II or Command and Conquer. You'll have a lot more fun.

A fan of the tabletop franchise may want to give Warhammer a shot. Strategy mavens who don't care much about visuals may find some excitement here, too, but the average video game RPG fan has seen bigger and better, and plenty of it.
