NintendoWorldReport (Nov 20, 2012)
Scribblenauts Unlimited is a polished and fun launch. It is the purest realization of what makes the series so fun to date, and proves that, after so many portable iterations, Scribblenauts might actually be best suited for the TV and Nintendo’s Wii U GamePad.
One of the really cool things about Scribblenauts Unlimited on the Wii U is the ability to create all kinds of odd things, and share them with your friends. We can even make pigs fly in Scribblenauts Unlimited. People come up with some strange things. Who knows it may spur some creative ideas on your part.
Game Over Online (Dec 10, 2012)
Scribblenauts Unlimited is the best looking and playing entry in the series to date. It’s also the easiest, so if you didn’t like the first two due to their difficulty, at least give this a rental. I think it’s the perfect starting point given its easy learning curve and it makes perfect use of the Gamepad. I’m not sure just how many DS-to-Wii U upgrades can be done without watering things down, but the setup winds up fitting this series very well. $60 may be a bit too high a price for the Wii U version given that the PC version is half that. However, if you really enjoyed past games, I can see it being worth that price for die-hards. Anyone on the fence will want to rent it first though

Finally, this Wii U version also introduces a two-player co-op experience to the franchise, where a friend can pick up a Wii-mote and play as a sidekick. They can take control of any character that the first player spawns and interact with the scene. It’s not a full multiplayer experience as such, as the sidekick is always dependent on the main player. But Scribblenauts even unintentionally doubles as a great party game, where groups of friends can gather around the TV and yell out suggestions to see what eventuates. If you own a brand spanking new Wii U, buy this game and give your imagination a workout.
Common Sense Media (Nov, 2012)
The series' debut on Wii U finally gives Max a much needed backstory, and it sets the action in a pretty, high-definition, connected world where Max moves organically from one area to another, solving puzzles along the way. Not all of the new features work as well as others -- the co-op mode, which has additional players using a Wii Remote to control objects created by the main player with the GamePad, just makes for jealous friends -- but taken as a whole it's the deepest and most satisfying game the Scribblenauts series has yet produced.
Nintendo Life (Nov 28, 2012)
If you’re a fan of previous entries in the Scribblenauts series, then you’re going to love Scribblenauts Unlimited. If you’ve never played one before, then now is absolutely the time to start. The campaign could be considered to be on the short side, and the multiplayer gameplay leaves much to be desired, but, as always, Scribblenauts is about the pure joy of extending your imagination. This is the kind of game that looks great, controls well, and provides a whole heck of a lot of family-friendly fun.

That said, the game’s strengths more than make up for its few failings. Scribblenauts Unlimited is a great installment in the burgeoning series, and one that all Wii U owners, especially those with a penchant for humor and creativity, should check out. The gameplay is a tad one-dimensional, with each challenge amounting to little more than summoning a specific object, but there are plenty of humorous moments to keep you engaged in the experience, especially if you have someone around to share them with.
Digital Chumps (Dec 05, 2012)
As a sandbox in the purest sense of the word, Scribblenauts Unlimited’s success is evident, but its design lacks the reciprocity necessary to encourage creativity beyond the mundane. This is the best Scribblenauts yet, but with the same basic problem holding it back, it’s still little more than a toy in videogame form.
GamerGen (Dec 11, 2013)

Unlimited may once again frustratingly fail to reach the potential of Scribblenauts’ terrific core conceit. But if any game this year makes my son and I laugh as much as this has over the past week or so, I’ll be absolutely delighted.
Gamekult (Feb 01, 2013)
The Video Game Critic (May 14, 2013)
The game is controlled almost exclusively with the stylus, and frankly I don't even look at the television when I play. Scribblenauts is a game everybody should experience, but if you've already played it on the small screen you may find this Unlimited version a bit underwhelming.
