I was very surprised to find that that the japanese version was apparently really authorized by Nintendo. However, is this a genuine PC-88 game? The information I've seen rather indicates it's for the plain PC-8001. That the PC-88 is mentioned on the cover seems to be explained by backwards compatibility.

Apparently, it's also not entirely clear if the Apple II port was officially released (see this http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/175426-was-pole-position-released-for-the-apple-ii/) Is there any proof (like a boxscan) out there?
