When Maidens Attack

When the heroine of the game is slapped by a man, her response is swift and deadly. Unfortunately an evil clone of said man steals her shoes. This makes her very angry and so she proceeds with pursuing him and killing all unicorns which stand in her way.

In its core, When Maidens Attack is a platformer: the maiden jumps, dashes and double-jumps through the 23 levels and searches for the clone (which equals the exit portal to the boss fight). Additionally to her melee attack, she also has magical powers which she can use to dispose of her enemies. After killing enough enemies, she can enter a temporary rage mode which doubles physical damage and offers unlimited magical power.

Killing enemies rewards experience points and, after level-ups, upgrade points which are used to upgrade the four abilities: health, energy (influences not only the maximum amount, but also how fast it automatically recharges), speed and physical damage. More spells are purchased with gems which are found in the levels or dropped by dead enemies. Before starting the game, the player can choose between four archetypes which offers a starting bonus in one attribute.
