The Weakest Link

Though it would have been nice to drop my own face into the game, the depth in playing championship mode with tougher opponents and greater prize money is pretty surprising. Big fans of the show will love it, and it’s a good quiz game by any standards. Just lower the volume and skip past as many video interludes as possible, and enjoy the surprisingly well-balanced mental gymnastics.

Most game shows translate pretty well to the PC, but this isn't really one of them. While answering questions is fun, it gets boring watching the computer try to act like it's thinking about the answers and then waiting for a response. It's even more boring watching the 'reality show' portion of the game, especially when the responses are the same every time and you can't bypass any of it. It doesn't help that the graphics and video aren't all that great either. I can see how this might be a really fun game if you were playing with a group of friends, or if it had Internet play (which it doesn't). I wouldn't recommend this game unless you are a die-hard fan of The Weakest Link, a game show fanatic, or find it in the five-dollar bin at the software store. As far as TV game show home versions, this one is The Weakest Link -- goodbye.

It's cool flying solo, but when you have a group involved, hilarity ensues as people bargain to avoid being voted off. The speech is a little repetitive, but still amusing. Weakest Link on PS-X is not a few itches short of a rash. Good-bye.

In its favour it comes with a reputed 100, 000 questions and if you play it 'properly' in full multi-player mode it does provide an edge of tactics and backstabbing that Millionaire can only dream of. Overall though, out of the two big-name shows and PC games, there's only one that's a bit rubbish and it's this one. Goodbye.
