Bottom Line: Experienced gamers might find this game too easy. Beginners may find the exploration and puzzles a refreshing change from some of the more difficult adventure games. Mapping is necessary and a bit bothersome. Plenty of eye and ear candy to keep you playing.

The iridescent artwork and animation are generally first-rate, and the sparkling New Age soundtrack should appeal to those who appreciate floating asteroids and watery mammals.

I tried hard to like this game. It had the potential to be more than it was. As it stands, it has mediocre graphics, simple gameplay, and a boring quest. The music is the only thing good about the game and you can probably pick that up in a music store. Don't be fooled by the hype. Pass over this game and if you haven't played Myst yet, do yourself a favor and try that one instead. It does everything better and you have a lot of fun in the process, something a lot of games these days seem to be forgetting!

It should probably be sub-titled "Looking for stuff in a maze", because that is pretty much all you do. Or perhaps "I watched too many surfing films in the seventies", which I will explain later.

There didn't seem to be much plot to the game. You wander around and find all these keys and symbols and 3 lenses and the lens holder that were supposedly left by "ancient travelers." And eventually you collect everything and get back to the Pharaoh's tomb and get this 5½ min video showing things like dolphins and fish swimming and planets floating in space and that sort of thing. There is a glossy piece of paper that comes with the game with pictures of some of the objects you need to collect and a poem which hints at your goal in the game - something about ancient travelers leaving behind objects which you must find. Perhaps this scenario was more original back in 1995 when the game first came out. In any case, the plot is no more a plot than the plot of "Jewels of the Oracle" was a plot.

Puzzles? Gespräche? Für die „Welcome to the Future“-Macher offenbar Fremdwörter.
