Long-term Lara fans will love having their memories jogged but you don't need tomb raiding experience to enjoy it - Anniversary is the best game in the series by far.
Gameswelt (Jan 02, 2008)

Game Chronicles (Dec 17, 2007)
Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary might not be the prettiest girl at the dance, but she’s got some new moves that will certainly make the other consoles jealous. The first time you dust off an artifact to reveal some ancient symbols, then do a rubbing of those symbols to unlock a puzzle somewhere else, and you’ll feel like a true adventure. And even though the controls and camera provide ongoing problems through the entire game, you’ll eventually learn to adapt, or at least deal with them. The game is certainly more than enough fun to tolerate a few minor combat quirks. For Lara veterans, this is a great way to relive one of the most influential games of the past decade, and the Wii adds some remarkable interactive gameplay features that make it worth a second visit.

Armchair Empire, The (Feb 26, 2008)
Really, it’s hard to find fault with Tomb Raider Anniversary. It is a relatively straightforward action adventure, but that’s what the franchise was – it’s a decided step back to form. Those expecting a more action heavy experience will feel a little let down, but as a puzzle heavy action game, Lara can more than hold her own.
IGN (Nov 13, 2007)
Tomb Raider: Anniversary for Wii is a competently executed enhanced port of the previously released PlayStation 2 affair that also happens to be good fun at its best and frustrating at its worst. Croft controls and looks better than she ever has before and yet she still has a long way to go if she's to provide real competition to the Prince of Persia, who has, in my mind, out-Tomb Raidered Tomb Raider in recent years. The end product is not exemplary, but it is a step in the right direction and it's also entertaining, particularly when you're jumping from ledge to ledge or swinging across chasms to the beat of moody music. Although I think it's just as good as previous versions of Anniversary, I've lowered the score of the game on Wii because little effort has been made to capitalize on the added horsepower of Nintendo's console. That the framerate regularly suffers in wide-open levels is really disappointing. I wouldn't call it a deal breaker, but an unfortunate oversight.
GameSpot (Nov 15, 2007)
Tomb Raider: Legend did a lot to make Lara Croft feel relevant again, and Tomb Raider: Anniversary is another step in the right direction. The acrobatic action is consistently exciting and challenging throughout. Despite some issues in its translation to the Wii, Tomb Raider: Anniversary is still a fun and challenging action adventure game that captures the spirit of what made the franchise so great in the first place.
Worth Playing (Dec 22, 2007)
Tomb Raider: Anniversary is the video game equivalent of giving your old car a new paint job and a spoiler and claiming it's as good as new. The combination of the dated Tomb Raider areas, mixed with the uninspiring and boring Tomb Raider: Anniversary alone, feels like a patch job, and the addition of the Wii elements to the original versions of Tomb Raider: Anniversary only serves to increase the feeling that most of this game is just new elements stapled haphazardly onto a prettier version of a 10-year-old game. If you're really eager to retread Lara's first adventure, the Wii is not the system on which to do it. The slightly interesting new features certainly don't make up for the awkward and uncomfortable new controls. Look to the PS2 or Xbox 360 versions if you've really got the itch to re-explore Lara's old haunts.
GameSpy (Nov 27, 2007)
Tomb Raider: Anniversary does a lot of things right. It's a pretty game that gives Wii owners a chance to play an updated version of one of gaming's seminal releases. In many ways, the controls are dead-on, but the awkward shooting controls hamstring the action. If shooting weren't such an integral part of the game, it could have been overlooked, but if you have to go one-on-one with a T-Rex, you want to have a weapon you can rely on.

I still love Lara. My love was strong enough to survive all those times in Tomb Raider PSone where she walked off ledges and swam into walls and missed ropes, even though she wasn't. It was strong enough to survive Angel of Darkness and those awful films, and it's strong enough to survive Tomb Raider: Anniversary on the Wii. If you haven't played the PC, PS2 or Xbox 360 versions, do. They're brilliant. This isn't.
