Call of Duty: World at War picks up where Call of Duty 4 left off. While there are basic modifications that have to do with a change in time period, World at War uses the same engine as Call of Duty 4, making gameplay nearly identical. Not that that is a bad thing. With what could be described as the most well rounded multi-player experience ever, Call of Duty: World at War inherits a tested game engine and a lot of goodwill from gamers. In a year from now, when the next Call of Duty will no doubt get released, I hope to expect something from Infinity Ward that is different from the current formula. I have every reason to believe that they will live up to this. Until then, World at War continues the same formula that has been working and keeping gamers up for long nights of gameplay since the release of Call of Duty 4. For that reason alone Call of Duty: World at War stands as the best World War II shooter to date.

Any fans of first-person shooting games or war games in general should have no hesitation in picking this up. The single-player campaign is one of the most involving, well-directed we've ever played, and the online multiplayer will have you still playing for months to come.

Overall, with Call of Duty: World at War, Treyarch successfully did two things: they made World War II shooters relevant again and brilliantly followed up one of the best games of this generation. On the Wii, they also successfully modified a very technically demanding engine to less powerful hardware. You should obviously pick up the other versions if you own both a Wii and another console (or a powerful PC) but it's obvious that Treyarch put a lot of effort into this version. On its own merits, Call of Duty: World at War is definitely one of the best Wii games of the season. The online offering in particular provides a fantastic building block for future games.

If Call of Duty 4 is anything to go by (and we’d say it is) people will be playing Call of Duty: World at War for some years to come, and it is definitely worth the investment.

All told, Call of Duty: World at War is a great first-person shooter and undoubtedly among the best that the Wii has to offer. The controls are smooth, responsive, and immersive, despite a few sundry hang-ups. The lengthy campaign is dramatic and exciting, and it's fun to replay levels with a friend along for the ride. The icing on the cake, the online multiplayer, is a great success despite its somewhat limited scope. So if you're looking for a reason to try a first-person shooter on the Wii, or you're a veteran remote-wielder looking for a new battlefield, look no further than Call of Duty: World at War.

If you're looking for a great FPS on the Wii, Call of Duty: World at War definitely fits the bill. With its impressive graphics, cinematic and brutal storytelling, varied missions, and excellent multiplayer offerings, this is a must play title for mature Wii gamers. While it is missing many of the online modes included in the other versions of this game, what is there works incredibly well and provides a lengthy experience. Who knew WWII could still be this much fun?

It would be easy to let the gameplay stop you from wanting to play Call of Duty: World at War, but there are just so many other things the game has to offer. If you own a Wii and are confident in your Wii remote abilities than this is an excellent game to pickup.

The game still houses some pretty basic World War II colors and locales, but among the greens and browns lay some impressive chunks of scenery to check out, and battling across, under, and through them is a blast. It could be quite a while until we see wartime shooter with as much attention to detail, cinematic flair, or open battlegrounds as World at War. Or then again, it might be just around the corner with Infinity Ward's official Call of Duty 5.

In the end, Call of Duty: World At War is a step up in the series, giving Wii owners a non-stop thrill ride both by themselves and with others. In comparison to other versions, however, it simply can't keep up.
