DescriptionHunter's Trophy 2: Europa is the sequel to Hunter's Trophy and the second game in the Hunter's Trophy series. It is a hunting game with five environments set in Europe: the Black Forest, the Camargue marshes, the Corrèze plains, Highland lakes, and the Swiss Alps. Players can hunt more than 20 types of prey, including boars, chamois, deer, duck, fox, hare and pheasant. In the hunting season mode each environment is split up in six hunting plans to discover new animals, unlock new locations, earn new permits, unlock skills and eventually access ten guns. After each mission experience is gained to level up. Experience points can be spent on the characteristics concentration, dog, movement, shot and stealth. There is a shooting tournament for up to two players, only based on accuracy and reflexes. The four trials are trap shooting, moving targets, fixed targets, and duck shooting.
Tracks are discovered by using a locating looking glass icons in the environment where the type of animal is identified. Different icons then pop up as you walk around that need to be found to complete the tracking. When another important trace found, in some missions it is possible to become the dog accompanying the hunter. Using a very wide FOV and a view close to the ground, traces through smell light up as red clouds and the hunter is outlined in blue. The dog must follow the scent that leads to the animal. It is able to move around, run and jump. Once completed, the dog barks towards the hunter you then control again to resume the hunt. When close, slower movement needs to be used and a bar at the bottom of the screen shows if you are visible to the animal with an additional stress gauge when it is alarmed There are three types of dogs in total, each with different behaviour, unlocked gradually. Next to tracking and stalking, beating is available as a hunting option.
Eventually the hunting week can be unlocked as a third game mode. It allows players to freely explore one of the five environments and combine different hunts in a single session, based on activities such as using a hunting hide, stalking or jump shooting. The game is played from a first-person view and it is also possible to zoom in. While aiming the gun can be stabilized, there is a short concentration gauge while the hunter holds his breath and multiple stances are supported. Navigation is made possible through a mini-map in the bottom left corner. The game supports three types of scopes. The traditional one is closest to a first-person shooter as it always stays in the middle of the screen. The free cursor has the player move the cross-hairs using the mouse freely on the screen and to turn the camera you move them to the edges of the screen. The third option is a mix of both: traditional while moving around, free when shouldering the weapon.
The Wii U version is only sold bundled with a white or brown ball trap gun peripheral.
