Mass Effect 3: Special Edition is a conversion of Mass Effect 3 for the Wii U platform. Next to the base game it also incorporates all the free DLC (downloadable content) released previously:

Exclusive to this version is a new weapon: M-597 Ladon. As none of the previous games are available for the platform, it includes an interactive, comic rendition that details the story events in the two preceding games, similar to how it was handled in the PS3 version of Mass Effect 2.

The game can be played with the Pro Controller of the GamePad. Using the GamePad area maps are rendered in 2D on the touch screen, marking the next goal along with pick-ups in the environment. In addition it is possible to map powers to icons as quick slots to access them faster without using the regular radial menu. Squad control over AI team mates is also provided through the touch screen. Team members can be tapped to plot their course through a map.
